to map cases and deaths from COVID-19 in nursing professionals, estimating their incidence and fatality rates by region and federative units, and verify the existence of spatial patterns among the federative units.
ecological study based on the electronic portals Observatório de Enfermagem and Enfermagem em Números, with analysis using the R 4.3.1 software. The incidence and fatality rates were calculated, and choropleth maps were constructed by region and federative units. The Global Moran Index was used to verify spatial autocorrelation.
the study covered 64,451 cases of COVID-19, with a female predominance (85.2%) and a focus on nursing technicians (59.3%), with a higher percentage in the Southeast region (36.3%). Deaths were predominantly female (68%), with the North region standing out (27.9%). The fatality rate in these cases was highest in the North region (4.25%) and in the state of Amazonas (28.47%). The spatial analysis showed regional variations, with autocorrelation in the overall case fatality rate in 2020 and for nursing technicians, without significant autocorrelation for other categories.
the mapping of COVID-19 cases and deaths in nursing revealed regional disparities and variations in incidence and fatality rates, highlighting the need to discuss the quality of health services and the effectiveness of the government response.

to identify the interactional processes that allow surviving families to cope with the death by suicide of one of their members, to restructure themselves as a unit and transform the experience into a learning experience.
a qualitative, exploratory study, guided by the concept of Family Resilience, in which eight families, who experienced the suicide of one of their members participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and the data were submitted to thematic analysis.
the results were organized into four thematic groups and revealed grief, despair, and perplexity of family members who could not understand the reasons for such a radical act; the feelings of pain due to the loss, overlapped with anger, relief and guilt. Blame was shared with other people and the social and health services; and the lessons that the experience provides.
nurses and other healthcare professionals can help surviving families to restructure themselves after the suicide of one of their members, implementing care actions based on repeated assessments of the repercussions of suicide on the family as a whole and on its members individually; identifying the most compromised dimensions of family life; individual and family needs; and family resilience processes.

to evaluate defining characteristics of nursing diagnoses that are predictors of mental health disorders among undergraduate students in the post-COVID-19 era.
cross-sectional, multicenter study conducted with undergraduate students from four public universities in the state of Minas Gerais. Data were collected through a structured, online questionnaire with sociodemographic and clinical variables. The presence of defining characteristics included in the Nursing Diagnoses of Anxiety, Change Stress Syndrome; Post-Trauma Syndrome; Stress Overload and Chronic Sadness, present in the NANDA-I taxonomy, was also investigated through self-report. The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale and the Impact of Events Scale-Revised were also used. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the defining characteristics that were configured as predictors of mental health disorders. Adjusted odds ratios were estimated, along with 95% confidence intervals, at 5% significance.
2,349 undergraduate students participated in the study. The presence of 24 physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional defining characteristics of the nursing diagnoses in question was investigated. Of these, 13 emerged as predictors for anxiety symptoms; 15 for stress symptoms; 11 for depression symptoms; and 15 for post-traumatic stress disorder.
physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional defining characteristics of NANDA-I nursing diagnoses were evidenced as predictors for the development of mental health disorders in university students in the post-COVID-19 era.

to explore health literacy among main caregivers of Children with Special Health Care Needs by identifying limitations and potentialities and their relationship with socioeconomic variables, information sources and social support.
a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study conducted with 139 caregivers. The data were collected between December 2022 and April 2023 in a hospital from southern Brazil, by means of the Children with Special Health Care Needs Screener, the Health Literacy Questionnaire and a characterization questionnaire. The analysis involved descriptive and inferential statistics.
a number of limitations were identified in active care, social support and ability to find good health information. Diverse potentialities were noticed in assessing the information and interacting with health professionals. There was a positive association between the "Schooling level" and "Family income" variables and the "Feel understood and supported by healthcare providers" ( p =0.006), "Have social support for health" ( p =0.000) and "Appraise health information" ( p =0.038) scales.
the interventions for caregivers should strengthen active care, social support and access to information, considering the influence exerted by the socioeconomic factors and the importance of good communication with health professionals to improve access, understanding and leverage of the guidelines, thus enhancing care quality and safety.

to assess the effectiveness of a self-efficacy-based educational intervention to increase the self-care capacity of informal caregivers of older adults with dementia.
quasi-experimental study, with pre- and post-intervention assessment, without control group. Participants included 17 informal caregivers of older adults with dementia. The intervention had three stages: Pre-intervention with data collection to characterize the caregivers, measurement of overload, self-care capacity, and perceived self-efficacy; Intervention using four videos produced by the researcher based on the four self-efficacy belief sources of Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory; Post-intervention with new measurement of self-care capacity. We performed descriptive analyses, normality test and non-parametric Wilcoxon Rank-Sum test and paired t-test, considering a significance level of 0.05. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, under opinion 4,622,301, and was registered in the Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials - RBR-7gfvn3y.
the comparative analysis of the effect of the educational intervention on self-care capacity found increased post-intervention mean value (102.11) in relation to the pre-intervention mean value (95.00), with statistical significance (p=0.029).
the self-efficacy-based educational intervention was effective in increasing self-care capacity for informal caregivers of older adults with dementia.

to verify the effect of skills training and simulated scenarios performed subsequently or belatedly on the motivation for learning of medical students.
experimental pre- and post-test study with control and intervention groups. Fifty second-year medical students participated and were randomized into two groups: control group (dialogical exposure, skills training and simulated scenarios after 12 hours) and intervention group (dialogical exposure, skills training and simulated scenarios after 21 days). The Situational Motivation Scale was used for analysis.
all students showed increased motivation. In the control group, intrinsic motivation increased before and after the simulated scenario (p=0.011). In the intervention group, intrinsic motivation increased before and after skills training (p=0.013), before and after the simulated scenario (p=0.024) and after skills training compared to the simulated scenario (p=0.011), with a reduction in amotivation (p=0.035).
skills training and simulated scenarios increase student motivation. However, there is a need to better understand the impacts of different intervals between activities.
