The article provides information about green microalga Chloroidium saccharophilum (Trebouxiophyceae) whose history of study dates back to more than 100 years. The issues of its intraspecific variability are considered. We also studied the strain of C. saccharophilum IRK–A 230 isolated from a small puddle on the southeastern shore of Lake Baikal (Republic of Buryatia, Russia). Light and electron microscopy and molecular phylogeny methods establish the species identity of the strain. The alga has an ellipsoidal cell shape, parietal chloroplast and visible pyrenoid with starch sheath; reproduction by equal and unequal autospores in even and odd numbers; the ability to form spherical cells; and accumulated yellow pigments in old non-heterotrophic cultures. The data obtained by us complement the species characteristics, and its biology and geography. The amended description of C. saccharophilum is provided.

Characters of rimoportulae are important in the taxonomy of the genus Aulacoseira, but data on the variability of these structures are scarce. We study the rimoportulae number, position and morphology in the centric diatom Aulacoseira granulata from a population оf the Nizhny Tagil Reservoir (Sverdlovsk Region, Russia). A significant variation in the number of rimoportulae on the half of the valve mantle (1–3) and their location (along the entire surface of the valve mantle) is found. Two different types of the rimoportulae on the inner surface of valves within the same species of Aulacoseira are shown. Most often each rimoportula looks like a long spiral tube, less often such tube is short and straight. Externally, each rimoportula opening resembles a funnel-shaped hole which is often accompanied by an oval hole of an unclear function.

Specimens of Paxillus cuprinus, a species recently described from P. involutus complex and characterized by less massive, dully coloured basidiomes with more slender stipes, as well as longer basidiospores, were collected by authors during an expedition to the Southern Urals (Republic of Bashkortostan). The studied collection represents the first record of the species in Russia based on basidiomes. The identity of the studied collection was confirmed by molecular data (nrITS and tef1 sequence analyses) and morphology. A full description, illustration of specimens, and results of phylogenetic analyses are provided.

This electron microscopy study of new for the Volgograd Region (Russia) Anomoeoneis sphaerophora f. sculpta, Gyrosigma wansbeckii, and Pleurosigma elongatum from mineralized tributaries (Bolshaya Samoroda, Lantsug and Khara) of the hyperhaline Lake Elton provides new data on the variability of quantitative diagnostic characteristics (valve length, number of striae and areolae in 10 μm) and some morphological elements (raphe and areolae). For Anomoeoneis sphaerophora f. sculpta, false areolae were found on the external valve surface, it was shown for the first time that the raphe ends are bent towards the primary side of the valve as well. For Gyrosigma wansbeckii, data on the areolae number in 10 μm are presented for the first time. The range of length and width of Pleurosigma elongatum valves, as well as the number of striae and areolae in 10 μm, has been expanded.

A brief review of the main publications containing information on the terminology of diatom valve shapes is given. This communication presents the results of our supplemented generalization and clarification of terms for radial valves and valves, that are symmetrical to the apical axis, which are used to describe the morphology of diatoms. As in the diatom morphological descriptions, the shape of their apices (which can be different) is also described, we present information about the valve apices too.

The paper provides the first data on diversity of basidiomycetes of the Koygorodskiy National Park. The park was created in 2019 in the south-west of the Komi Republic (Koigorodsky and Priluzsky districts) with the aim of preserving intact forest massif developing in a natural dynamic mode. 267 species and intraspecific taxa of fungi have been identified on the territory of the reserve. Eighteen species of fungi were recorded for the first time for the Komi Republic: Chromosera cyanophylla, Clavulinopsis fusiformis, C. laeticolor, Crepidotus crocophyllus, C. subverrucisporus, Hygrophoropsis rufa, Hymenochaete cinnamomea, Lactarius aspideus, L. camphoratus, Lyomyces pruni, Macrocystidia cucumis, Odonticium septocystidia, Pluteus chrysophlebius, Protostropharia alcis, Psathyrella pygmaea, Rhodophana nitellina, Tomentella crinalis, Tricholoma frondosae. On the territory of the reserve, the locations of seven species listed in the Red Book of the Komi Republic were identified: Leucocortinarius bulbiger, Multiclavula mucida, Onnia tomentosa, Phlebia coccineofulva, Pluteus umbrosus, Rigidoporus crocatus, Thelephora palmata.

Amanita beckeri was described six decades ago, but still remains among the less known and least featured in the mycological literature species of the genus in Europe. The authors present concise description and illustrations of a collection of the species from the Balkan Peninsula, which identity is supported by analysis of rITS sequences. Comparison with similar brownish-colored ringless amanitas is presented and an account of the current knowledge about its distribution is included.
