An in-Depth Review of Dercum’s disease: Aetiology, Epidemiology, and Treatment 深入回顾德库姆氏病:病因学、流行病学和治疗

The purpose of the present review is to proffer a comprehensive overview of Dercum's disease (DD), a rare medical condition typified by the presence of excruciating subcutaneous adipose tissue deposits. The ambit of this exposition encompasses the delineation of the clinical features, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options for DD. DD is a complex and poorly understood ailment, thereby rendering its diagnosis a daunting task, primarily on account of the indeterminate character of its symptoms. Nonetheless, the timely identification of DD is crucial to stave off its advancement and ameliorate the standard of living of those afflicted by it. Diagnostic criteria have been posited for DD, and diagnostic imaging modalities, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have proven efficacious in facilitating the diagnosis of this malady. The treatment of DD is primarily palliative, geared toward assuaging pain and enhancing the overall quality of life. Therapeutic options comprise the administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids, local anesthetics, weight management strategies, and alterations to lifestyle choices.

Mikulicz Disease in Males: A Comprehensive Review 男性 Mikulicz 病:全面回顾

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an intricate autoimmune disorder that have an effect on multiple organs in the body, including the lachrymal and salivary glands, liver, biliary duct, thyroid, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, kidney, aorta, prostate and retroperitoneum. Mikulicz disease, a subtype of IgG4-RD, specifically targets the lachrymal and salivary glands, leading to glandular swelling, xerostomia, and xerophthalmia. Diagnosis of Mikulicz disease is established on the presence of proportional and persistent inflammation of at least two pairs of lachrymal, submandibular, and parotid glands, along with exalted serum IgG4 levels and/or marked penetration of IgG4-positive plasmacytes into the affected glandular tissues. Treatment with glucocorticoids has shown to be beneficial in managing IgG4-related MD, but the efficacy of combination therapy in preventing relapse is still a topic of debate. The underlying causes of the disease can vary, but lymphoepithelial sialadenitis is the widespread cause. The disease typically presents in individuals with an average age ranging from 55 to 65 years, and the incidence among individuals under the age of 20 is exceedingly rare. Mikulicz disease is an enigmatic ailment that is still being researched. However, identifying its hallmark symptoms and distinguishing it from other similar conditions is essential for effective diagnosis and treatment. Further research is essential to better comprehend the fundamental causes of the disease and to promote more effective treatment options for patients with Mikulicz disease and other subtypes of IgG4-RD.

The transdermal drug delivery system provides an attractive alternative to traditional methods like oral administration and injections for delivering drugs. However, the stratum corneum acts as a barrier that limits the penetration of substances through the skin. Recently, researchers have suggested and demonstrated that incorporating nanoemulsion into a transdermal patch can significantly enhance skin permeability and improve transdermal delivery. Studies have shown that nanoemulsion is a more effective drug delivery system compared to other incorporated transdermal methods. The effectiveness of the nanoemulsion is influenced by the choice and properties of the surfactant and co-surfactant used. Therefore, this review article examines the ability of nanoemulsion incorporated in transdermal patch for drug delivery system.

Fluoroquinolones for the Treatment of Tuberculosis: An Overview 治疗结核病的氟喹诺酮类药物:概述

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Tuberculosis is a major global health threat. In 2022, an estimated 10 million people worldwide developed TB disease, and there were about 1.5 million TB-related deaths. TB primarily affects low- and middle-income countries, with the highest burden in Africa, Asia, and the Western Pacific regions. The WHO has launched the "End TB Strategy" with the aim of eliminating TB as a public health problem by 2035. Early diagnosis and prompt initiation of treatment are essential for effective TB control. WHO recommends a package of interventions known as "Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course" (DOTS) for TB control, which includes standardized diagnostic approaches, access to quality-assured drugs, and supportive treatment adherence measures. Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global health burden, necessitating the development of new therapeutic strategies. Fluoroquinolones (FQs) have emerged as promising agents in the treatment of TB due to their potent antimicrobial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and their ability to penetrate intracellular compartments. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge on the use of FQs as antitubercular agents, highlighting their mechanisms of action, efficacy and limitations.

There is an increasing awareness and general acceptability of indigenous drugs in today’s medical practice and over 80% of the world population depends on herbal drugs and products for healthy living due to their no side effects. Unani formulations are based on herbal, mineral, and animal origin and have been practiced in India for hundreds of years for treating various ailments by its holistic approach with natural means and drugs. Research is a creative work using existing knowledge for further development and advancement of knowledge and the approach, methodology and technique of research should be consistent with the ultimate objective because the scientific method of research is a combination of hypothesis, experimentation, observation, and reasoning. Therefore, the criteria of real scientific research are that its result should be reproducible under similar conditions. The paper deals with the objective of standardization and makes experimentation, and observation and particularly to check out Physico-chemical data of two in-house prepared samples of compound Unani formulation ArqAswadBaridunderSOP guidelines by adopting two different methods(classical and modern) of fermentation process separately and the content so obtained after distillation from fermented materials were utilized further to prepare two separate samples of the finished products i.e. Arq-e-Aswad Barid and underwent for the comparative assessment by following some Physico-chemical and quality control parameters like viscosity, specific gravity, refractive index, weight per ml, detection of aflatoxin, microbial load, pesticide residue, etc. of both the samples to achieve the objective of study. Besides, the preliminary physicochemical study of all ingredients used as raw material in the preparation of Arq-e-Aswad Barid was also conducted.

A Systematic Review on Anticancer Phytosomal Flavonoids 抗癌植物黄酮类化合物系统综述

Now a days phytochemicals present in medicinal plant have great therapeutic optionin many diseases. Consequently, plant research has become more important globally. Large number of crude drugs are available but they are constrained by their inadequate bioavailability and low absorption upon administration by oral route. The bioavailability of a medicine can be enhanced by developing a drug delivery system that can quicken and expand drug absorption through lipid membranes. This review includes the information related to phytosomes introductions, as well as its method of preparation. The second part of this provide overview of different flavonoids which have anticancer activity.

Overview on Emulgel and their marketed Formulations Emulgel 及其上市配方概述

Background: Emulgel is a topical preparation prepared by the mixture of an emulsion and a gel. Emulgel is considered as one of the most important topical delivery systems because it consists of two release control systems, i.e., a gel and an emulsion. The primary intention of this new topical delivery system is to deliver hydrophobic drugs into systemic circulation through the skin. By applying a suitable statistical design, different grades of emulgel can be prepared. There are various favorable properties. Therefore, emulgel is considered as the most conventional system available in the market over other topical drug delivery systems. Objectives: In the present work an attempt was made to prepare emulgel of garlic oil and ajwain oil for enhancing its topical delivery. Material and Method: Emulgel formulation was characterized by various parameters like pH, viscosity, spredability, Extrudability, microbiological Assay.

Kinetics of Alanine Aminotransferase in Pheasant Blood Plasma during the Complex use of Vitamins and an Antistress Drug 野鸡血浆中丙氨酸氨基转移酶在复合使用维生素和抗抑郁药物过程中的动力学变化

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the effect of vitamins and an anti-stress drug on the biochemical parameters of the blood of pheasants. The purpose of the work is to identify the kinetics of age-related changes in blood alanine aminotransferase in pheasants with the complex use of vitamins and an anti-stress drug. Based on the experimental data obtained, it was found that after the inclusion of a complex of vitamins (A-20000 IU, D3 - 1250 IU, E - 50mg) and an anti-stress drug (succinic acid) in a dose of 0.05g per 1 kg of body weight into the diet of pheasants per day, in all experimental groups of pheasants, a change in the biochemical parameters of the activity of the enzyme ALT was detected. Based on the experimental data, a decrease in the activity of the ALT enzyme was revealed. It was found that the enzyme activity of the experimental groups of partridges was 2, 1.5, 1.0, 1.67, 1.17, 1.5 times less compared to the indicators of the control groups of pheasants. It was experimentally established that the indicators of ALT activity are in the range from 0.01 to 0.08 U/l, reaching a maximum value at 30 days of age.
