This text presents a critical approach to the evaluative culture currently present in most Chilean universities. This is done by analyzing the system of evaluation of the academic performance, particularly regarding research and publication. It is argued that there are distortions or anomalies caused by this system with regards to writing, the academic faculty and academic work which have had negative consequences on the development of university activity.

This article seeks to describe the university, firstly, as an "ideological apparatus" as established by the French philosopher Louis Althusser. Secondly, to argue that the transformations to this university apparatus do not come from within the apparatus itself but from its margins. In this last sense, and thirdly, I propose the texts Three Guineas by Virginia Woolf, The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and A Cyborg Manifesto by Donna Haraway as "manifestos" which uncover the androcentric logic that animates the university and interrupts its functionality as an ideological apparatus. Mainly, it is this scriptural margin of feminism as an interruption of the “university apparatus” what will be addressed in this article.

The paper presents three things. A conception in the Chilean context of the purposes served by education in general which claims to identify a key component of higher education; a speculation about the peculiarities of the period stretching between late modernity and the current “digital era”; and an elucidation of universities as engines that produce fake-news.

This article argues that the controversy that arose regarding the mention of Augusto Pinochet in the 2018 Museo Historico Nacional (Chile) exhibition cannot be understood without taking into account the international historically constructed image of the character since 1973. Relying on a corpus of press cartoons from various foreign written media, this paper explores how this image was built, and the existing and growing difficulties of showing Augusto Pinochet in the national public space. A diachronic and iconographic analysis allows us to demonstrate the gradual coincidence between the international negative image of Pinochet with the locally built representation.

Through the review of the exhibitions Wehrmachtsausstellung I and II, and the exhibition concept on the memory site Wewelsburg (representative place of the SS), both in Germany, this article reflects on the museographic criteria for the exhibitions, their contemporary social context and ethical questions about the objectives, media and challenges of exhibitions that seek to generate an impact on the public imagination, in order to contribute to the debate on the representation of perpetrators of crimes against humanity or human rights violations and to propose conclusions for the Chilean debate.
