This paper analyzes five excerpts from the North American Free Trade Agreement (nafta) that have been subjected to intervention, through a work of erasures and overlays to the original document, which appear in the intervention as a mellow-grey watermark, in Hugo Garcia Manriquez’s Anti-Humboldt. This article aims to read the original document along with the bold words selected by the author in order to extract a sense that challenges the increasingly tightened migration policies on the United States-Mexico border. What this approach produces is a counter-discourse that proclaims for the territorial opening and the decriminalization of the border crossing. This work thus presents an oblique proposal which highlights the segregationist ideology hidden behind the proclamations of freedom and harmony of the agreement.

En la primera novela de Valeria Luiselli, titulada Los ingravidos (2011), el protagonismo de Gilberto Owen ilustra el deseo de la autora de dar una renovada visibilidad a ese escritor mexicano y, al mismo tiempo, de crearse una auto-imagen que legitime su propia actividad de escritora. Desarticulacion del contenido, intertextualidad sostenida y recurrencia de la reflexion metaficcional, estos rasgos que presenta la practica novelistica de Luiselli coinciden con la de Owen y sugieren que reivindica un parentesco literario que la situa en una familia de escritores mexicanos de vanguardia. Esta filiacion se hace aun mas explicita porque Luiselli convierte a Owen en personaje literario de la novela (no sin exagerar algunos de los rasgos del poeta asociados frecuentemente a la figura del artista, como el alcoholismo o el fracaso relacional) y lo introduce como su propio doble .

Various manifestations of nineteenth-century Mexican literature articulated a series of ethical and aesthetic resolutions, which contributed to the definition and consolidation of a collective imagery around man and nature. It was sought, thus, to give meaning and cultural transcendence to the project of nation that then arose. As it is proposed in this work, the literary motive of travel and its perspective were the triggers from which that cultural imagery was configured, on which the concept and the image of the Mexican was concreted and acquired meaning, as some representative texts reveal.

El articulo se propone estudiar la presencia de la literatura mexicana en la Revue de l’Amerique Latine, publicada en Paris entre 1922 y 1932, con el fin de conocer aspectos de la difusion de la literatura hispanoamericana en Francia, en la revista mas importante sobre America Latina del decenio de 1920. Se trata asimismo de conocer las formas del dialogo trasatlantico entre Mexico y Francia en el mismo periodo. Se destaca la participacion de Alfonso Reyes (representante diplomatico en Francia entre 1925 y 1927) en la Revue y su vinculacion con el grupo editor. Reyes es el intelectual mexicano mas traducido y editado en la revista; al mismo tiempo, de entre las publicaciones francesas en las que se resena y traduce la obra del intelectual regiomontano, es en la Revue de l’Amerique Latine donde la presencia es mayor. Se concluye senalando el papel de esta revista en la difusion de la obra de Reyes en Francia en la decada de los veinte.

La poesia mexicana se caracteriza en los ultimos anos por la descentralizacion de algunas practicas literarias que tienen que ver con el conflicto producido en la frontera de Mexico-eua. Desde la obra de Heriberto Yepez, Por una poetica antes del paleolitico y despues de la propaganda (2000), hasta Esther M. Garcia, con Mama es un animal negro que va de largo por las alcobas blancas (2017), podemos estudiar la fision, la violencia, especialmente a las mujeres, la “telefisica” y el humor para criticar los limites que se cruzan entre multiples poeticas y organos de poder. En contacto con San Diego (California) y El Paso (Texas), la lirica que se ha publicado en las decadas recientes permite entender los problemas transfronterizos mas alla de la convencion.

This article studies the digital poetry work POETuiteame by Mexican authors Karen Villeda and Denise Audirac using the theories of conceptual art and non-creative writings of Kenneth Goldsmith, as well as the concepts of appropriation and the semionautic re-semantization of Nicolas Bourriaud. To do this, the article first establishes the panorama of digital poetry from the point of view of its reception, culminating in the emergence of tweet-poetry as a sample of the poetic writings in social networks. This tweetpoetry foundation is essential for the final execution of Villeda and Audirac’s work. Secondly, the theories of Goldsmith and Bourriaud are addressed as a main axis to finally address the study of the work POETuiteame and its non-creative and semionautic implications as a conceptual execution of 2.0 writing.

En el presente artículo se analiza el desdoblamiento de la figura del emperador Maximiliano en sus formas histórica e imaginaria en Noticias del Imperio de Fernando del Paso. Se aproxima al tema mirando al cuerpo del protagonista del Segundo ImperioMexicano según las teorías de Mijaíl Bajtín sobre el realismo grotesco. Leyendo el cuerpo del Maximiliano histórico como un cuerpo sistemáticamente degradado (“grotesqueado”) a lo largo de la novela, este artículo muestra cómo, conforme con el concepto bajtiniano, Del Paso lo dota de una creatividad en potencia que permite a Carlota reconstruirlo, como era y como podía haber sido, en su imaginación. Medianteeste análisis se explora una figura que tiende a ser eclipsada en la crítica, a la vez que se replantean y reexaminan lecturas establecidas desde una nueva óptica.
