In the “green economy” concept, issues of sustainable economic development are given special attention. Restructuring of the energy task is considered the most important sector for achieving the goals of sustainable economic development of the economic system. Hydrogen, as an energy carrier, will be one of the leading characters of the upcoming energy transition towards achieving carbon neutrality of global economies and combating climate change. To this end, it is vital to eliminate emissions in areas that are currently difficult to electrify, where hydrogen demonstrates its potential. The favorable geographical position and climatic conditions of Azerbaijan allow the widespread use of ecologically clean alternative (renewable) energy sources in our country

The article discusses a number of advantages and disadvantages of reducing carbon emissions and using hydrogen energy in the energy transition in our country. Depending on the legislation, technical readiness, financial resources and other factors, the presence of the following key points for the use of hydrogen has been highlighted: - Hydrogen production through low-carbon technologies plays an important role in the energy transition process; - The production of blue hydrogen is associated with the use of natural gas, which may affect our country’s natural gas exports. At the same time, the provision of additional support by our country in meeting the growing demand for gas along with contractual obligations to supply natural gas to European markets through existing pipelines was emphasized. This means an increase in the existing export capacities of natural gas supplied via TANAP and TAP by about 2 times; - Technological limitations for long-term transportation of green hydrogen along the Southern Gas Corridor; - Additional research is required to explore the possibilities of using green hydrogen in the oil refining, ammonia, methanol and other petrochemical industries; - Despite the adoption of strategic goals and documents in the relevant field, there is a lack of technical regulatory documents on the use of hydrogen energy and its application in various fields; - Due to the high offshore wind energy potential, green hydrogen production may be economically viable (further research required).; - The lack of water resources in our country can seriously affect the production of green hydrogen.

The paper deals with the “solar energy”, one of the areas of green energy in detail. In the modern world, the solar energy is considered the most perspective source of alternative energy with a great potential. The solar technologies turn the sun rays into the power energy via the photovoltaic (PV) panels or the mirrors accumulating solar radiation. The solar panels are used to obtain the power from solar energy while solar collectors are used for the heat and hot water supply. Solar panels are the devices developed from the light-sensitive semiconductor materials and turning solar energy into the power through the photoelements consisting of several layers in a general frame. Moreover, the movement of power energy depends on how high the light intensity is. The solar energy is produced via the the solar panels as the direct current (DC), and subsequently, power transisters – inventors turning this energy into the alternating current (AC) are used to integrate it to the network. In addition, the author marks that Azerbaijan has high potential of solar energy, as well as the projects implemented in this sphere by the State. The stations in the balance of the “Azalternativeenergy” LTD under the State Renewable Energy Sources Agency – Wind Power Station under Gobustan Hybrid Power Station, Solar and Biogas Power Stations are operated conjointly. Surakhany, Pirallahy, Sahil, Samukh, Sumgayit Solar Power Stations are described in detail. At the same time, it is noted that solar generation devices with small power have been installed by “Azalternativeenergy” LTD in thirteen social facilities, through which power supply and seasonal heat supply in nineteen social facilities are carried out as well.

Over the past millennium, the amount of the energy used per person has increased dramatically. However, the amount of energy consumed per person in various countries is quite different. Recently, renewable energy sources have become widely developed and are an environmentally friendly product. The energy industry as a whole must provide the population and industry with heat and power of adequate quality without interruption, without any ecological issue and on favorable terms as well. Hydrogen technologies and hydrogen energy based on them meet these requirements. Therefore, today large-scale research and technological developments in the field of hydrogen energy are being carried out globally. The main industrial methods for producing hydrogen are the conversion of methane and coke, as well as the electrolysis of water. The color gradation of hydrogen depends on the method of production and the level of emission to the atmosphere: green, blue and gray hydrogen. The author notes that at the present stage of the development of science and technology in Azerbaijan, a relevant and effective method of hydrogen production is a combined system for producing hydrogen based on solar and wind energy using innovative technology of water electrolysis and plasmolysis. It is necessary to develop scientific and technical areas in Azerbaijan to improve efficient methods for converting solar and wind energy and technologies for producing hydrogen from water. The author emphasizes that in order to implement the strategy of the President of the Republic to turn Azerbaijan into a center of green energy, it is necessary to mobilize the state, scientific, technical, educational and other structures of the Republic into one team, develop the scientific and technical programs, present the necessary projects, and expand international collaboration in these areas.

For more than twenty years ago, “Tectonic map of oil-gas bearing regions of Azerbaijan” and “Oil-gas geological zoning and oil-gas bearing perspectives of Azerbaijan” maps were published. When compiling them, along with the latest geological and geophysical data accumulated by that time (2003), the following maps were also used: “Oil and gas fields and promising structures of the Azerbaijan SSR” (1985), “Oil and gas potential of the Azerbaijan SSR” (1987) and the corresponding explanatory notes to them. Since then, the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea has again been covered by 2D seismic on a regional scale with a network density of seismic profiles of 2.5x2.5 km. On the land territory of Azerbaijan, a number of regional seismic profiles were developed using innovative technologies; the surveys continued to bring the discovered prospective objects into deep drilling. Based on the results of industrial and scientific research, the geological structure of the territory of Azerbaijan, including individual areas of depression zones and the water area of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, has been clarified. All these facts substantiate the necessity to generalize geological and geophysical data, particularly the map of oil and gas geological zoning. The paper discusses the results of interpretation of the up-to-date geological-geophysical data justifying the necessity of updating the map of “Oil-gas geological zoning and oil-gas bearing potential of Azerbaijan”. It is recommended to use the main property of hydrocarbon system while updating this map: Source formation → channels (ways) of fluid migration → reservoirs (hydrocarbon traps) > fluid seal (cover layers).

The chemical agents, materials and drilling mud types developed on them and applied in the drilling of oil and gas wells significantly affect the technical-economic parameters of well construction. Moreover, in the time of the innovative technologies implemented in the context of the drilling mud, the consideration of the environmental aspects is crucially important and defines the most significant research areas as well. Therefore, the minimization of the impact of the drilling mud types and the particles of subsurface rocks transported from the depth on the environment is of no small interest. In the context of “Absheron” agent developed in our country based on the “green technologies”, the perspectives of its employment in the drilling process according to the results of the experimental studies are reviewed in the paper. Thus, due to the scientific-research surveys conducted and the introduction of the results obtained in the production, the advantages of the “green technologies” have been identified, the perspectives of the further development of this trend specified as well.

The paper deals with the operations related to the recementing and waterproofing of the open water-gas interval after the perforation works of a well drilled in Bulla-deniz field carried out simultaneously with the state-of-the-art methods. The wells drilled in Bulla-deniz field are one of the most complicated ones in the Caspian region. The drilling of the areas, which require high density, as well as the isolation of IV horizon and the zones of high pressure via the tailpipe, prevented such issues as the drilling mud losses and catching of the drilling tool. The modern method of packering and the recementing operations employed while conducting repair and waterproofing are described in the paper in detail. Moreover, in the well with high pressure and temperature drilled in Bulla-deniz, the methods of recementing and waterproofing were used. The paper provides the graphs and tables developed with the purpose of preparation of simulation programs prior to the cementing operation and conformance checking of the simulation program of reality during the operation. Furthermore, the scheme of well completed, the risks that may occur during repair-waterproofing works and the methods of their prediction were studied.

The wells drilled in Bulla-deniz field are one of the most complicated ones in the Caspian region. The drilling of the areas, which require high density, as well as the isolation of IV horizon and the zones of high pressure via the tailpipe, prevented such issues as the drilling mud losses and catching of the drilling tool. The modern method of packering and the recementing operations employed while conducting repair and waterproofing are described in the paper in detail. Moreover, in the well with high pressure and temperature drilled in Bulla-deniz, the methods of recementing and waterproofing were used. The paper provides the graphs and tables developed with the purpose of preparation of simulation programs prior to the cementing operation and conformance checking of the simulation program of reality during the operation. Furthermore, the scheme of well completed, the risks that may occur during repair-waterproofing works and the methods of their prediction were studied.","PeriodicalId":8668,"journal":{"name":"Azerbaijan Oil Industry","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91213406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
