This article is devoted to the problems addressed in the book of the famous writer, essayist, literary critic, cultural critic and literary critic A.A. Genis “Ticket to China” (2001). Analyzing the distinctive features of the essay, the uniqueness of the themes and the individual characteristics of the narrator, the authors conclude that Genis does not follow the widespread idea of confrontation between the West and the East. Genis presents to the reader the idea of the East as a kind of mystery of the special proximity of Eastern culture to the natural origins of life and shows the West as the center of thought, ready to solve this mystery.

The critical understanding of the text written in the most widely spoken foreign language (English) has become a bedrock to many academic and social breakthrough while an understanding of Arabic text gives context to the written text. The article aims to seek the role of Saudi universities in developing free and critical reading among university students in both Arabic and English languages as the development of any nation depends on competent and skilled graduates that are capable of critical thinking geared towards problem solving and the application of knowledge.

The essence of the development of five successive US strategies for the Central Asia during the past 30 years was the evolution of America's strategic perception, instead of its absolute strategic capability in this area. In the implementation of its strategic perception, US strategic planning toward the Central Asia went through four stages of evolution, while changed its strategic boundary from “two Central Asia” to “one Central Asia”.

In Europe, the study of Russian art song is very standardized and systematized, it is widely used in the field of vocal music teaching in universities, and its content is also very high. In China, with the realization of China's “One Belt, One Road” strategy and the increasing cultural exchange between Russia and China, Russian art songs gradually attract the attention of vocal music teachers in Chinese teacher training colleges and universities and are studied accordingly. Therefore, it is very important to recover the value of Russian art songs in terms of their structural proportions, aesthetics and other aspects of the original musical system, as well as their current status and application in vocal music teaching in Chinese teacher training colleges.

The authors attempt to evaluate, based on memoir sources, some aspects of the daily life of the people, the army and the ruling elite of the Crimea during the reign of P.N. Wrangel on the peninsula. The study makes an additional contribution to clarifying the question of an alternative, namely, the possibility of continuing the anti-Bolshevik struggle in the Crimea in 1920. The main sources are the memoirs of figures of the anti-Bolshevik movement who were in the Wrangel Crimea. The article identifies the causes of the growing infrastructure crisis that hit the peninsula.

This article examines the opinions of Chinese historians of the second half of the 20th early 21st centuries about the fundamental turning point of the Second World War. The study revealed that Chinese historians have their own view on the course, stages and main battles of the Second World War, where the victory of the Chinese in the Sino-Japanese War occupies a central place. Some Chinese historians propose to revise both the date of the beginning of the Second World War and its history itself, trying to emphasize the importance of China in the victory over fascism and militarism during the Second World War.

The article reveals the historical experience of the use of armored vehicles by the internal troops of the NKVD in the fight against Ukrainian nationalist gangs on the territory of Western Ukraine in the third period of the Great Patriotic War. In 1944, due to the fact that the OUN-UPA had the strength to act in large formations, the use of tanks turned out to be the most effective. Since the beginning of 1945, due to the fact that the nationalists changed the tactics of confrontation, breaking up into mobile small detachments and groups quickly hiding in the forest, the use of tanks gradually became ineffective.
