The oil fields of Azerbaijan are predominantly classified with layered formations with heterogeneous permeability. This is the reason for the fast watercut, formation of residual non-recoverable reserves in low-permeable reservoir zones, and for the decrease of production rate. The paper reviews the specification of the averaged value of phase permeability for the layers with decreasing permeability by depth in case when the water moves equally from upper to lower layers. The method described is generalized and effectively implemented provided that the curves of relative phase permeability corresponding to the end points change from layer to layer as well.

The effect of separately selected chemical agents Dissolvan 4411, Alkan 415, ND-12 and Gossipol resin, as well as their new compositions in the ratio Dissolvan 4411+ Alkan 415 + ND-12 + Gossipol resin = 1:1:1:1 (conventional name А-1) and ND-12 + Gossipol resin = 3:1 (conventional name А-2) on the physical-chemical characteristics of oil samples taken from Azerbaijani fields Muradkhanly, Bulla-deniz, Balakhany-Sabunchu-Ramana, Neft Dashlary and Surakhany has been studied. The process was carried out in two hours in the laboratory conditions at 20 °С temperature. Dissolvan 4411, Alkan 415 and ND-12 demulsifiers were taken in 600 g/t, Gossipol resin – in 200 g/t, and А-1 and А-2 compositions – in 800 g/t ratio correspondingly. It was defined that two hours after adding Dissolvan 4411, Alkan 415, ND-12, А-1 and А-2 compositions at 20 °С temperature into the oil samples from Muradkhanly, Bulla-deniz, Balakhany-Sabunchu-Ramana, Neft Dashlary and Surakhany fields, the parameters of density, viscosity, water content, chloride salts and mechanical impurities sharply decrease. The composition of resin, asphaltene and paraffin compounds increases. The freezing temperature in the oil samples from Muradkhanly and Bulla-deniz fields do not change while in the samples from Balakhany, Neft Dashlary and Surakhany fields it dramatically reduces. The results of comparative analysis carried out at 20 °С temperature in the laboratory tests revealed that specifically А-1 and А-2 compositions mostly affect the improvement of physical-chemical characteristics of oil samples from Muradkhanly, Bulla-deniz, Balakhany-Sabunchu-Ramana, Neft Dashlary and Surakhany fields. It justifies that the employment of multi-functional compositions in the preparation to transportation of heavy oils is more efficient.

The paper deals with the development and employment of a new method providing more reliable joint of metallic consolidation piles with upper constructions of offshore hydrotechnical facilities operated in the Caspian Sea. With this purpose, new monolite iron-concrete units providing more reliable joint, particularly in the points of joints of consolidation piles and supporting collars of offshore piers and pier areas (in the inner space of collar structure) considering design features of mentioned facilities are developed and applied. The employment of these monolite iron-concrete units in hydrotechnical facilities operated in the offshore conditions has a great significance in the context of the extension of their service life after the turnaround up to thirty years, the assurance of their reliability and minimization of possible risks in the operation process. Nevertheless, the paper presents the fragments of the objects of the special state significance where developed monolite iron-concrete units are applied, and the arguments on the role of these units in the assurance of durability, hardness and reliability of these facilities provided as well.

With the increase of production and processing of the heavy oils, an issue of the complex research of their group hydrocarbon content and properties occurs. An adsorption method of separation of native oil from Garbi Absheron field with KSM brand silicagel was applied to study the group hydrocarbon content. Methane-naphthene and separate groups of aromatic hydrocarbons, asphaltene-resin compounds have been obtained. It was established that this oil consists of 42.40 % saturated (methane-naphtene), 44.46 % aromatic hydrocarbons and 13.14 % asphaltene-resin compounds. The structural group content of the fractions obtained has been studied via the spectral (IR and UV) methods. Due to the fact that by its physico-chemical properties, commercial quality and fractional analysis, this oil is close to the other Azerbaijani heavy oils, their combined transportation and refining is recommended.

The parameters of reservoir should be specified in order to calculate hydrocarbon reserves. In particular, the uncertainty of reservoir parameters occurs mostly in the new areas. Thus, for the geological substantiation of reservoir parameters in these areas an analogy method is used. However, in the geological substantiation of reservoir parameters with analogical approach, it is essential to use the data on the field development in adjacent territories not in numerical order, but considering the distribution regularity. Such an approach allows specifying the uncertainty degree of reservoir parameters in the calculation of hydrocarbon reserves of the fields. The distribution regularities of reservoir parameters have been studied by the horizons in the fields of South Caspian Basin that has a great significance for the update of hydrocarbon reserves of the fields, for the efficiency of field development, as well as for the specification of the ways of reducing geological risks. Therefore, for the calculation or update of hydrocarbon reserves of the fields in South Caspian Basin, the statistical limits of reservoir parameters (maximum, minimum, mode etc.) and distribution regularities (normal, lognormal) have been studied. This paper may be used not only in the South Caspian, but in other oil-gas basins of Azerbaijan as well.

One of the perspective directions of the employment of ionic liquids is using them as “green” preferential solvent in the process of extraction treatment of undesirable components (aromatic hydrocarbons, sulfur and resin compounds) from the composition of oil fractions. The process of extraction treatment of ionic liquid of various oil distillates may be reviewed as an alternative traditional method of treatment and additional way in the combination of extraction process with other treatment methods allowing combining the advantages of both methods. The paper presents the results of combined process of extraction treatment of hydraulically cleaned diesel fraction using as an extractant of ionic liquids synthesized based on the vinegar acid dipropyl and dibutilamines. It is shown that during step-by-step extraction treatment of ionic liquid of diesel distillate compared to the one-step process, relatively high degree of dearomatization and desulphurization of crude is achieved. In three-phase extraction treatment of diesel distillate with diropilammonium acetate and dibutillamonium acetate with ionic liquids, relatively high extraction capacity diropilammonium acetate of ionic liquids containing more voluminous cation fragment is specified.

The paper studies the methods of prevention of necking of casings and in particular, production strings, as well as the complications occurring in the drilling process in the Caspian Sea as a result of clay flowing out and prediction of such kind of issues. Moreover, in the selection of production strings, “Stress Check” software program was used. One of the geological issues leading to the necking of casing is probably poorly cemented clay layers. In addition, the structure of the well drilled in Bulla-deniz field, formation pressure and the selection of casing for this well have been considered. In conclusion, the selection of casing to be lowered into the gas well in Bulla-deniz field has been executed via “Stress Check“ software program.

The research surveys have been carried out based on the actual data obtained in the patches of Sangachal-deniz-Duvanny-deniz-Khara-Zira adasy field. The changing of dynamics of oil production as a result of the eruptions of mud volcanoes, reservoir properties of the samples, as well as the other characteristics of field development are reviewed. It was revealed that during volcano eruption, despite the distance from it, the flow rate of the wells changed and in those located near volcano, the flow rate remained unchanged. The reason for the increase and decrease of production was the geological-mountain surveys conducted in the wells, and by the technical reasons, repair works carried out in the wells and some other aspects as well.

The paper analyzes the operation of unit of seat-ball on oil well pump. The stressed-deformed state of seat-ball has been theoretically studied. It was established that one of the major reasons for the breakdown of the valve unit is the deformation of seat edge. Considered the mentioned above, a design of valve unit allowing eliminating the probable deformation of the seat from ball beat is offered. The design offered has been tested and initial positive results obtained as well.

The concept of human capacity includes not only the human resources, but specific level of combined capabilities of the staff for a goal achievement as well. In modern conditions, the organization is considered complicated social-technical system; on the one hand, it is a summary of objects and tools of labor, and on the other hand – personnel for the production of goods and services. Today, the staff is a complicated social system, where separate individuals and group of people function interrelated following specific principles. Nevertheless, they meet the requirements of an enterprise and psychological climate even though the salary remains unchanged, they work productively. The pay rise not always leads to the increase of labor productivity. The staff use should meet the requirements of an organization, not break the interests of a person and provide the compliance to the labor legislation in work process, as well as the efficiency of staff activity.
