In this paper we provide a short review of radial basis function (RBF) and its properties. In addition RBF NN was used to estimate the non-Isothermal CSTR. For achieving this goal because of on lining data it was necessary to use the RLS each time that new data come to system. By using this method (RLS), RBF NN updates its weights for mapping the input and output of the system.

The solubility of CO2 in various solvents in the binary systems at high pressures is an important key for production of micro and nanoparticles production. This paper compares three different equations of state of Peng-Robinson (PR), Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) and Statistical Associating Fluid Theory (SAFT) for correlating of CO2 solubility in the 20 different binary systems at high pressures applicable to micro and nanoparticles production. The effects of the temperature and pressure of binary systems on the solubility of CO2 in organic solvents have also been investigated. It is observed that the solubility of CO2 in solvents increases with the increase in the pressure at the same temperature. At higher pressures the liquid phase is mostly CO2 and these conditions are interested in supercritical fluid processes.

The field of medical imaging gains its importance with increase in the need of automated and efficient diagnosis in a short period of time. Other than that, medical image retrieval system is to provide a tool for radiologists to retrieve the images similar to query image in content. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging technique that has played an important role in neuroscience research for studying brain images. Classification is an important part in retrieval system in order to distinguish between normal patients and those who have the possibility of having abnormalities or tumor. In this paper, we have obtained the feature related to MRI images using discrete wavelet transformation. An advanced kernel based techniques such as Support Vector Machine (SVM) for the classification of volume of MRI data as normal and abnormal will be deployed.

This work presents a practical approach to the control of tool's position, in orthogonal cutting, in the presence nonlinear dynamic cutting forces and machine tool dynamics. The controller is Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) type constructed from an augmented model of machine tool realization, tool-actuator dynamics, and a nonlinear dynamic model relating tool displacement to cutting forces. The latter model is obtained using black-box system identification of experimental orthogonal cutting data in which tool displacement is the input and cutting force is the output. The controller is evaluated and its performance is demonstrated.

Power system stabilizers (PSSs) are the most well known and efficient devices to damp the power system oscillations caused by interruptions. Low frequency oscillation problems are very difficult to solve because power systems are very large, complex and geographically distributed. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize most efficient optimization methods to take full advantages in simplifying the problem and its implementation. From this perspective, many successful and powerful optimization methods and algorithms have been employed in formulating and solving this problem. These optimization methodologies and techniques are widely diverse and have been the subject of ongoing enhancements over the years. This paper presents a survey of literature on the various optimization methods applied to solve the PSS problems. A review of most of the publications on the topic is presented.

Solids oil palm biomass in the form of empty fruit bunches (EFB), palm press fibre (PPF), palm kernel shell (PKS), palm trunks and fronds has been identified as one of the main source of renewable energy with great potential in Malaysia. Recent development in the industry requires proper treatment of the palm biomass so that it generates clean energy. One of the treatment of palm biomass is size reduction since this will remove excess moisture and oil. It is vital to establish the correlations between size of palm biomass on moisture and the calorific values. By modeling and simulation, optimised blends of palm biomass consisting of EFB, PPF and PKS can be mixed to give the maximum power output. The physical and calorific properties of palm biomass were established through experimental work as well as plant data collected in this study. The simulated palm biomass blends through this study was validated with plant data from previous studies. Size reduction reduced moisture content significantly in the oil palm biomass namely EFB from 52 to 40 %. With size reduction, the calorific values of blends can increase by 34% and further improve the Net Energy Availability Value. The study suggests that an optimised blend from the oil palm biomass would further improve the calorific value. Through improved processing technology, the palm oil industry will continue to strive for sustainability development addressing both social and economic aspect simultaneously.

This paper presents a 0.5 V pseudo fully differential CMOS op-amp with rail-to-rail input/output swing. The circuit is designed based on class AB input and output stages. In the design, quasi FGMOS transistors are employed. The proposed amplifier is designed using 0.18 μm CMOS technology, and the simulation results show rail-to-rail input and output swings. The open-loop gain and gain-bandwidth product show 73.3 dB and 12.6 MHz. The CMRR is 73.2 dB (at 1 kHz) and the power consumption is 27.9 μW.

Retrofit and optimization of low-temperature gas separation processes is a challenging task owing to complicated interactions between the core process (separation columns), refrigeration cycles, and the associated heat exchanger network. In this paper, the performance of cold section of an olefin plant is optimized. A comprehensive screening of all effective changes using genetic algorithm suggests some retrofit modifications. Having incorporated the best operating column parameters along with available refrigeration levels, a 11.3% improvement in utility cost was achieved.

We solve the problem by utilizing the stochastic programming recourse approach. Parameter identification is critical for modern control strategies in electrical power systems which is considered both dynamic performance and energy efficiency. This paper presents a novel application of ANN observers in estimating and tracking Salient-Pole Synchronous Generator Dynamic Parameters using time-domain, on-line disturbance measurements. The data for training ANN Observers are obtained through off-line simulations of a salient-pole synchronous generator operating in a one-machine-infinite-bus environment. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm has been adopted and assimilated into the back-propagation learning algorithm for training feed-forward neural networks. The inputs of ANNs are organized in conformity with the results of the observability analysis of synchronous generator dynamic parameters in its dynamic behavior. A collection of ANNs with same inputs but different outputs are developed to determine a set of the dynamic parameters. The ANNs are employed to estimate the dynamic parameters by the measurements which are carried out within each kind of fault separately. The trained ANNs are tested with on-line measurements to identify the dynamic parameters. Simulation studies indicate the ANN observer has a great ability to identify the dynamic parameters of salient-pole synchronous generator. The results also show that the tests which have given better results in estimation of each dynamic parameter can be obtained.
