Previous publications reported that around 1.5 million individuals suffer from chronic liver disease. Liver cancer is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fourth leading cause of related death worldwide. A recent study in Isfahan province, Iran confirmed a period prevalence (2013-2015) of 18.5 per 100000 persons associated with liver cancer (comprise of 20.9 for males and 16.8 for females). It is well known that different available screening methods could reduce the burden of liver disease and liver cancer. This is a focused literature review with the keywords relevant to; Biomarkers " " Biocatalyst " "Pathology" “Potential History ” “Liver Disease " and “Liver Cancer ", based on the search associated with the topic of interest in; Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science. For hepatocellular carcinoma, early detection ultrasound-based surveillance was reported as 45%. Alpha-fetoprotein-Lens culinaris-agglutinin-reactive and des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin with abdominal ultrasound could increase the sensitivity of early detection in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. A raised neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is considered a prognostic indicator for patients with cancer. Serum alanine aminotransferase for predicting progression associated with chronic liver disease was reported as a more sensitive and robust marker. For estimating the overall mortality, serum alanine aminotransferase , aspartate transaminase, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase confirmed clinically economic markers. High-quality imaging, MRI, and in some patients guided biopsy proposed. For early prevention of liver disease, regional anthropometric measures based on the; fat index (arm, hip, and waist circumference) besides body mass index, age, and alanine aminotransferase suggested values . Further evidence-based pharmacotherapy studies are recommended to be advantageous.

Double primary malignancies are rarely observed in breast malignancy, and frequently documented in hematological and gynecological malignancies due to genetic mutations. In present case report, 48-year female presented with left breast carcinoma undergone surgical treatment and received first chemotherapy cycle. Her general health deteriorated and present in our center due to worsened dyspnea. Her radiological workup shown possible metastatic lung process from on treatment carcinoma left breast as classically described ‘bilateral cannon ball’ opacities with middle lobe lung mass. Bronchoscopy was done in critical care unit with oxygen supplementation in sick health after clinical stability. Bronchoscopy workup documented Lung adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemistry confirmed as Primary lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR positivity. Palliative care was offered due to poor performance status and EGFR targeted therapy was initiated. In this case report we have documented concurrent occurrence of carcinoma breast and adenocarcinoma lung as double primary malignancy.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS). MS diagnosis and disease monitoring are mostly based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This study aims to compare a double inversion recovery MRI sequence with a fluid-attenuated inversion recovery sequence in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the brain. A study was conducted on 75 patients whose aged between 10 and 70 years who were having MS in the brain to compare a double inversion recovery DIR sequence with a fluid-attenuated inversion recovery FLAIR sequence at King Salman Specialist Hospital. in this study the age group (30-49) and female patient represented the highest percentage (69%) and (60%) respectively, A correlation between DIR and FLAIR in terms of the number of MS lesions and mean ±SD was found. DIR detected a higher total number of MS lesions in 75 patients tested (a total of 1886 MS lesions were detected in DIR compared to 1723 MS lesions in FLAIR). FLAIR imaging showed higher rates of periventricular lesions (a total of 508 lesions, the Mean ±SD was 9.5± 9.5) than DIR imaging (a total of 423 lesions, the Mean ± SD was 9.0± 9.0), statistically significant (p = 0.007). The DIR sequence detected a higher total number of MS lesions than the FLAIR sequence, while the FLAIR sequence is better at detecting periventricular lesions. There was no statistically significant relationship between the patient’s age groups and the number of lesions in DIR and FLAIR P-value > 0.05.

The kidney is an important organ for the elimination of waste products. However, insults to the kidney arising from the effects of reactive oxygen species could limit its functions. This study evaluated the nephroprotective effects of Gum Arabic, an FDA-approved edible fiber against aluminum chloride (AlCl3)-induced nephrotoxicity in rats and its impact on XRCC1 gene expression and Ki67 and p53 immunoreactivity. Twenty male Wistar rats were divided into four groups of five (n = 20). In Group 1, there was no intervention for the control group. A 5-mg/kg intraperitoneal (IP) AlCl 3 dosage was administered to Group 2 throughout a 2-week period. Gum Arabic (GA) extract was administered orally to Group 3 for 4 weeks at a dose of 500 mg/kg body weight. Group 4 received an IP dose of AlCl 3 at 5mg/kg body weight for 2 weeks followed by a 500 mg/ kg body weight oral dose of GA extract for 4 weeks. The following variables were evaluated: body weight, relative kidney weight, serum urea, uric acid, tissue oxidative stress, ERCC1 gene expression, kidney histology, and Ki67 and p53 immunoreactivity. The findings demonstrated that giving rats AlCl3 reduced the amount of SOD, and GSH in their kidneys and caused alteration in the kidney tissue histoarchitecture, while also increasing the serum levels of urea, tissue lipid peroxidation, and Ki67 and p53 positive immunoreactivity. Interestingly, GA treatment following AlCl3 administration to rats mitigated these changes. Taken together, this study showed the capacity of Gum Arabic as a nephroprotective agent against AlCl3-induced nephrotoxicity.

It is unclear why aging causes a drop in lymphoid-biased HSC numbers and a decline in lymphoid progenitor quality. One possibility is that stem and progenitor cells have inherently programmed processes at work, which would imply that these cells have an internal clock that controls their functionality and lifetime . This study aims to summarize current evidence regarding the Effect of aging on White Blood Cells Count and immunity. The PubMed database and EBSCO Information Services were utilised to choose the articles. In our review, all pertinent articles related to our subject and other publications were used. Other articles that have nothing to do with this subject were not included. The group members looked through a certain format in which the data had been extracted. The WBC count merits consideration as a potentially clinically helpful indicator of survival in individuals aged 75 and older, particularly in women. Monocyte count and total white blood cell count both peaked at the 50th and 97.5th quantiles at birth before significantly declining in the first six months of life. A relatively gradual decline persisted until the age of two. Contrary to the tendency for the neutrophil count, the lymphocyte count peaked in early childhood and subsequently fell as people aged. As the immune system is exposed to infections and environmental non-self-antigens more often after early infancy. This pattern appears to represent the development of acquired and adaptive immune responses.

The incidence of new childhood cancer cases is 15.3 per 100,000 per year, or nearly 1 in 6,500 children and adolescents under the age of 20, notwithstanding the rarity of the disease. The largest nation in the Gulf is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The provision of the best healthcare is hampered by a young population with longer life expectancies, a recognised rising cancer burden both locally and globally.Similar to other developing nations, the incidence of cancer has increased over time in KSA, which may be attributable to advancements in medical technology, diagnostic methods, and an efficient system for referring patients for additional testing and treatment to well-known tertiary hospitals and oncology-specific treatment facilities in the major cities. The study seeks to provide an overview of recent developments on the incidence of paediatric cancer in Saudi Arabia. As the most common form of paediatric cancer in KSA, leukaemia requires an immediate diagnosis in order to develop a treatment plan that will have the greatest therapeutic benefit and the fewest adverse effects. There are further cancers with lesser prevalence rates, such as lymphoma, kidney, bone, and brain tumours.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has a 50% 5-year survival rate which depends on several factors including micronutrients such as iron. Further, iron not only has profound effects on the growth and development of OSCC but also can influence the progression and prognosis of OSCC an important role in the progression of OSCC. In the study, FFPE (formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded) OSCC tissue segment samples were examined for the presence of intracellular iron. From the archives, previously diagnosed FFPE were retrieved, and 3-micron tissue sections were made. The tissue section is then subsequently stained with Perl's Prussian blue stain. A trained pathologist evaluated and interpreted the stained tissue section. Histopathological analysis showed scarce iron deposits within OSCC cells after staining with Perl’s Prussian blue stain which showed the blue-colored deposits with the tissue cells. There is the presence of small traces of intracellular iron in OSCC which supports the view that iron might play a role in OSCC growth and proliferation. Determining intracellular iron using Perl Prussian blue stain is a convenient and inexpensive method to determine the outcome of the treatment of the cases with OSCC.
