The implementation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) nowadays has developed to incredible extent. This system is proved to be very useful not only in the sense of the safety of the vehicles, but also ease the users. The aim of this study is the implementation of ITS in UKM campus bus. The main problem is that the campus buses are not consistent and do not follow the schedule, causing students to be late to class. In this research, a prototype of bus identification and monitoring system using Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) and Geographical Information System (GIS) is to be developed. RFID is the technique used to monitor and identify the location of a certain bus, presented in the form of map aided by GIS software. The tag and the reader of the RFID devices are wirelessly connected. The signal sent out by the tag will be read by the reader when both the devices are in the fixed proximity. The read signal is then sent for data utilization, where filtered and clean information interpreted is passed to GIS software. Authorities can not only monitor the bus, but can also identify the particulars of the bus, such as the name of the driver and the bus' registration number. This system enables the UKM campus bus system to be more punctual, thus solving the current problem faced.

In this paper, the case study will be Sigma Delta ADC that will simulated in behavioural level using MATLAB SIMULINK to analyze the performance and the parameters that affect the performance. Sigma Delta ADC is the most commonly used ADC due to its advantage of trading off the speed with resolution at high sampling rate. High resolution ADC provide higher accuracy of data, converts from analogue to digital. With Sigma Delta ADC as oversampling converter, the performance will be evaluated using SNR, SFDR and SNR without INL and DNL influencing the ADC performances.

Time series analysis has been applied intensively and sophisticatedly to model and forecast many problems in the biological, physical and environmental phenomena of interest. This fact accounts for the basic engineering problem in forecasting the daily peak system load to use time series analysis. ARMA and Regression with ARMA errors models are among the times series models considered. ANFIS, a hybrid model from neural network is also discussed as for comparison purposes. The main interest of the forecasts consists of three days up to seven days ahead predictions for daily data. The objective is to find an appropriate model for forecasting the Malaysian peak daily demand of electricity. The pure autoregressive model with an order 2 or AR (2) has the minimum AIC statistic value compared with other ARMA models. AR (2) model recorded the value for the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) as 1.27 % for the prediction of 3 days ahead from Jan 1 to 3, 2005. Besides AR(2) model, Regression model with ARMA errors and ANFIS were found to be among the best forecasting models for weekdays with MAPE value from 0.1 % to 3 %.

Stuttering is a speech disorder in which the normal flow of speech is disrupted by occurrences of dysfluencies, such as repetitions, interjection and so on. There are a high proportion of repetitions and prolongations in stuttered speech, usually at the beginning of sentences. Consequently, acoustic analysis can be used to classify the stuttered events. This paper describes particular stuttering events to be located as repetitions and prolongations in stuttered speech with feature extraction algorithm. The well known Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) feature extraction is implemented to test its effectiveness in recognizing prolongations and repetitions in a stuttered speech. In this work, two classifiers such as Linear Discriminant Analysis based classifier (LDA) and ¿-nearest neighbors (Λ-1Ν1Ν) are employed and ¿-fold cross-validation was applied to measure classifiers performances. The result of this work shows that the MFCC and classifiers (LDA and Λ-1Ν1Ν) can be used for recognition of repetitions and prolongations in stuttered speech with the average accuracy of 90%.

The ultimate objective of this project is to design a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that both monitors and controls one of the most important equipments in the oil and gas industry, which is the distillation column. Devising a system for monitoring and controlling distillation columns is not just very necessary; it also assures top notch performance of the equipment. The results and analysis are expected to be published as a series of papers. However, this paper deals with only the modeling and simulation of the control process of a binary methanol-water pilot plant. Special attention is given to the PI tuning techniques of Cohen-coon, Multi loop, Ziegler — Nichols and ITAE.

The issue of plant explosion due to gas leakage is a serious problem which impacts the lives of the personnel, damages plant equipments and incurs high cost for maintenance. As this issue is a high risk at hazardous place such as a combustible gas plant, there is an important need to use gas detector which functions to detect gas leakage at a particular area. However, some gas detectors are less reliable in detecting gas due to presence of other unwanted elements which may cause the instruments to malfunction. The objective of the study is to eliminate those unwanted elements in order to maintain the well functioning of the instrument. The paper discusses the Infrared signal absorption by combustible gas and solution to eliminate moisture trapped in gas detector.

This paper describes a doubly balanced Gilbert Cell mixer designed in CMOS technology. A 100 mV input signal was applied at both RF and LO port at different frequencies and their simulation curves were studied, the output voltage is approximately 300 mV. Gilbert cell mixer was designed till to the layout. For the IF filter, passive elements were studied.

The need for proper diagnosis and prediction of motor faults is vital for reliable and smooth operation of industrial sites. This however, is expensive, complex and hard to meet the standard required of reliable protection system. The diagnosis problems are more serious in speed variant motors because of change of placements and configurations of faulty patterns. In this paper, using Motor current signature analysis, a simple and effective method is proposed in pattern reorganization. In this strategy, the possibility of the presence of a fault symptom, in well known frequency zones and, expected portion of detectable faults in significant frequency zones is applied to measure and possibility rank the seriousness of faulty events in electrical machines.

It has been proved through the study of a traditional continuous automatic Form/Fill/Seal packaging machine that the final outlook quality of the package pouch is largely depended on the precise synchronization between longitudinal seal roller drawing movement and transverse roller non-constant speed rotation movement, i.e. to ensure the longitudinal seal drawing speed is the same with the linear speed of the transverse seal roller rotation speed at the moment of the sealing operation. Currently the mechanical non-constant speed transmission is still the mainstream device to implement this coordination. In this paper we investigate the problems existed in such systems and propose a new electric sealing control to coordinate the working between longitudinal and transverse sealing systems. We discuss the physical design and mathematical model to show how it can simplify the current mechanical transmission systems and improve the stability and reliability of the packaging machine. New synchronization scheme also can ensure the accurate seal and cut position and satisfy the requirement of high-speed packaging to greatly improve the quality and also productivity of the production as what has been testified in some industrial applications. It also has the ability to automatically adjust the transverse sealing cycle according to the pouch size.
