: The essay seeks to analyse the conceptual trajectories of the intersection between underdevelopment and culture in the cultural media of the Left in Latin America during the 1960s. To that end, it proposes a reading of two spaces of discussion that are representative of Left-wing intellectuals during the period: the editorial circuit linked to the Cuban journal Casa de las Américas and the Cultural Congress of Havana (1968). The paper holds that Latin American cultural producers are able to generate a specific inflection in the concept of underdevelopment that identifies correlations between an economic and a cultural infrastructure, while at the same time practising a strong ambiguity in the semantic contents of the concept as it was used in the field of social sciences at the time.

The article describes the context and methodological lines of an ethnographic research process with Dockers, focused on the elucidation of the problems associated with the logistics modernization of the port world in the city of Valparaíso. It seeks to show the relevance of this social research strategy for the case and outlines the analytical category of "production of boundaries in the port logistics world" as the main ethnographic result.

This article seeks through the favorable factors to the “ the left turn” that happened in Latin America, between 1998 and 2010, through two successful cases: Brazil and Uruguay, in order to explain the cases of Peru and Colombia, where the democratic left did not rise to the presidential power during this same period. Its purpose is to clarify why this was so despite the fact that these last two countries were conditioned by identical or similar factors to those that conditioned the countries where the democratic left was effective in reaching presidential power. This article does not seek to start from the determination according to which all Latin American countries had to go through the “left turn”, but to show what were the factors that hindered the arrival to the left and that separate these two countries: Peru and Colombia from the rest of the region while identifying them through their similarities.

Based on the debate on the Theory of Value, we propose to review its relevance to complexly analyze the State, the public fund and social policies. We maintain that incorporating this category of Marx allows us to unveil the role that States fulfill in the processes of accumulation of capital in contemporary times. In parallel, the counterface is the category of superexploitation that expresses one of the consequences that have occurred since the transformations of the world of work on a global scale, and where these public policies have the function of reproducing the labor force. Methodologically it responds to an interpretative examination of classical texts, and secondary bibliography, which allows a brief approximation to the Theory of Value in Marx, and to the superexploitation category in order to establish the articulations with the mechanisms of the States to guarantee the processes of capital accumulation, through the public fund and the social policies. * Chilena, coautora.
