AbstractSafe Zone trainings are ubiquitous on college campuses but remain understudied as a social justice educational intervention (SJEI). Focusing on data from 56 higher education professionals who facilitate LGBTQ+ SJEIs, a subset of a larger reseach project, we describe their facilitation styles and approaches to facilitation. Findings indicate a lack of formal facilitation training and participant reliance on personal testimonials to inform and bolster content. Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors.

AbstractThis study utilized 2014 data from the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) to explore the association between Black college students’ perceptions of the campus diversity climate and academic outcomes, including academic behaviors, engagement, GPA and satisfaction with the academic and social experience. Findings revealed climate perceptions were positively associated with positive academic engagement and negatively associated with negative engagement. Climate perceptions also positively influenced GPA and satisfaction with the academic and social experience. Disclosure StatementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors.
