The aim of the research is a psycholinguistic substantiation of the systemic nature of the representation of the Russian person’s personal value nominations at the present stage of society development. The article considers the linguistic realization of values in the form of value names, which are represented in the soft hierarchy of system elements. The most significant values were identified on the basis of a pilot survey of respondents, ranked, in accordance with the participants’ assessments. The names of values create a system of a soft hierarchy, where the closest connections in the form of interrelated dyads are observed in the core. The associative experiment showed the presence of associative connections between the analyzed names of values. The zone of the near periphery is represented by several dyads and a triad, the zone of the near periphery is represented by values with weak connections between the elements. The scientific novelty of the research is that it provides, for the first time, an analysis of the systemic nature of the axiological sphere of the early 21st century on the basis of the Russian language as one of the spheres of the Russian image of the world. As a result of the research, the dynamics of the axiological sphere was revealed, which manifests itself in changes in the associative components in its structure, which, under the influence of various factors, leads to a change in the content and the very structure of the value space of the Russian native speaker and Russian culture in the 21st century as a whole.

The aim of the study is to represent the general and distinctive features of functional semantics of emotion nominations in A. P. Chekhov’s and I. A. Bunin’s prose on the example of grief emotives. The article highlights the most important aspects of the given emotion, verbally represented in both writers’ prose; syntagmatic and paradigmatic connections of grief emotives are analyzed and, on this base, the most significant contextual meanings of these lexemes are defined, which are actualized in the considered works. The scientific novelty of the conducted study is that it offers the first comparative analysis of emotive lexemes in A. P. Chekhov’s and I. A. Bunin’s prose from the point of view of functional-semantic similarities and differences of these units. The research established that both general and specific semantic characteristics of grief emotives are represented in A. P. Chekhov’s and I. A. Bunin’s prose works. The similarity of the functional semantics of these units is manifested in the fact that in both writers’ prose they are used for describing the characters’ inner state as well as for the emotional characteristic of the phenomena of the world, with the first case potentially representing a static or a dynamic aspect of the emotion. Furthermore, in Chekhov’s and Bunin’s prose the ambivalence of the grief condition is highlighted by means of hidden oxymorons. One of the specific features of the functional semantics of grief emotives in Chekhov’s prose is that the writer rarely uses authorial individual metaphors for describing this emotion, while in Bunin’s prose such expressive devices are quite vividly represented. The study also established that in Bunin’s prose the emotives of grief are actively used for the emotional characteristic of the phenomena of the surrounding world (first and foremost, light and sound).

The aim of the study is to define the features of locus image representation in a tourist advertising narrative. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the consideration of locus image in a tourist advertising narrative has not been undertaken before. The novelty is also determined by the fact that for the first time loci have been singled out, that is, spaces actualized by geographical factors and natural and cultural landscapes. For the first time it has been indicated that loci represented by texts of a tourist advertising narrative simulate its sense-forming space and also construct a system of meanings. The article considers the different interpretations of the term “locus” by scholars and gives the author’s understanding of this concept. As a result of the research, the main loci in a tourist advertising narrative are singled out, namely: the locus of refuge and salvation, the locus of Paradise and absolute happiness, the locus of dreams, the locus of harmony, the locus of hope, the locus of relaxation and activation, the locus of new life, the locus of freedom, the locus of discovery, the locus of adventure, the locus of a fairy tale and a dream, the locus of mystery, the locus of returning to childhood, the locus of initiation. The text-forming potential of the locus image in a tourist advertising narrative is noted, as well as its dominance in focusing and holding the attention and interest of the text’s recipient. The ability of the locus image to potentially influence the consumer of the service by representing the topic of the text and the subsequent development of its structure is emphasized, which actualizes the topic and accumulates markers of valuable information.

The aim of the research is to define the axiological features of the objectification of the concepts ШIУ (GOOD) and БЗЭДЖАГЪ (EVIL) in the Adyghe linguoculture. The paper considers the peculiarities of the linguistic representation of moral and ethical categories of good and evil in the Adyghe linguistic picture of the world through the prism of the value conceptosphere. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the fact that it reveals for the first time the linguocultural specifics of the actualization of the value characteristics of the concepts ШIУ (GOOD) and БЗЭДЖАГЪ (EVIL) in the Adyghe linguistic picture of the world. The analysis of the peculiarities of lexical and phraseological-paremiological objectification of the concepts ШIУ (GOOD) and БЗЭДЖАГЪ (EVIL) in the Adyghe linguoculture is carried out. As a result of the research, it was established that the concepts ШIУ (GOOD) and БЗЭДЖАГЪ (EVIL), being an ethical opposition, are objectified implicitly and explicitly by various linguistic units, reflect the moral values of the Adyghe and determine the value dominants of the national linguistic consciousness. The opposition ШIУ/БЗЭДЖАГЪ is connected with both material and spiritual values of the Adyghe linguocultural community.

The aim of the research is to propose an interpretation of the linguoconcept PRIVACY through the prism of the works by the American writer J. Franzen, in development of previously expressed interpretations. J. Franzen’s essay “The Imperial Bedroom” (1998) was chosen as the research material. The paper analyzes the changes in the life of the American society against the backdrop of the increasing role of state and corporate technological control in different spheres of an individual’s life; it identifies the link between the thematic originality of J. Franzen’s essay collection “How to Be Alone” and social processes in the USA at the end of the last century; and reveals the originality of the linguoconcept PRIVACY in J. Franzen’s system of values based on the material of the essay “The Imperial Bedroom”. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the presentation of the linguoconcept PRIVACY as interpreted by J. Franzen through the opposition of the states of public space – visibility / PRIVACY – invisibility. As a result, the paper shows that the linguoconcept PRIVACY, previously associated with the state of invisibility, in J. Franzen’s interpretation has incorporated the public space, depriving the individual of the opportunity to be visible in the public space and exposing his vulnerability in private life. The results obtained are extremely important for modern American studies as they open up opportunities for further research on the linguoconcept PRIVACY taking into account current socio-political issues.

The aim of the research is to determine the didactic possibilities of a TV series as a source of sociocultural competence formation for students studying a foreign language at a non-linguistic university. The article substantiates the thesis that a TV series, being an important sociocultural phenomenon of our time, can be used to master the national and cultural component of the country of the studied language and world sociocultural trends. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by the fact that for the first time a methodology has been developed for working with a sociocultural component of a TV series in foreign language classes with students of a non-linguistic university. As a result, it was proved that a TV series as a didactic tool not only contributes to the assimilation of nationally specific information about the country of the studied language, but also allows learners to trace global sociocultural transformations, which is especially relevant in the context of multicultural education.

At the present stage of development of Russian linguistics, the number of works devoted to the study of various aspects of borrowing of lexical units has increased. However, there is a lack of stable, generally accepted terminology to describe the processes of borrowing linguistic units and their transformations. The aim of the research is to clarify the conceptual and terminological apparatus which is used to describe the processes of transformation of borrowed units in the recipient language. The generally accepted paradigm of the terms “assimilation”, “naturalization”, “integration” and “adaptation” is taken as a basis in this work. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the etymology of the presented terminological units is used to clarify the terminological apparatus, the semantics of these terms in other areas of scientific knowledge is specified, and the possibilities of their application in linguistics are considered. The results of the analysis carried out allow us to justify the use of the term “assimilation” as the most optimal one, denoting various changes occurring in the process of integration or naturalization of borrowed words into the system of the recipient language. The article examines the main types of quantitative and qualitative assimilation. The terminological aspects of the description of each type are specified. As a result of the conducted research, the basic conceptual and terminological apparatus for describing the process of borrowing lexical units and their transformations in the recipient language has been formulated.

The article examines the problem of evolution of free verse forms in Adyghe (Kabardian) poetry using the example of creativity of the Kabardian poetess, writer, playwright Zarina Saadulovna Kanukova (1969), in particular, her latest collection of poems "Хэку/Homeland" (2022). Poetic compositions of varying degrees of freedom from rhyme-metric constructions, as well as conventional poems created in strict accordance with the rules of classical syllabo-tonic versification are considered. The research aim is to identify the trends in the development of free verse forms in national poetry in general and in Z. Kanukova's work in particular. The scientific novelty of the work lies in identifying and studying innovative poetic forms for the Adyghe (Kabardian) literature - varieties of free verse; the little-studied problem of transformation of the national verse system is touched upon; the research material presented in the collection "Хэку/Homeland" is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The obtained results prove the progressive nature of free verse forms in the stated book and give reason to assume the movement of the entire Adyghe (Kabardian) poetry towards gradual formal emancipation/liberation.

The study aims to identify possible ways of conveying subjective modality when translating the particle ‘же’ into English. This particle is one of the most frequent lexemes in the Russian language. At the same time, it is capable of conveying a number of connotations, which presents a special problem when translating statements containing the particle. The study is original in that it is the first to identify the lexico-grammatical means of the English language that are used to convey the emotive component of the meaning of the particle in translation. As a result of the study, it was found that a wide range of lexico-grammatical means can be used to convey the connotative part of the meaning when translating the particle into English. The choice of the language means used depends on the interpretation of the connotation of the particle in a certain context. The study shows that there is a correlation between the syntactic and grammatical construction of the sentence, its classification according to the purpose of the utterance and the interpretation of the connotation of the particle. Consequently, the translation of the same particle used in narrative, interrogative and imperative sentences requires the application of different English linguistic means. Thus, the result of the study was the identification of ways to convey subjective modality when translating the particle ‘же’ in different types of sentences.

The aim of the research is to identify the nominative and structural characteristics of metaphorical terms in technical discourse using the material of Russian, Bashkir, and English. The paper clarifies the notions “metaphor” and “metaphorical models” in a comparative aspect. In scientific language, metaphorization is the process of selecting terms based on similarities between different objects in terms of their features, functions, or characteristics. The main conceptual fields in the formation of metaphorical terms are represented by the metaphorical models “Human” and “Nature”. The study is novel in that it is the first to analyze metaphorical term formation in the Russian, Bashkir, and English languages, introducing into scientific use new factual data on technical terminology in a comparative aspect. It was found that in the analyzed languages, there is a high percentage of metaphors within the “Human” and “Nature” models. The research revealed that the process of metaphorization in technical terminology is more extensive in Russian and English compared to the Bashkir language. Metaphor proves to be an effective means of forming technical terms in the languages under consideration.
