The research objective is to identify semantic shifts that occurred in word collocations, documented in the diaries of archpriest V. D. Kasyanov, and the nature of changes in collocability of certain prepositional-case forms. The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying semantic changes that occurred over a century and a half and were not reflected in lexicographical sources, revealed through the analysis of word syntagmatic relationships. Additionally, for the first time, the collocational possibilities of some words and prepositional-case forms in the modern Russian language are compared with those in the 19th-century language. The study identified lexemes that have non-standard collocability according to contemporary Russian standards, indicating the presence of components in their meaning that were subsequently lost, corroborated by data from the National Corpus of the Russian Language. For some words, semantic shifts lead to a complete loss of lexical-syntactic expression of semantic valency or show a tendency towards such loss. The analysis also revealed that modern case forms "по + Dative case" and "от + Genitive case" demonstrate a more limited collocability compared to the 19th-century language.

The research objective is to address the issue of the accuracy of biographical data regarding P. I. Karpov. The article discusses the stages in the life and creative path of the little-known writer of the neo-peasant direction, P. I. Karpov, with attention given to the features of the author's idiolect. An important aspect of this study is uncovering unreliable information about the writer, who is one of the enigmatic and contradictory figures in the 20th-century literature. P. I. Karpov's literary works were banned by censorship for 25 years, many of them were confiscated. The true extent of Karpov's work remains unknown to literary critics to this day. The scientific novelty of the research lies in introducing the reliable information about the life and works of P. I. Karpov for the first time, confirmed by documentary evidence, newspaper interviews with the writer's relatives, archived in the Literary Museum of the city of Kursk. The research revealed that P. I. Karpov largely mythologized his own biography, influenced by several non-literary factors that significantly impacted the writer's fate.

In this article, a semantic-syntactic analysis of prepositions and conjunctions in the English language with the semantics of precedence is presented. The research objective is to determine the features of the functioning of prepositions and conjunctions in the English language involved in representing the category of precedence. A set of prepositions and conjunctions of temporal semantics implementing the studied meaning has been identified in the paper. The scientific novelty lies in identifying the dominant functions of a preposition or conjunction as non-verbal means of expressing temporality, particularly the meaning of precedence, in determining the temporal meaning of the statement. The obtained results revealed that in the English language, the potential for representing precedence by prepositions and conjunctions is determined by their combinability. Prepositions of precedence are differentiated by types of precedence: 1) immediate precedence (till and until); 2) distant precedence without obligatory localization (before); 3) precedence to a specific moment in time without a zone of distance (by). Prepositions more often express precedence to an explicit time interval, while conjunctions represent precedence to an event described in a subordinate clause, and implying an interval. The specificity of the English language lies in the homonymy of prepositions and conjunctions of precedence.

This article carries out a comprehensive and multifactorial semantic-structural analysis of special texts on winemaking, taking into account the contact and distant semantic connections of individual speech units (propositional locutemes) among themselves and the relationships of individual sentences, the totality of which makes up the text. The purpose of the study is to develop a typology of prototypical semantic structures (textemes) of special winemaking texts, which will improve the technology for translating winemaking concepts taking into account the context and their meaning. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time, with the help of linguocogitological methods, built-up contact and distant connections of logosemic features of syntagmemes as unifying links of block textemes have been identified in order to categorize logosemes in special texts on winemaking in the process of semantization. The obtained results make it possible to describe the specific functioning of the components of texts of various levels in the form of a complex of interconnected elements, i. e., the lingvemic-locutematic mechanism for creating explicit and implicit connections of intercategorical logical-semantic features in special texts on winemaking, representing the process of textemization.

The aim of the research is to characterize the ways of interpreting biographical myths about M. Gorky based on the analysis of N. Pributkovskaya’s dramatic cycle “Three versions of one fate”. The origins of formation of the future writer’s worldview, his relationship with E. P. Peshkova, as well as the reasons for Gorky’s moral crisis in the last years of his life are developed as the debatable positions of Gorky’s biographical myth. The article deals with the main qualifiers of the artistic world of the plays, the logic of the plot of the trilogy, and the principles for selecting facts from the writer’s biography. Scientific novelty consists in introducing into scientific use the plays created using unpublished materials from M. Gorky’s personal correspondence, a comprehensive analysis of the trilogy as an artistic unity carried out for the first time, since there are currently no literary studies devoted to N. Pributkovskaya’s dramaturgy. As a result of the research, the specificity of the trilogy genre has been determined as a synthesis of various types of documentary nature: epistolary (human document), models of artistic personal identification (the writer’s early works), documentary topoi (Nizhny Novgorod at the end of the 19th century). It is shown that the subjectivity and evaluativeness of the author’s position appeals to the perceptive consciousness of the modern reader/viewer, indicating a change in the ontological status of Gorky’s myth.

The study aims to identify the modal potential of synthetic and analytical forms of the future tense in German and Russian. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the paper provides insight into the question of the functional equivalence of synthetic and analytical forms of the future tense. As a result, it has been shown that along with the future tense semantics, synthetic and analytical forms are able to convey modal complementary meanings under certain conditions. The peculiarity of the Russian language is that perfective verbs (Future Simple) can express core and non-core modal meanings. The inferential evidentiality as an additional complementary meaning is characteristic only of the analytical form Futur I in German and cannot be conveyed by the futural form Präsens. In German, synthetic forms express an alethic meaning if predicates in sentences of this type presuppose information already known to the interlocutor. Volitive and deontic meanings in German can be conveyed in sentences containing the Präsens form if there is an indication of the need to carry out an action in the context. The phenomenon of functional asymmetry is traced in the system of the future tense in German and Russian: the German analytical form Futur I can be considered the equivalent of the synthetic form capable of conveying evidential meanings (Future Simple) in the Russian language.

The study aims to describe the features of the structural-semantic organization of the titles of journalistic texts in Udmurt within the framework of expressive syntax. The scientific novelty lies in identifying the expressive-evaluative potential of the title as a structural element of mass media texts; in determining syntactic redundancy and syntactic insufficiency in the lexico-grammatical structures of the Udmurt language. The results suggest that syntactic heterogeneity is peculiar to the titles of journalistic texts in Udmurt. Based on the analysis of the title structure of the “Udmurt dunne” newspaper for 2020-2023, it was found that the authors of the articles prefer such stylistic devices as inversion, elliptical sentences, rhetorical exclamations, which are primarily used to express the emotive, attractive and appellative functions. Various kinds of repetitions, gradation, parcelling and polysyndeton are characterized by low frequency, accounted for by the internal specifics of the newspaper title, which tends to brevity of expression. The use of various means and devices in the titles of journalistic texts makes it possible to perform the influencing, expressive, attractive, appellative, narrative functions of a newspaper text.

The aim of the study is to determine the functional capabilities of pronouns that contribute to the realization of a pragmatic task in Tatar-language and English-language advertising slogans. The paper considers two categories, i.e., the first- and second-person personal and possessive pronouns, since they are used to denote a specific addressee of advertising and the manufacturer of goods or services. The study is novel in that it is the first to consider the specifics of using pronouns in advertising slogans with pragmatic potential in a comparative aspect, which will make it possible to identify and systematize differences and similarities in the use of linguistic means in the context of advertising in languages with different structures. As a result of the study, it was found that pronouns in advertising texts perform several functions: targeting a specific addressee, indicating the source of the advertising message, establishing links between the consumer and the manufacturer of advertising products. At the same time, in Tatar advertising slogans, the socio-expressive function of the pronouns ‘син’ (singular ‘you’) and ‘сез’ (plural ‘you’) is easily determined, while in English the absence of the singular ‘you’ / plural ‘you’ difference is not an indicator of formality or informality.

The aim of the study is to identify the features of translating English imperative sentences into Russian in a literary text, taking into account their functional-communicative types. The scientific novelty of the study lies in determining the dependence of translatological tools on the subtype of the imperative sentence, identifying the main and secondary ways of translating English imperative sentences from the perspective of different functional-communicative subtypes. As a result of the study, it was found that word-for-word translation dominates in the most numerous group of imperative sentences of the cardinal type. The tendency of employing word-for-word translation is also revealed when rendering the imperative means in one of the groups of intermediate communicative types of sentences, namely in the group of imperative-interrogative sentences. It was determined that transformational translation prevails in the rendering of English declarative-imperative, interrogative-imperative and imperative-declarative sentences into Russian, with such translation techniques as substitution, modulation, and antonymic translation being the most frequent.

It was determined that transformational translation prevails in the rendering of English declarative-imperative, interrogative-imperative and imperative-declarative sentences into Russian, with such translation techniques as substitution, modulation, and antonymic translation being the most frequent.","PeriodicalId":415627,"journal":{"name":"Philology.
