A Collaborative Learning Network for Education Communities of Practice in Brazil 巴西教育实践社区的协作学习网络

Collaborative learning networks are often used for collaborative organizational learning and communities of practice, providing opportunities to peer-to-peer learning and coaching. This article reports the experience of teachers and trainers involved in a collaborative learning network using a blog tool. The experience was developed in 13 Technological Learning Centers (TLC), belonging to the Regional Directorate of Teaching (strategically positioned in 13 cities of the State of Tocantins-Brazil). The purpose of this article is to describe the network structure and the innovations in collaborative learning relationships, and to analyze the collaborative learning network in terms of topology, time in activity, frequency of access and quantity of publications. The results showed that in terms of access, there is a period of more interaction and updating of posts in all blogs, but there was a discontinuity of use by some members of the network. Meanwhile, the quantitative of access revealed that even blogs that are more than 3 years without new publications, they remain accessed. The analysis of the network served as an instrument for monitoring and evaluating the TLC actions to support decision making in education public policies of Tocantins state.

The Influence of Technology Readiness on Use Intention toward Information System 技术准备度对信息系统使用意愿的影响

A Multiple Media Kiosk (MMK) not only saves lots of cost for organization, but plays a role in innovating of self-service technology (SST). This research wanted to find factors of improving user intention in MMK by studying MMK in convenience stores in Taiwan, making more innovations in SST will come true in the future. This study used Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explain the behavior of using MMK, in the meantime, we premised that user experience to the internet service and the acceptance to the application of the new technology could also affect it in the multichannel and multimedia retailing environment. So we used two dimensions, Interactive and Technology Readiness, to describe above circumstances and made assumption that these two dimensions could be the external variable of TAM. Final, confirming these relations by SEM was our research method in statistic. After analyzing data from Online-survey by AMOS, the results indicated that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use (two factors in TAM) were significant influence on the behavior of using MMK, moreover, Technology Readiness also could be antecedent variable to the TAM. But, as moderator, Interactive did not have the interaction effect in this research. Therefore, the conclusion implies that maybe it is a good idea to corporations who try to improve their usage in MMK via developing the mobile channel.

Evaluating Critical Success Factors for Adoption Decision of e-Learning Facilities in Bangladesh by Using DEMATEL Approach 使用DEMATEL方法评估孟加拉国电子学习设施采用决策的关键成功因素

The aim of the study is to evaluating critical success factors for adoption decision of e-Learning facilities in Bangladesh. This research proposed the DEMATEL approach to evaluate possible critical success factors (CSFs) influencing organizational decision to adopt e-learning facilities in the level of primary education system (PES). A quantitative survey method was performed through the structured questionnaire. The questionnaire involved pairwise comparison of elements on a five-point scale ranging from 0 to 4 respectively (0 = No influence, 1 = Low influence, 2 = Medium influence 3 = High influence 4 = Very High influence). The survey questionnaire was distributed to 14 (n=14) experts of educational department for obtaining their judgment. MATLAB-2019 a, SPSS-23 and MS Excel were used to analyze the data. The result of this study revealed that the expert’s member is more concerned about human and technology related dimensions that are substantially higher than those of other dimensions with influence value of prominence and relation (r±c) 0.5602, and 1.5690 respectively. This study proposed an approach for the strategic planning of e-learning facilities within the primary education system based on effective group decision making from the perspective of human, technology, organization, and environmental dimensions’ processes. However, the government should allocate enough budget to ensure quality education based on the core dimensions of HTOE model. The authors recommended to the policy makers to incorporate e-learning facilities in the primary education institutes based on the principles of e-learning systems under the access to information (A2I) national project.

Low-Threshold Production of Peer-to-Peer Lecture Films 点对点讲座影片的低门槛制作

Lecture videos are more and more implemented in higher education to be used widely by students providing an audio and visual stimulus. To attract students and become a fully accepted learning material these videos need to be of a certain standard. An important factor to the success of these videos is to involve students directly into the concept and making-of (peer-to-peer approach). The peer-to-peer approach is an important aspect in terms of project success, quality of the content and lecture video quality because students` needs and their perspective on teaching material are directly included in the videos. To encourage lecturers this paper provides a short guidance to look at basic needs and requirements of the lecture film production and “just get started”. Good lecture videos may successfully be produced with low threshold.

The Legitimacy of Clustered Firms: A Dynamic Perspective 集群企业的合法性:一个动态的视角

A country’s competitive advantage is often characterized on a specific industry in which firms are drastically inclined to clustering together. The previous literature has limited discussion on how the clustered firms through constantly renovate their own abilities and by complying with the institutional legitimacy to gain recognition and support among the other members of the cluster so that they can gain access to cluster’s resources to create and maintain its competitive advantage. Although there are researches focusing on how industrial structure help clustered firms to generate competitive advantages, some empirical studies show that in a fast-changing environment, firms usually fail to adapt to sudden policy or technological changes. Thus, based on dynamic absorption capacity and institutional legitimacy, this study seeks to explore how the clustered firms absorb, learn, integrate and exploit new abilities continuously, as well as develop and utilize external knowledge and capabilities to adapt to rapid environmental changes. In addition, emerging economies have attracted an increasing amount of attention because of rapidly expanding economies and rapid-growth markets provide tremendous business opportunities, especially the China which affects many countries’ economies in the word. The results of this study express that the dynamic absorptive capabilities have positive effect on a clustered firm’s performance, but if a clustered firm always conform to institutional legitimacy which will result in performance dilemma, which is different from other previous research.

Information Technology Factors Influence the Adoption to Ecommerce in Small and Medium Scale Organizations in Sri Lanka: A Research Agenda 信息技术因素影响斯里兰卡中小规模组织采用电子商务:一个研究议程

Improvement of advance communication technologies and changes of business environments have resulted in as increasing demand for Information Technology (IT) products to be used in businesses today. But unfortunately, the Small and Medium Scale Businesses (SMEs) are not using those technologies effectively and not gain the competitive advantage over competitors. Although prior studies proposed many models and frameworks to understand the barrier to use advance communication technologies, the practicability remain a concern. Furthermore, those frameworks mainly discussing common general barriers and take technology as a barrier among other factors. This study provided critical review of those available frameworks and construct a new one focusing on IT factors. A research model along with its theoretical and managerial implications is presented. Besides proposing a methodology for future studies, this study also serves to guide practitioners to decide on the key factors to consider when assessing the IT factors effecting the adoption to e-commerce based e-business technologies.

Application of Novel Features in Complex Network for Analyzing Virtual Community 复杂网络新特征在虚拟社区分析中的应用

Virtual community (VC) arises rapidly and influences many aspects of human life styles in real world. Differentiated from traditional way to advertise products/services, VC also enables consumers to participate in interaction activities related to products via threads, learn greater insight about products in deep level while improve consumer loyalty. Most of the extant research did not emphasize or lack of effective methods on how to gain deep learning of product and explain the uniformity of users’ importance in VC. In this paper, based on knowledge in complex network, generalised variance of degree in directed network is proposed to ascertain uniformity of directed network, which is an innovative methodology. Research conclusions can guide enterprises more in-depth understanding of the complex network theory and its application to social network analysis (SNA) with big data streams.

Hospitality Students’ Group Learning Engagement with Social Media – A Malaysia Case 酒店学生团体学习与社交媒体的互动——以马来西亚为例

Millions of young contemporary adolescents and adults use social networking sites. However, little has been revealed about how much, why, and how the personal use of such sites relate to social media use for purposes besides belonging to Internet communities. This research aims to explore whether a relationship exists between the personal use of Social Media and hospitality students’ group engagement; thus shedding light to what retains connectedness and engagement for hospitality students working in groups in the more prominent educational area of Malaysia. 300 undergraduate students in hospitality program completed a three-section questionnaire. The results indicate that Facebook is dominantly perceived by students as a social network in Malaysia that is solely utilized for personal reasons albeit the fact students were found to utilize Facebook as a tool for collaborative group work purposes. Implications for further research are discussed to stress on more in-depth exploration that is necessary to provide a more substantial scope with regards to the use of social media and the group engagement of hospitality students undertaking a broad range of university courses in Hospitality field.

The Effectiveness of Peer-to-Peer Lecture Films in Inverted Classroom Teaching Scenarios 点对点课堂影片在倒置课堂教学情境中的有效性

At HTW Berlin, Germany first year mechanical engineering students are taught material science as one of the fundamental courses with high work load in a blended learning environment with flipped classroom elements. Therefore peer-to-peer lecture films were established as source of theoretical background knowledge provided for self-study periods. Because the teaching method “inverted classroom” and class results directly relate to the quality of the video material one of the columns of lecture video production is the involvement of students in the lecture film production. First year students directly benefit from their fellow student learning experience, needs and perspective on teaching material. From the lecturers perspective students were generally more active and better prepared during class resulting in better grades. Practice examples introduce and evaluate both, the teaching method and videos.

Matching Course Assessment of a First Year Material Science Course to the Blended-Learning Teaching Approach 一年级材料科学课程与混合学习教学法的匹配性课程评估

First year mechanical engineering students fear material science as one of the fundamental courses with high work load. As one of the most of important learning outcomes students are enabled to apply complex science of materials on the appropriate selection of engineering materials in different designs. Here knowledge on the correlation of materials properties, microstructure and their intended manipulation is substantial. The ability to combine these three columns of material science are not well constituted in one final exam. Therefore peer-to-peer lecture film supported inverted classroom scenarios were established to work in the course. These are provided via a highly structured moodle course following the blended learning approach. The special design of the moodle course gives students the chance to cumulatively accomplish micro-grades via multiple activities, such as tests, lectures, presentations, forum discussions and written homework and additionally glossary entries. Micro grades are then summed to obtain the overall course grade. Improved learning outcomes are demonstrated in high quality class discussions and most -important to studentsin better grades (average B) compared to those being assessed by one final exam only (average C+). The majority of students agreed on enhanced study skills when forced to study throughout the entire semester and solve hands-on problems instead of learning theory intensely towards the end of the semester. The learning structure as well as graded activities match the learning outcome – both being crucial elements of the course.
