Fuzzy traffic light controller using Sugeno method for isolated intersection 基于Sugeno方法的孤立交叉口模糊交通灯控制器

This paper presents a Sugeno-type fuzzy traffic controller for controlling isolated traffic intersection. The model framework used in this study developed using M/M/l queuing theory. The principles and rules for the fuzzy control system are modeled based on the arrivals of vehicles, vehicles queue length at current green phase, and vehicles queue lengths at the other phases. The phase sequence and phase length extension are used in the decision making to switch the current phase to the appropriate next phase. Using the information from its traffic detectors at each of the four lanes of isolated intersection, the fuzzy rule-based system gives optimal signals to adapt the phase lengths to the traffic conditions. The phase sequence is managed by a simple program using if-else statement. In this paper, an isolated traffic intersection is simulated for both fixed-cycle traffic control system and fuzzy logic based traffic control system. The comparison of performance between the two models of traffic light system clearly indicates that the fuzzy logic based traffic lights control system is more efficient, flexible and adaptable in controlling the traffic flow.

Self consistent simulation for C-V characterization of sub 10nm Tri-Gate and Double Gate SOI FinFETs incorporating quantum mechanical effects 结合量子力学效应的亚10nm三栅极和双栅极SOI finfet的C-V特性自一致模拟

Capacitance-Voltage (C-V) characteristics of Tri-Gate (TG) and Double Gate (DG) Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) FinFETs having sub 10nm dimensions are obtained by self consistent method using coupled Schrodinger-Poisson solver taking into account quantum mechanical effects. Though self-consistent simulation to determine current and other short channel effects in these devices have been demonstrated in recent literature, C-V characterization is yet to be done using self-consistent method. We investigate here the C-V characteristics of the devices with the variation of an important process parameter, the silicon film thickness. The gate inversion capacitance should be higher in TG FinFET than that of DG FinFET because of the presence of thick oxide layer under the top gate of DG FinFET. Simulation results validate this phenomenon with an indication that drive current tends to increase with an increase in the number of gates.

Performance study on energy consumption and QoS of wireless sensor network under different MAC layer protocols: IEEE802.15.4 and IEEE802.11 不同MAC层协议IEEE802.15.4和IEEE802.11下无线传感器网络能耗和QoS性能研究

IEEE 802.15.4 is a relatively new standard uniquely designed for low rate wireless personal area networks (LR-WPANs), which focus on low cost, efficient energy consumption and complexity. These characteristics are very appealing for wireless sensor network which mainly use IEEE 802.11 for its operation. The work would examine the performance of IEEE 802.15.4 compared to IEEE 802.11 in term of energy consumption and Quality of Services (QoS). The outcome of this work is to appraise these two MAC protocol using NS-2 simulation tool.

Visitor face tracking system using OpenCV library 访客面部跟踪系统使用OpenCV库

This paper presents the development of visitor face tracking system using OpenCV library. This system can be used for security purpose to record the visitor face. The user can identify who had been visiting him/her when away from the place. Visitors just need to appear in front of the web camera for at least 10 second, their image will be recorded. The system provides several functions such as activation of objects detection by user and retrieves the visitor's data. User can print out, delete or save the visitor image. The system had been tested in the real application environment.

The high temperature inside a grain storage will cause grain damage and thus lower the quality of the grain. Currently, aeration system is installed in grain storage to overcome this problem. This system has been proven practical, suitable and economical in the humid topics like Malaysia [1]. However, the automatic aeration system is not yet available in our country. So, the objective of this project is to develop a monitoring and control system for the grain storage. The monitoring system which is also known as SCADA system will monitor and control the aeration process in the grain storage. This paper will also discuss the aeration system design that consists of 4 important elements which is airflow rate, fan selection, air distribution and ventilation system. The system configuration that comprises hardware and software is designed to demonstrate the automatic aeration system.

Analysis of networks buffer using discrete-time queueing models 用离散时间排队模型分析网络缓冲区

The operation of digital systems are based on time slotting and it finds many applications particularly in communication networks. It is important to analyze a digital network on some digital concepts. In this paper we analyze the network buffer through discrete time queueing system in which queue is discrete in nature and it is used to analyze the performance of the communication networks buffer. Discrete time models can be used to represents such type of systems in terms of slotted time units to models any physical system. More than one state changes in discrete time models from one time unit to another. Discrete time markov chains are used to describes the behavior of the network under the specific conditions and various performance measures are evaluated such as queue length, mean waiting time and mean number in the system.

Cell phone based geographical advertisement system (CGAS) 基于手机的地理广告系统

Advertisement is an integral part of a successful business. Since the start of the world, the method of advertisement changed its forms as well as platforms. Earlier, it was in the form of paintings on walls and banners, and then in the form of commercials on radio and then on Television and now on internet. CGAS is based on developing a new type of advertisement system for general hand held devices used for mobile communication such as cell phones, PC phones, PDA phones etc. The aim of this research is to develop a software application through which a cellular phone user can query his Point of Interest (POI) such as universities, hotels, shopping malls, super stores etc. using an interactive map. POI's are registered clients who want to advertise their services. As a search result, the POI will appear as flashing spots on the map of the targeted city and enables the user to gather different kind of information related to the concerned POI such as phone numbers, email address, location etc. User is facilitated to call, SMS, email or open the website of that POI in a web browser, etc. using his or her cellular phone.

Web service reputation-based search agent 基于Web服务声誉的搜索代理

The semantic web service is an emerging technology which automates discovery and execution of web services on web. Software agent is a main component in building semantic web and acts as middleware between users and web services to find the service that best fits the consumer's requirements. The UDDI registry is used to find service providers and web services published by service providers. The problem, however is that the current UDDI registries do not provide information on quality or reputation of web services. The user has to perform intensive search till the best service is found. We propose a reputation based search agent which performs enhanced search by executing and ranking the list of web services based on QoS requirements of users. The ranking is performed based on reputation of each web service which is regularly and dynamically updated. This model searches registered web services based on keyword taken from user, executes each web service, ranks them according to Qos requirement of user and display the ranked list of end result. The model thus provides users with high probability of quick and successful discovery of web services.

Software agent is a main component in building semantic web and acts as middleware between users and web services to find the service that best fits the consumer's requirements. The UDDI registry is used to find service providers and web services published by service providers. The problem, however is that the current UDDI registries do not provide information on quality or reputation of web services. The user has to perform intensive search till the best service is found. We propose a reputation based search agent which performs enhanced search by executing and ranking the list of web services based on QoS requirements of users. The ranking is performed based on reputation of each web service which is regularly and dynamically updated. This model searches registered web services based on keyword taken from user, executes each web service, ranks them according to Qos requirement of user and display the ranked list of end result. The effectiveness of biofeedback training among university students 大学生生物反馈训练的有效性

University students need some support program to improve the academic performance. Biofeedback training is one of the effectiveness programs to help students handling the problem regarding of their study process. In this research, the biofeedback training to manage study anxiety in order to increase academic performance among students is proposed. The research was selected for 12 participants. They are divided into two equal groups, the experiment and the control groups. The training runs on six sessions with the experiment groups received full training and no training of the control groups. The result shows that the experiment groups perform better in reducing anxiety levels as well as increase academic performance than that the control groups. Based on these results, biofeedback training can be concluded as an effective program to improve academic performance among university students. Therefore, the participants should be practiced the techniques to get the intensive level in mastering regarding of managing study anxiety and improving academic performance.

PAPR reduction of OFDM signals using convolutional codes 利用卷积码降低OFDM信号的PAPR

In this paper, we reduce the peak to average power ratio in OFDM systems using selective mapping technique that employs convolutional codes to avoid the need for the transmission of side-information. Since convolutional codes are already being used as forward error correction (FEC) block set in broadcasting systems like DAB/DVB and networks like WLAN/WMAN, we shall follow the coding standards set in these systems and then use them to bring down the PAPR along with improving the BER.
