The main aim of the study was to design a guide for the use of group programs in confronting the causes of the spread of violent behavior among schoolchildren. This descriptive study used the sample survey methodology through a questionnaire applied to a sample of (50) social workers in elementary school in Cairo Governorate. The study results revealed that the widespread patterns of violence among the groups of pupils were: Verbal abuse, beating, and violence against teachers. The results also revealed the reasons for the spread of violent behavior may be the pupils themselves, the teachers, families, or the school. The results proved the importance of investing in activities and group programs to confront violent behavior and to increase awareness among social workers as to the importance of these programs in the alleviation of violent behavior and the confrontation of its causes. Finally, the study suggested a guide for the use of collective programs in confronting the causes of the spread of violent behavior among schoolchildren. The guide contained: Target, considerations that must be respected when in implementation, assumptions, theories and models used, the social group work strategies to deal with violent behavior in schools, group activities that should be used, social worker roles, and finally mechanisms for confronting the causes of violent behavior among school children.

This research attempted to access a future vision of generalist practice of social work for developing mechanisms to develop women’s awareness of voluntary work. This research came in four sections. The first section included the problem of research, aims, and methodology. The second dealt with the concept of generalist practice of social work, as well as dealing with the theoretical framework of generalist practice and its professional operations. The third section dealt with many concepts such as: voluntary work, awareness, as well as the concept of women’s awareness of voluntary work. It also displays the current conditions and their effects on voluntary work such as: globalization, Arab Spring as a chance to change, and the limited participation of women in voluntary work. Finally the paper concluded by presenting of women’s participation in some fields of voluntary work. The research followed the descriptive methodology, which relies on Documentary Approach, and depended on the content analysis method of some of the previous scientific studies. Finally, the fourth section presented a future vision of generalist practice of social work for developing mechanisms to develop women’s awareness of voluntary work.

This research aims to present the most important contemporary trends in Art Education focusing on the analysis of the relationship between these trends and their related concepts. It also aims to revive some traditions of art education that are based on a scientific approach, with the aim of improving current practices to achieve quality in both art teaching and art production. The aim is also to offer recommendations for developing the teaching of art in accordance with the most recent approaches in the field. The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach to review and analyze these trends. The study shows that there are a number of trends which can be adopted to improve the quality of the input, the process and the output of teaching of art. These include quality assurance standards in art education, cultural diversity in art education, making use of professional artists in schools, creating partnerships with art museums and teacher education colleges and other educational institutions, using new technologies in teaching art, and assessing students’ performance using the “art portfolio” method. Most of these techniques and approaches have proved successful in developed countries. Thus, the researcher recommends that these trends be encouraged in order to improve the curriculum and instruction of Art Education in the Arab countries.

This research studies Egypt in a selected sample of poems of modern Sudanese poetry. The study used the textual method to analyze stylistic and technical aspects of the poems chosen for this study. Sudanese poets have different views of Egypt based on their culture and psychological makeup and literary approach. Some poets had a simple vision despite their elevated diction, artificial rhetoric, and lifeless pathos; others had a more complex vision especially those who saw in Egypt the central state, with its science, history and civilization, and the ability to move the Arabs to wider horizons. The conservative poets relied heavily on stylistics and symbolic language expressions and intensified their structural formulations to meet the public’s tastes for clamor. Some used modern techniques like the narration, storytelling, and the internal monologue to express their visions. It was found that most texts analyzed in this study used the Khalili prosodics with the exception of a few new direction poets who used free verse to express themselves with smooth musicality without barriers as long as their poetry was fueled with profound passion, proper conscience, and a sense of simplicity. The Sudanese poet did not get rid of his old presentation of the image considering it a means for explanation, clarification, and extreme exaggeration. The image, therefore, appeared to be sensual and largely an imitation of ancient types. This, however, does not prevent the emergence of new forms.

This paper explores a stylistic approach to translating literary texts from Arabic into English and vice versa. It is held that in order to be in a position to render literary texts effectively and accurately, one needs to: (1) analyze and describe varieties of language, (2) identify and discern all important aesthetic aspects of text in order to interpret and appreciate texts properly, (3) activate processes and experiences of reading along with one’s intuitive responses to the text, and (4) activate all aspects of knowledge stored in one’s mind on language, text-typological demands, generic conventions, sociological roles of participants in the real world and in text, cultural environment and so on. Through the analysis of authentic data, it argues that by adopting a comprehensive stylistic approach, translators, as special text readers, can easily derive a better understanding and appreciation of texts, in particular literary texts. The data analysis demonstrates that literary translators, in addition to possessing other types of competences, need to develop first an analytical and evaluating competence that enables them to analyze and appreciate stylistic features, and second transferring/translating competence that enables them to prioritize the competing elements with a minimum loss.

This comparative study aims to trace the complexity of the notion of “death” as depicted in three different stories representing two different cultures and two different historical periods. The first one is a story from Persia, dating back to the seventh Century AH (13th Century AD), by the wellknown Iranian writer Sa’di Al-Shirazi. The other two were written by the two Arab writers; Yosuf Idrees and Abdu Salaam Al ‘Ojaily. The presence of “Death” as a theme in these three stories constitutes a distinctive and common feature that cuts across these three stories despite the differences among them in terms of setting, time, details and characters. This, in turn, vividly demonstrates that human beings have a common concern irrespective of differences. This, consequently, proves the prominent role played by comparative literature in enhancing, and cementing common understanding among human beings and, therefore, making it firmly rooted in them. The study also aims to focus on this theme at two levels; the implicit and the explicit. The main objective is to make the reader become fully acquainted with how these two concerted levels lead to a common artistic vision in the three stories in spite of their differences in terms of content and details (i.e. setting, time, character, etc.).

The purposes of this study are to gain insight into Gulf Arab EFL students’ preferences when being assessed in their university-level English courses and to investigate if gender and degree of test anxiety have an impact on these preferences. Data were obtained from responses on an adapted form of Birenbaum’s (1994) Assessment Preferences Inventory. Results show that the students participating in this study favor assessments with multiplechoice (MCQ) questions as they are viewed as being easier to prepare for, easier to take, and thus will bring in relatively higher scores. Results also indicate that students are very much in favor of choosing how they will be assessed and data report a strong preference for multiple measures, and low stakes assessment. Implications for the classroom are also discussed.
