Linking to the theme of modernization in university governance, shows the analysis of the implementation of the management and process mapping at the Directorate of Personnel Management (DAP) in a Federal University in northeastern Brazil who joined the National Public Management Program and bureaucratization (GesPublica) in 2009. It was adopted as a general objective to analyze the management and process mapping of said DAP, identifying the possible benefits in improving the quality of the services provided to users. As a method, we carried out a qualitative research, the case study type, whose unit of analysis was the DAP. Data collection consisted of desk research, questionnaires and interviews. Results show that the methods used to manage and process mapping in DAP were built and developed according to the needs of the University having GesPublica as a guide and tool for the development of the project which resulted in agility of procedures, reducing the time spent and improved interpersonal communication, so it is suggested method other public institutions.

Impulsionadas pelo programa brasileiro de Reestruturacao e Expansao das Universidades Federais (REUNI), as universidades federais brasileiras tem apresentado franca expansao. Com isso, em algumas unidades, os servidores realizam suas atividades em um ambiente de trabalho com instalacoes fisicas inacabadas e em construcao. Considerando que o conforto fisico e uma das dimensoes do clima organizacional, este artigo tem como objetivo abordar a forma como o ambiente fisico influencia a formacao da construcao do clima organizacional. Para tanto, utilizou-se uma abordagem qualitativa por meio do metodo exploratorio. Os dados foram coletados a partir dos registros de discussoes em grupo pela observacao participante. Do ponto de vista da ergonomia, os funcionarios desta instituicao sao muito afetados em funcao do predio estar em construcao. Os problemas apontados foram: ruidos altos, problemas de higiene e limpeza, inseguranca e tremores na estrutura fisica. Verificou-se que os trabalhadores demonstram inseguranca e preocupacao com essas situacoes em seu ambiente de trabalho que, consequentemente, afetam a dimensao conforto fisico referente ao clima organizacional. Contudo, observou-se que, mesmo diante das dificuldades avaliadas, os servidores acabam por nao deixar de desempenhar suas funcoes.

Distance education in Brazil gains prominence from the 2000s, with the Open University of Brazil and with its insertion on the National Educational Plan 2001-2010, that intended to provide the superior education to 30% of the Brazilian population from 18 to 24 years old. Aiming to reflect over this reality, the study discussed the evolution of distance education in Brazil, using the institutional theory lenses, questioning how this process of institutionalization has been going on through the last decades. To answer this questioning, this manuscript was developed in two steps: the first one presents the history of distance education in Brazil and the second one shows its main signs of institutionalization. The methodological procedures involved the content analysis of two deep interviews and an extensive document analysis. As results, this manuscript points out that the process of institutionalization of distance education in Brazil is dynamic and permanent, and that institutional theory lenses are relevant to describe transformations that occurs in strategic areas such as distance education. The study also presents future work.

Considering the complexity of University Management in the State and National levels, it is highlighted the importance of a well-designed and achievable Strategic Planning, whose actions allow the managers to act in accordance with the requirements that are presented on a daily basis. The article aims to analyze how the process of strategic management occurs in Citizenship Institutions of the ACAFE System. The specific objectives were divided in four stages, the first one approaches the Strategy, with the objective to analyze the process of organizational strategy, the second is related to the Strategic Thinking in order to identify if it has indicators of the existence of strategic thinking, together with the managers, the third stage will highlight the Strategic Planning, identifying if it is present and how it is elaborated and the fourth step, considering the previous steps, takes into consideration the actions arising from the possible existence of the previous requirements, as well as, gives the formulation and implementation of actions and how the monitoring and strategies control are carried out. It is understood that the topic addressed is of great relevance, since the Citizenship Institutions of Education, have generic and specific characteristics as well, which ends up in most cases making the strategic process very complex, difficult and not very effective. Increasingly, Higher Education Institutions need to formulate their strategies, adapting them to meet the latent demand, developing a process of competitive intelligence, allowing to deal more effectively with the competition, highlighting the competitive differential and value attributes perceived by the community where it is inserted. It is important to seek differentiation, the prominence, the necessary projection in the present times, so that they can survive and grow. Exploratory, descriptive and qualitative research was used for the present study. This research analyzed how the strategic management process is developed in the Citizenship Universities, allowing to infer and to identify where and how they are and to where they want go and they are able to proceed.

A presente pesquisa teve como proposito analisar a relacao entre absenteismo e desempenho academico no Curso de Ciencias Contabeis. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa documental em uma Instituicao Publica brasileira. Com a permissao da coordenacao do curso, foram analisadas diversas informacoes relativas a participacao de 1.525 estudantes em 715 disciplinas ministradas no periodo compreendido entre o primeiro semestre de 2009 e o segundo semestre de 2013, totalizando 29.839 observacoes. A partir dessas observacoes, foram analisadas as seguintes variaveis: desempenho academico, tamanho da turma, periodo, turno, carga horaria e inassiduidade (medida de absenteismo). Os resultados indicaram que todas as variaveis investigadas estao significativamente correlacionadas ao desempenho academico dos estudantes. No entanto, a variavel que apresentou a correlacao mais forte foi absenteismo. Esses resultados sugerem que a primeira consequencia do absenteismo e a queda no desempenho academico, como ja havia sido identificado anteriormente por outros pesquisadores. Tambem foi identificado que o absenteismo esta significativamente correlacionado com todas as variaveis acima mencionadas. Assim, alunos que estao em salas mais cheias, do turno diurno, dos periodos finais e matriculados em disciplinas com cargas-horarias maiores tendem a apresentar maiores niveis de absenteismo. Alem disso, constatou-se que, 32,9% dos alunos evadidos no periodo pesquisado haviam tido reprovacoes por falta entre 2009 e 2013, evidenciado assim, a segunda consequencia grave do absenteismo, a evasao.

O marketing interno compreende o conjunto de estrategias para viabilizar no âmbito interno o cumprimento das promessas de marketing da organizacao. Este estudo analisa a utilizacao de estrategias de marketing interno em uma instituicao de educacao superior no processo de implantacao de novo modelo educacional. Trata-se de estudo de caso unico com abordagem qualitativa e exploratoria. As tecnicas de coleta de dados utilizadas foram entrevistas em profundidade e levantamento documental, interpretados por meio da analise de conteudo. Os resultados revelam que as estrategias mais utilizadas sao: execucao de programas de capacitacao de funcionarios; desenvolvimento de materiais/apostilas de orientacao; criacao de blog na web; e a aplicacao de pesquisa interna. Os depoimentos indicam que as estrategias de marketing interno contribuiram para a implantacao de novo modelo educacional, mas ha insatisfacao dos gestores com o programa de marketing interno da instituicao.

The present study aims to understand the behavior of young people when choosing a university for their undergraduate studies.This process is understood here, as a consumer relationship, more specifically as an extension process of one´s identity.The study, proposes to explore the competing factors involved in the youngsters´choice and involves such topics like organizational image and reputation. It also takes into account the influence of university rankings, consumer behavior and the theory of self-extension interpreted as possession. An empirical study has been conducted involving young people, and a qualitative methodological approach has been applied to interviews.In the following stage, data have been categorized and organized according to content analysis.The results point at the fact that young people choose a university just like an act of consumption and as an extension of their own identity.

The MBA is one of the most popular programs in management education today. Research conducted by accreditors organizations and specialized and internationally recognized journals regularly publish rankings of courses and schools to evaluate objective aspects related to MBA, including: salary increases, promotions, career and employability. The MBA also has been criticized, especially the lack of aligning of its curriculum to the needs of the business world and the real contribution to the development of managers able to deal with the challenges and the complexity of the contemporary business environment. In an effort to increase the understanding of the MBA, this article aims to describe, analyze and synthesize what students think about the MBA, highlighting how they evaluate the course, their learning and the impact on their careers. Empirically, we carried out a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews with 13 students of MBA with specialization of an institution of higher education in the city of Sao Paulo. The results indicate positive reviews about the course and the learning and the MBA alone does not guarantee rise of career and employability.

Research conducted by accreditors organizations and specialized and internationally recognized journals regularly publish rankings of courses and schools to evaluate objective aspects related to MBA, including: salary increases, promotions, career and employability. The MBA also has been criticized, especially the lack of aligning of its curriculum to the needs of the business world and the real contribution to the development of managers able to deal with the challenges and the complexity of the contemporary business environment. In an effort to increase the understanding of the MBA, this article aims to describe, analyze and synthesize what students think about the MBA, highlighting how they evaluate the course, their learning and the impact on their careers. Empirically, we carried out a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews with 13 students of MBA with specialization of an institution of higher education in the city of Sao Paulo. This paper addresses the issue of solidarity economy and incubators of this kind, which plays an important role for developing solidarity economy enterprises (ESS) offering advice, so that these groups can become self-managed. The objective of this paper is to analyze different methods of incubation at public universities, through the axles of accompaniments, which are: legalization, economic viability, and human training and development. It was performed one multi-case study where four incubators EES, from different localities were analyzed. The characteristics of these incubators are discussed, detailing their methodologies, as well as the barriers and challenges faced in the incubation process. Was noted that they face difficulties independent of their maturation stage. It is concluded that it is important to hone tools and methodologies of incubation, so it can best treat incubated groups and to bring new solutions, through a collective and solidarity work.

As universidades enquanto geradoras e difusoras de conhecimento sao agentes de inovacao quando interagem com o meio. O papel da universidade no amparo a inovacao depende tambem do contexto regional, isto significa que nem todas as universidades precisam adotar o mesmo comportamento em termos de politica de suporte a inovacao. Nesse sentido e necessario estudar mais a fundo a articulacao entre a universidade e a sociedade para promover a compreensao mais profunda sobre o papel de cada uma nessa relacao para a producao de inovacao. Com vistas a conhecer melhor a area e verificar se esta percepcao procede foi realizada uma revisao sistematica da literatura e pesquisa documental. Assim, este artigo visa aprofundar essa analise atraves da realizacao de uma revisao sistematica que foi executada a partir das sete etapas basicas propostas por JACKSON et al (2004). Com base nessa discussao, sao levantados documentos que relatam o funcionamento do Sistema Nacional de Inovacao Brasileiro e, a partir da interface entre os resultados da revisao sistematica e da analise documental, foi desenhado o papel da universidade nesse sistema. Tambem foram identificados fatores catalisadores da inovacao que apontam para resultados da pesquisa academica que impactam no desenvolvimento economico. Sugere-se que este trabalho seja seguido de pesquisa empirica que possa demonstrar resultados praticos do papel das universidades na inovacao.
