This study presents the Hungarian Society of Biomechanics and the work of Márta Kurutzné Kovács, who was the pioneer of spinal FE modelling in Hungary. She arranged the first Hungarian systematic literature review in this topic, which is still a valuable source for biomedical research engineers and clinicians. In addition, FE models from the literature are introduced as well. The presented FE models help evaluate the biomechanical consequences of certain spinal surgeries and support the surgical planning based on the numerical results. The final chapter introduces the

This article argues that the development of social science’s impact on policy-making has oddly overlooked history. In recent years, however, history has been broadening its position as a “policy science.” While historians may not have access to some of the methodological tools used by other social sciences, they have the analytical tools that allow them to interpret the ‘past’ in a rigorous and relevant way. As a result, ‘learning from history’ may be done without being reductionist or prescriptive. To illustrate the basic concept, specific cases from the writers’ fields of expertise -history of health policy and public health, history of alcohol policy, and history of childhood- are used.

In this study, we concern about the problem of how and why the mobility of the prostitution matrix has changed in Hungary. Prostitution is based on coexisting networks. The prostitution industry followed exactly all economic changes of the industrial revolution since the 19th century as the population explosion in the suddenly developing new metropolitan centres, mass pauperization, rapid growth of the entertainment industry, the popularized display of erotica and sex industry through various channels of communication, finally the transformation of the internal structure of the prostitution industry. This industry is market-oriented, reacts very sensitively to needs, as well as to induction that requires to offer always some novelty to users/clients. Managing this supply market needs permanent attention and strict control of the maintainers. Obviously, clients must be served with absolute comfort since their sexual needs have established and are operating the entire system of prostitution facilities. However, the management is seeking always new options. Clients are instigated to have as extreme sexual experience as possible. Thus their interest in the diversity of multiple sexual trends is kept alive even artificially upgraded and maintained vivid by the sex business which is providing versatile new sexual experiences. It also works in a wholesale business in line with artificially designed body imaging and sex fashion methods. At the
