In this article, the relevance of Tadqīq al-‘Ināyah of Ibn Abi’l-Dam (d. 642/1244), whose name is mentioned in the context of objection to Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ (d. 643/1245) although not very often, to Muqaddimah Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ is discussed. Based on Şams al-Din al-Sakhāwī’s (d. 902/1497) claim that Tadqīq al-‘Ināyah is plagiarism and the book’s critical edition committee being of the same opinion, it is tried to determine the relationship between the two works by reading them comparatively. It is very remarkable that there was a study on Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ’s work while he was still alive, and that it contained plagiarism. The main objective of this research is to reveal the dimensions and nature of plagiarism in Tadqīq al-‘Ināyah in terms of form, method and content. In the meantime, the paper will draw researchers attention to some of the original aspects of the work in question and to some criticisms of its author against Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ.

Ikhwan al-Safâ is a school founded in Basra in the fourth century AH for religious, philosophical, political, and scientific purposes. The pioneers of this school who were interested in the fields such as cosmology, psychology, metaphysics, astronomy, mathematics, etc., wrote an encyclopedic work called Resâilu Ikhwan al-Ṣafâ, consisting of a total of fifty-two treatises. Zayd b. Rifaa is accepted as one of the important figures of this community. In this article, the life of Zayd b. Rifaa and his place in the history of hadith are examined. Subsequently, the solidity of the forty hadiths collection attributed to him, its narrators, commentaries, sources, authenticity, and its content were questioned. As a result of the study, the value of a person engaged in philosophy and the forty hadiths he narrated in the eyes of hadith scholars was tried to be revealed.
