This reading of Patriagonia (2014), a collection of poems written by the Huichille-Chilean poet, Ivonne Conuecar, delves into the aesthetics of three of her texts gathered in this edition: Catabatica (2011), Adiabatica (2009) and Anabatica (unpublished until 2014) from a feminist and queer, intersectional and decolonial perspective. We explore the weavings of non-binary relationships of identity, territory and nation-state, as a series of geodesic and erotic, geopoetic and political revolts. The poetic speaker accounts for sparks and disruptive memory shifts, amidst multiple assemblages of power that encompass the body, the heteropatriarchal family and the capital centrality of the neoliberal state.

Taking as a standpoint the discussion between Ann Cvetkovich (2003) and Sara Ahmed (2015) regarding the idea of the archive, we pretend to delimit a specific form of the archival practice which considers ethical and affective dimensions and to contribute to revise the notion of historical representation and the statute of archival documents. To do so, we propose to explore a series of aesthetical productions of Albertina Carri—Restos (2010), Operacion Fracaso y el Sonido Recobrado (2015) and Cuatreros (2017)—with the objective of inquiring on the ways in which she builds the archive and conceives the documents, attending to recover the role of experience, territory and memory over Argentinian recent past.

Starting at the end of the eighteenth century, in the European culture took place a transformation of the concepts of reason and imagination, with the latter being a privileged ability of the human mind for the romantics. In this text, it will be shown examples of the increase in the appreciation of that ability, whose apotheosis can be observed in William Blake’s original aesthetics. The aforesaid artist provides an example of a tendency that was common during various decades, a romantic attitude of which he is the prime example; it will also talk about his influences, neoplatonic thinkers and mystic occultists such as Böhme and Swedenborg.

This paper presents different ways to articulate the notions of tradition and modernity in art and architecture according to the contents of number 11 (1936) of Revista de Arte (Academy of Fine Arts at Universidad de Chile) dedicated to Argentina. The analysis focuses on two articles. The first one: “Emilio Pettoruti: brujula de la pintura argentina”, by Leonardo Estarico. The second one: “America y la nueva arquitectura” by Martin Noel. Estarico proposes the concepts of form and plastic as universal territories, while Noel establishes the American continent as an essential source for local art and architecture.

El mayor capital de nuestra narrativa, enclaustrada bajo un techo de acero, es el yo, que ha dejado a oscuras a la otredad, el colectivo. Esta narrativa se adscribe rigurosamente al realismo capitalista, centrada en un yo, esencialista, deshistorizada, emotiva, privatizada en cuanto a la preocupación por él/la sujeto/a protagonista y su entorno afectivo; además, sin expectativas de futuro, en constante trayecto hacia el pasado infantil o adolescencial. La definición del momento histórico por el que actualmente atraviesa la literatura chilena, es el de un lento pero decidido declive hacia la insignificancia. No está a punto de desaparecer, por el contrario, se está publicando mucho, incluso en pandemia. Tampoco quiero decir que en este siglo no se hayan publicado obras valiosas. Las hay y en buen número. Más bien se trata del corrimiento de lo literario en su conjunto hacia una zona de insignificancia cultural. Camino a convertirse en un nicho de consumo definido por un rango decidida-mente decreciente, la literatura parece estar rebelándose poco frente a este dramático hecho.

Several contemporary analyses postulate a change in the representational regime over “the public sphere” —destitution of logos through the irruption of the image. Given this diagnosis, we suggest addressing the premature existence of a visual regime that is constitutive of the public field. There it is composed a regime of images that expresses the conditions of visibility and the grammars of the civic order which diagram the birth of the city and the “political community”. This research report postulates the need to undertake a “visual archaeology of the public sphere” that notices the historical, figurative and performative density of an incipient configuration of the “public image” and the visual order of “the public sphere”.

El objetivo del trabajo es demostrar que el periódico Correo de la Exposición (1875), surgido como suplemento de la Exhibición Internacional de Chile de 1875, fue un “aparato estético” (Déotte), superando su carácter complementario. La novedad de este trabajo radica en que se descubre el discurso cientificista y artístico que profundiza los avances obtenidos en am-bas materias hacia 1875. Las conclusiones del trabajo señalan que Correo de la Exposición impuso sus propias reglas exhibitivas y mecanismos de aparición especialmente de las Bellas Artes, por lo cual es un periódico relevante para la historia de la crítica artística chilena.

This essay asks the question of writing and the modes of narrating the crisis produced by the social outbreak in Chile. It aims at thinking possible languages for several aesthetic productions: texts, bodies, individual and collective signs that have enabled to propose meanings. The essay engages with languages written during or after the social outbreak; in a traditional genre or in an unconventional writing proposal; either on paper or using other mediums; with recognized authorship or in the anonymity of the streets and the popular voice. These languages show that the unknown, the still unsaid, the still without history are named in the imaginary power of diverse writings. Such diversity produces an enrichment of the literary in the way it relates to history.
