Introduction: This article reviews a number of studies that have sought to determine how factors that occur in prenatal life and early childhood may lead to psychiatric disorders in adulthood. It focuses on the relationships between the physiology and pathophysiology of the autonomic nervous system and their impact on the child's development, on previously experienced traumas, on living in unfavorable conditions, on factors that have a negative impact on the fetus during pregnancy, and on the existence of two psychopathological dimensions and their connections with specific psychiatric disorders. Aim of study: The aim of the study is to present a comprehensive review of some of the most common forms of childhood maltreatment and show how powerful the impact they have on children’s development and their later adult life.  Materials and methods:  Materials used in this study were found in the PubMed database, using the following keywords: childhood maltreatment, sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, alcohol and drug abuse, and psychiatric disorders. Conclusion:  The work clearly shows that neglect, abuse, and abnormal behavior have a direct impact on psychiatric disorders occurring in children and on the consequences that children have to bear as a result of their adult lives.

Introduction and Purpose:Dyspareunia is a sexual disorder associated with pain in women. It refers to pain related to sexual intercourse. Pain can occur during penetration attempts, during penetration, during intercourse, and shortly after penetration. Studies conducted in the United States indicate that the problem of pain during intercourse affects as much as 10-20% of women. [1]  In Poland, this number is estimated to be around 13%.[1]   The aim of this review is to delve into the existing literature on the diagnosis of dyspareunia in women and to raise awareness of its extensive nature, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.A Brief Description of the State of Knowledge:The etiology of dyspareunia is multifactorial and may arise from pathological changes in the vulva and vagina, inflammatory changes, contact irritations, as well as vulvar conditions such as lichen sclerosus and flat. [3]  Additionally, hormonal changes, pelvic floor injuries, postpartum gynecological procedures also play a significant role. Psychological factors such as trauma, anxiety, and depression are also important [4].Conclusions:Dyspareunia is a condition that significantly affects the quality of life of women in various ways, thus necessitating effective therapeutic approaches. Collaboration among diverse specialists such as gynecologists, sexologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists is crucial. Further research focusing on multimodal strategies is needed to effectively tailor treatments and mitigate the systemic effects of chronic pain.

Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common long-term complication of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) reactivation. It is characterized primarily by persistent pain more than 90 days after the illness at the site where the rash was. This pain is sharp, burning, stabbing in nature. Postherpetic neuralgia can lead to a reduced quality of life and negatively affect sleep and daily functioning. The first line of treatment is currently conservative methods, which include anticonvulsants, antidepressants, topical lidocaine, as well as opioids and topical capsaicin. If these measures are ineffective, individually tailored interventional methods may be necessary. Among these, botulinum toxin A injection is the most common. Other methods focus on neuromodulation (which is the alteration of nerve activity through targeted delivery of a stimulus) or blocking individual elements of the nervous system.

The NeoChord DS 1000 system offers a minimally invasive alternative for treating degenerative mitral regurgitation (MR), particularly in high-risk patients with previous aortic surgery. A 74-year-old male with a history of Bentall procedure presented with severe MR and dyspnea (NYHA III). Transapical mitral valve repair was performed using the NeoChord DS 1000 system. Three artificial chordae were implanted, significantly reducing MR. The patient had an uneventful recovery and was discharged in good condition after 8 days. This case demonstrates the NeoChord system's potential in high-risk patients where traditional MVR poses high risks. Transapical access avoids sternotomy and extracorporeal circulation, offering a safer alternative. The NeoChord DS 1000 system shows promise for high-risk patients and those with complex surgical histories, though further research is needed to confirm its long-term efficacy and durability.

Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the digestive tract. It is a clinical entity that includes: Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Food intake is an important environmental factor that influences the development of IBD. This article reviews studies on different dietary options and their effects on the course and activity of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.  Materials and methods: A review of the literature available in the PubMed database was carried out, using the key words: ”inflammatory bowel disease”; ”Crohn disease”; ”diet”; “nutrition”; „colitis ulcerosa”. Results: Appropriate diet selection is important in the course of inflammation in the intestines. It influences disease activity. It turns out that the diet improves inflammation parameters, clinical symptoms, and quality of life. In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, one should also remember about deficiencies such as iron, vitamin D or protein deficiency, the demand of which is increased in sick patients compared to the general population. Conclusions: An individualized approach to nutritional therapy may be one of the main branches of treatment for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. However, there is a need for further research on larger groups of patients in order to effectively implement it into treatment standards.

Introduction and purpose: Heart failure is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases worldwide. It is an important factor leading to a reduced, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) not only because of its various symptoms but also due to loss of jobs or increase in medical expenses impairing the socioeconomic status of the sick. Nowadays scientists face this problem and are trying to invent specific pharmacotherapy that allows it to extend life and improve its quality. One of the elements of modern pharmacotherapy is the combination of sacubitril with valsartan. This work aims to evaluate the effect of this drug on the length and quality of life of patients with heart failure.Materials and methods: This article is a literature review based on publications from PubMed, Cochrane Library, ClinicalKey released since 2014, keywords included: sacubitril/valsartan; angiotensin receptor–neprilysin inhibitor; ARNI; heart failure. The state of knowledge: The use of sacubitril/valsartan drugs is an established agent used to reduce the risk of death from any cause in all patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, death from cardiovascular causes and the rate of hospitalization due to exacerbation of symptoms. Some study analyses also indicate the utility of using sacubitril/valsartan in HFmrEF and HFpEF to reduce the rate of cardiovascular events and hospitalization because of heart failure. Conclusions: The use of sacubitril/valsartan is recognized to improve prognosis in patients with HFrEF. Evidence supporting its efficacy in the subgroup of patients with mid-range and preserved ejection fraction is still insufficient and requires further investigation.

IntroductionObesity is defined as an excessive accumulation of body fat that can negatively affect a person's physical as well as mental health. It results not only from excessive caloric intake relative to energy expenditure, but also from a myriad of genetic, metabolic, environmental and behavioral factors. Obesity poses the risk of a number of chronic diseases that impair quality of life and increase the risk of death. Understanding the causes of obesity, the consequences it brings, and learning about treatments can help improve health and public awareness.Aim of the StudyThis study aims to analyze the causes, health consequences, and available treatment methods for obesity in adults, providing a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge on the subject.Materials and MethodsThis review utilized data from recent literature published over the last 15 years, sourced primarily from PubMed. The focus was on identifying and synthesizing information related to the epidemiology, risk factors, health consequences, and treatment strategies for adult obesity. Keywords such as "obesity," "adult," "treatment," "epidemiology," and "health consequences" were used to search relevant studies.ConclusionsObesity in adults is a multifaceted issue requiring a comprehensive approach to treatment. Addressing this epidemic necessitates a combination of dietary changes, increased physical activity, behavioral therapies, pharmacological interventions, and surgical options when necessary. Introduction Campylobacteriosis, caused primarily by Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli, is a significant public health concern worldwide. Since 2007 it has been the most frequently reported zoonotic disease in humans across the European Union. Campylobacteriosis is also the leading cause of bacterial diarrhea.   Aim of the study This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, transmission dynamics, diagnostic approaches, and prevention strategies associated with Campylobacter infections.   Brief description of the state of knowledge The transmission of Campylobacter spp. typically occurs via the fecal-oral route, with contaminated food, especially poultry, and water serving as common sources of infection. Notably, Campylobacter infections exhibit distinct seasonal patterns and demographic trends, with children and young adults being particularly susceptible. Clinical manifestations range from mild gastrointestinal symptoms to more severe complications, such as reactive arthritis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Diagnosis usually relies on microbiological testing. Some of these methods require specialized cultivation techniques, with challenges posed by the phenotypic diversity of Campylobacter species.   Summary Effective surveillance and prevention strategies are essential for mitigating the burden of campylobacteriosis and its associated sequelae on both individual and population health.  Current research focuses on improving preventive measures, underscoring the importance of advancing public health strategies, and further studies into the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and treatment options. These efforts are crucial for effectively addressing Campylobacteriosis and reducing its effects on human health and agriculture.

Pub Date : 2024-07-22 DOI: 10.12775/qs.2024.17.52378
Guangxin Cheng, Hechong Yang
Introduction and purpose:The 2022 National Gymnastics Championships men's artistic gymnastics competition was examined and analyzed in order to assess the competitive strength of China's men's artistic gymnastics under the new regulations. The analysis included a review of China's men's artistic gymnastics problems and current performance status, as well as suggestions for strengthening the sport. Materials and methods:Using the literature method—searching and analyzing through the CNKI, WOS, library, and other databases—as well as the observation method and mathematical and statistical techniques for statistical analysis of the athletes competing in the various regions and units, as well as field research and study methods involving video and on-site game observation—first-hand information was obtained for this paper's theoretical support. Conclusions: men's artistic gymnastics in China is not developing regionally, with strong regions in the south and weak regions in the north, as well as strong and weak regions in the east and west; These disparities in the sport's development also affect athletes' overall competitive strength, with athletes in various sports having wide disparities in their scores and failing to create a supportive environment for competition, particularly in individual all-around , pommel horse, rings, and horizontal bars projects;Additionally, China's men's artistic gymnastics athletes' age structure needs to be further optimized. It is necessary to continue executing the preparatory plan of mending the short boards and strengthening the strong items.

This article reviews the potential impact of herpes simplex viruses (HSV) on chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). HSV-1 and HSV-2 are prevalent pathogens, with HSV-1 acquired early in life and HSV-2 typically transmitted sexually. Studies have shown an association between HSV and CFS, with HSV-1 detected in saliva and cerebrospinal fluid of CFS patients and elevated HSV-2 antibodies found in CFS patients. Immunological abnormalities, including increased pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, suggest immune dysregulation in CFS patients infected with HSV. HSV infections can also disrupt the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and autonomic nervous system, impacting energy metabolism regulation and contributing to CFS fatigue. Neuroinflammation, indicated by increased translocator protein binding in CFS patients' brains, may play a role in CFS symptoms. However, the mechanisms linking HSV to CFS and the contribution of viral-induced neuroinflammation are still unclear. Despite the evidence, understanding the complex interactions between HSV, immune responses, and other factors in CFS remains challenging. In conclusion, HSV, particularly HSV-1 and HSV-2, may contribute to CFS development. Further research is needed to unravel the mechanisms involved and identify potential therapeutic interventions.
总之,HSV(尤其是 HSV-1 和 HSV-2)可能会导致 CFS 的发生。
