Causes and Effects of Low Reading Tendency among the Students of the University of Science and Technology – Sana'a: A Field Study 萨那科技大学学生低阅读倾向的成因及影响:一项实地研究

This research aimed to identify the causes and effects of low reading tendency among undergraduate students. The researcher followed the analytical descriptive method, and developed a questionnaire which was administered to a sample of (66) students (male and female) from the University of Science and Technology. The study results revealed certain reasons behind low reading tendency. First, most of the books that participants read are general knowledge, religious and specialized books, respectively. Second, the majority of the participants do not buy daily newspapers. Third, parents and university professors sometimes play a role in affecting the students’ tendency to read. The study also revealed some negative effects of such low tendency. The major one is that students become less expressive, and afraid of talking to others and interacting with educated people. The study recommended reducing curriculum burdens on students, providing interesting reading materials to them and buying interesting books, newspapers and learning materials that would develop students’ knowledge and experience.
本研究旨在探讨大学生低阅读倾向的成因及影响。研究人员采用分析描述性的方法,开发了一份问卷,并对来自科技大学的66名学生(男女)进行了调查。研究结果揭示了低阅读倾向背后的某些原因。首先,参与者阅读的书籍分别以常识、宗教和专业书籍居多。第二,大多数参与者不买日报。第三,父母和大学教授有时会影响学生的阅读倾向。该研究还揭示了这种低趋势的一些负面影响。主要的一个是学生变得缺乏表现力,害怕与他人交谈,害怕与受过良好教育的人互动。该研究建议减轻学生的课程负担,为他们提供有趣的阅读材料,购买有趣的书籍、报纸和学习材料,以发展学生的知识和经验。

Use of Social Media in Activating Student Participation at the Faculty of Mass Communication – Sana'a University: A Field Study 在萨那大学大众传播学院使用社会媒体激活学生参与:实地研究

This study focused on how students of the Faculty of Mass Communication use the social media networks, the differences between male and female students and the differences between the study levels in terms of using social media in academic communication and for the arrangement of various activities and events in their academic environment. The study aimed to identify the motives behind the students' use of social media, the academic activities they follow and arrange for, as well as the way they present themselves through these media. The survey method was adopted, using a questionnaire as the data collection tool. The study revealed that facebook was ranked first among the respondents, followed by the WhatsApp application. The students’ motives for using social media varied; the first motive was to communicate with their classmates in the college. The most frequently discussed topic was to know the time and date of classes and exams, followed by issues of interest to the whole batch. The results also revealed partial acceptance of the two hypotheses; there were statistically significant differences between the use of social media networks and the variable of study level. In the second hypothesis, there were also statistically significant differences between the use of social media networks and the gender variable.

Impact of Banking Service Quality on the Mental Image of Customers: A Field Study at the Islamic Banks in Yemen Republic 银行服务质量对客户心理形象的影响:也门共和国伊斯兰银行的实地研究

This study aimed at investigating the impact of banking services quality on the mental image of customers at the Islamic banks and measuring its dimensional levels. The population of the study included  a number of Islamic banks’ customers in the Republic of Yemen. The descriptive analytical method was used and a questionnaire was developed as an instrument for data collection. A number of 380 questionnaires were distributed to the sample of the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS. The findings of the study revealed that the level of banking services quality in the Islamic banks was generally high and the level of its dimensions i.e. tangible, communication and credibility was also high, while the level of the other dimensions i.e. response, empathy and reliability was average. The study also found that the level of customers’ mental image of the Islamic banks was generally average, and the level of its dimensions i.e. cognitive dimension was high, while the level of the emotional and behavioral dimensions was average. The study concludes that the Islamic banks should  promote and improve the quality of banking services in all their different dimensions through a specific plan and mechanism to improve the mental image of bank customers.
本研究旨在调查银行服务质量对伊斯兰银行客户心理形象的影响,并测量其维度水平。研究对象包括也门共和国一些伊斯兰银行的客户。采用了描述性分析方法,并编制了问卷作为数据收集的工具。本研究的样本共收到380份问卷。数据采用SPSS统计软件进行分析。研究结果显示,伊斯兰银行的银行服务质量水平普遍较高,其维度,即有形,沟通和可信度的水平也很高,而其他维度,即反应,同理心和可靠性的水平一般。研究还发现,客户对伊斯兰银行的心理形象总体上处于中等水平,其认知维度水平较高,而情感和行为维度水平一般。研究得出结论,伊斯兰银行应通过具体的计划和机制,在各方面促进和提高银行服务质量,以改善银行客户的心理形象。

Impact of Quality of Work Life on Improving Work Engagement at the Yemeni Public Telecommunications Corporation 工作生活质量对提高也门公共电信公司工作参与度的影响

This study examined the effect of the quality of work life on improving work engagement in the Yemeni Public Telecommunications Corporation. In order to achieve this objective, a sample of 330 employees was selected from the headquarters of the Yemeni Public Telecommunications Corporation, located in Sana'a, the capital city of Yemen. The study used a survey to collect preliminary data required for the study. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to check the validity of the measures used in the study. The EFA analysis revealed that the number of dimensions of quality of work conditions decreased from six dimensions to five dimensions due to the combination of the dimensions of participation in decision-making and the president's style of supervision under one dimension, called the president's style of supervision. The EFA analysis also decreased the dimensions of work engagement from three dimensions to two dimensions by combining the dimensions of vitality and enthusiasm at work and dedication to work under one dimension, called enthusiasm and sincerity work. The results also revealed that the practice of dimensions of quality of work life has a significant relationship with the improvement of work engagement in the Yemeni Public Telecommunications Corporation.

Measurement of Unused Capacity by Applying Resource Consumption Accounting Approach to Improve the Cost Information Quality: An Empirical Study 运用资源消耗会计方法衡量闲置产能提高成本信息质量的实证研究

The aim of this research was to enhance the efficiency of the resource consumption accounting approach by clarifying the analysis and measurement of the unused capacity to improve the quality of cost information for multiple administrative purposes. To achieve that, an empirical study was conducted at Al-Barh Cement Factory, affiliated to Yemen Corporation for Cement Industry and Marketing. Applying resource consumption accounting approach in this factory helped detect unused capacity in the production support centers of the factory under study with a percentage of 43.2% of the total costs measured according to the factory costs system. The costs were analyzed and measured at the level of resource pools and activities pools. The research concludes that the resource consumption accounting approach improves the quality of cost information to manage resources and costs by achieving greater accurate cost allocation and greater amount of planning resources and optimal utilization of unused capacity in firms.

Present Situation of Commitment to Internal and External Social Responsibility of Companies and its Impact on Organizational Performance: A Field Study in the Telecommunication Companies – Yemen 企业内外部社会责任承诺现状及其对组织绩效的影响:也门电信企业的实地研究

The study aimed to explore the present situation of the commitment to internal and external social responsibility of companies and its impact on organizational performance at the telecommunication companies in the Republic of Yemen. To achieve the objective of the study, the research used a descriptive and analytical method, using a questionnaire for data collection. The results revealed that there was a significant effect of internal social responsibility on the organizational performance of telecommunication companies in the Republic of Yemen at the level of less than (0.05). The source of the positive impact of internal social responsibility was mainly on the ethical, economic, legal and human dimensions. As for the external social responsibility, the impact was mainly on the ethical, legal, human, and economic dimensions.It was found that the highest level of commitment of external social responsibility was mainly in the legal, moral and economic dimensions, respectively, whereas the human dimension received a medium score. As for the internal social responsibility, the commitment was mainly in the legal, economic and moral dimensions, respectively, whereas the human dimension received a medium score. Aslo, the level of organizational performance in telecommunication companies in the Republic of Yemen was medium.

A Jurisprudence Study of the Purposes (Maqasid) of Sharia for Preserving Social Relations by the Quranic Verse of Acquaintance 《古兰经》中关于相识的经文对伊斯兰教法维护社会关系目的的法理学研究

The claim of some Muslim communities for racial selection and racial discrimination, knowingly or unknowingly, and their ignorance of the goals of equality and the preservation of human dignity has caused the emergence of some social diseases that plagued the Islamic communities. This also has led to the spread of division, selfishness and hatred. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate equality and the preservation of human dignity in the Quranic verse of acquaintance to show how Allah Almighty stressed these two purposes (Maqasid), their importance and the need to comply with them, in order to ensure equality and justice, and to achieve the rest of other purposes related to the preservation of the five necessities. The researcher used the inductive, descriptive and analytical approach. The research concludes that the origin of mankind is Adam and Eve (Peace Be Upon Them) and that the application of the purposes of equality and the preservation of human dignity is a guarantee for brotherhood and other purposes. This is the only way to eliminate the social diseases that resulted from ignorance of these two purposes. The non-application of these two purposes will make the Muslim nation lose great benefits, and will cause many evils.

This also has led to the spread of division, selfishness and hatred. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate equality and the preservation of human dignity in the Quranic verse of acquaintance to show how Allah Almighty stressed these two purposes (Maqasid), their importance and the need to comply with them, in order to ensure equality and justice, and to achieve the rest of other purposes related to the preservation of the five necessities. The researcher used the inductive, descriptive and analytical approach. The research concludes that the origin of mankind is Adam and Eve (Peace Be Upon Them) and that the application of the purposes of equality and the preservation of human dignity is a guarantee for brotherhood and other purposes. This is the only way to eliminate the social diseases that resulted from ignorance of these two purposes. Happiness Function in an Islamic Economy: Triple Economic Growth, Fair Distribution and Human Happiness 伊斯兰经济中的幸福功能:三重经济增长、公平分配和人类幸福

This study investigated the characteristics of happiness function in an Islamic economy framework. It analyzed the nature and trend of the link between economic growth, equal distribution and level of human happiness. These interrelated concepts form the essence of this study problem. The study assumed four main possible tracks for the happiness function in an Islamic economy, which ultimately emphasized the wider concept of happiness that includes faith and moral values. It indicates that people’s happiness increases with the increase of material and non material resources. However, happiness increases even if material resources decline. That is a case which reflects impact of faith and moral values on people’s happiness. The study indicated the importance of conducting empirical and field studies to examine the effect of material and non- material potentials on happiness. The Relationship between the Characteristics of the Board of Directors and Performance of Companies with Reference to Yemeni Banks 董事会特征与公司绩效的关系——以也门银行为例

The study investigated the relationship between the board of directors’ characteristics and performance in the Yemeni banks. It aimed to identify and measure the variables of the board of directors’ characteristics, and then develop a model to measure such relationships. To achieve the study objectives, panel data of 10 Yemeni banks for the years 2000-2013 were used. The study also developed 13 independent variables related to characteristics of the board of directors and two dependent variables pertinent to finance. The study used multiple regression models to test this relationship. The econometric program (EVIEWS) was also used. The study results showed that there were positive relationships between the number of meetings, the dual role of CEOs, CEO and board members’ salaries and remuneration and their percentage of ownership, on the one hand, and between the ROE and ROA on the other. In addition, the results revealed a negative relationship between the board size, number of executive members, qualifications of the CEO, and the ROE and ROA. However, there were conflicting results of the relationships between the number of audit committee members and the ROE and ROA. Therefore, it was recommended that banks form effective structure of boards of directors with good characteristics that could have positive effect on performance. It was also recommended that the Central Bank of Yemen encourage banks to provide regular data on the BOD for researchers, and enhance the participation of women in the boards. Legal Framework of Franchise Agreement Compared to the Legislation Status in Yemen 特许经营协议法律框架与也门立法现状比较

Franchise is a modern style created as a need for trade to increase projects size. It differs from the authorization to use the trademark because the latter only requires licensing of the licensee's trademark, unlike the Franchise contract, in which it goes beyond the need to convey technical knowledge from Franchisor to Franchisee. In Yemen, Franchise has not received any private legal legislation till the moment, necessitating applying contract articles, contracts general principles and some provisions embodied in the texts of other laws that are suitable to be applied to some of its issues and provisions, in addition to what is inspired by provisions in foreign laws. This study aimed to distinguish franchise agreement from similar contracts that have become common in the commercial field; to identify important legal and practical problems facing franchise agreement as well as suggest solutions to address such problems; and to propose regulatory principles that can be used by the Yemeni legislator in the future when enacting laws that govern franchise agreement. To achieve these objectives, the study followed a descriptive analytical method. The study concludes that the franchise agreement has not received any special legal legislation in Yemen so far; and also the franchise agreement is characterized by a complex nature and has special features.
