Prevalence of Yersinia enterocolitica and other Species in Some Retailed Chicken Meat Product. 部分零售鸡肉产品中小肠结肠炎耶尔森菌及其它菌种的流行情况。

Keywords The purpose of the current work is to learn more about Yersinia spp. Isolated from chicken meat products. A total of 100 samples were obtained from various retail markets at Tanta, Gharbia governorate, Egypt. Represented by chicken burger, Pane, luncheon, and nuggets (25 of each). Yersinia sp p was isolated from chicken burger, Pane, luncheon, and nuggets at 8%, 32%, 8%, and 16% respectively. Antimicrobial tolerance has been studied by using the disk dispersion methods, Yersinia isolates' levels of resistance were assessed to the seven various antimicrobial drugs. Sixteen isolates indicated resistance to Vancomycine (43.75%), gentamycin, and Cefotaxime, respectively, as well as Doxycycline (93.75), Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid (62.5), ciprofloxacin (50%) and erythromycin (50%) in that order. Detection of Yersinia strains was successfully performed with traditional and recent methods (PCR technique) to investigate these genes 16S rRNA, ystA, ystB. The discovery of Yersinia spp . in products containing chicken meat showed that the need for more knowledge about the danger connected with the transportation and preparation of chicken.

Modulatory effects of experimentally induced hyperthyroidism and melatonin on thymus gland immune function in male rat 实验性甲状腺机能亢进和褪黑素对雄性大鼠胸腺免疫功能的调节作用

Keywords The current study aimed to investigate how L-thyroxine-induced hyperthyroidism and melatonin affect the immune system. The rats were divided into four groups, each with ten rats. The rats received the following treatments for four weeks: group I, control group; group II, melatonin group, treated with melatonin; group III, hyperthyroid group, treated with L-thyroxine; and group IV, hyperthyroid + melatonin group, treated with L-thyroxine and melatonin. Serum total T3 and T4 levels, CD4 + and CD8 + T lymphocytes analysis using flow cytometry, and relative gene expression of TNF-α, IL-10, IL-2, and IFN-γ were evaluated. The results revealed that hyperthyroidism substantially increased CD4 + T cells while not affecting CD8 + T cells percentage. Moreover, TNF-α, IL-2, and IFN-γ expressions were significantly upregulated in hyperthyroid rats, whereas IL-10 was not significantly altered. Melatonin administration to hyperthyroid rats significantly decreased thyroid hormone levels, increased CD4 + and CD8 + T cells percentage, upregulated IL-10, IL-2, and IFN-γ gene expression, and downregulated TNF-α gene expression. When compared to controls, the melatonin group exhibited a substantially higher percentage of CD4 + and CD8 + T cells and elevated levels of IL-10, IL-2, and IFN-γ gene expression; however, TNF-α gene expression had not changed appreciably. Therefore, it might be concluded that L-thyroxine and melatonin induce T lymphocyte proliferation and that melatonin also has anti-inflammatory properties.

A potential chemopreventive activity of tamoxifen and amygdalin on oxidative stress in mammary carcinoma-induced in female mice. 他莫昔芬和苦杏仁苷对雌性小鼠乳腺癌诱导氧化应激的潜在化学预防作用。

Keywords This study was undertaken to investigate the potential effect of tamoxifen and amygdalin in mammary carcinoma induced in mice. Fifty female albino mice, 4-6 weeks old age, were divided into five equal groups: group I (control normal) administrated no drugs; group II (carcinogenic group) administrated 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) dissolved in sesame oil (50 mg/kg b.wt) once a weak orally for 4 weeks; group III (tamoxifen treated group) given tamoxifen (50 mg/kg b.wt/day) orally for 4 weeks after induction of mammary cancer; group IV (amygdalin treated group) treated with amygdalin (0.6 mg/kg b.wt/day) for 4 weeks after induction of mammary carcinoma; group V (tamoxifen + amygdalin treated group) administrated tamoxifen as in group (III) with amygdalin as in group (IV). The obtained results exhibited that DMBA-induced mammary carcinomas caused a significant increase in serum progesterone and mammary tissue L-malondialdehyde (L-MDA) concentrations, with significant decrease in total antioxidant capacity (TAC) as compared to the control group. However, the administration of tamoxifen and amygdalin alleviates DMBA-induced mammary carcinomas through decreasing serum progesterone and L-MDA concentrations, along with increasing TAC concentration in mammary tissue. Additionally, hematological parameters of tamoxifen and amygdalin-treated mice displayed a significant increase compared to mammary cancer treated mice. Thus, it can be concluded that tamoxifen with amygdalin may be successful in the treatment of mammary carcinoma as well as improvement of oxidative stress of mammary carcinoma tissue.

Prevalence and antibiotic resistance patterns of Aeromonas and Pseudomonas species recovered from aquatic foods sold at the retail market in Egypt. 从埃及零售市场出售的水产食品中回收的气单胞菌和假单胞菌的流行率和抗生素耐药性模式。

Keywords Overuse of antibiotics in the fish and shellfish production systems throughout time may be one of the primary causes of growing antibiotic resistance in bacteria. In this study, 90 samples of Nile Tilapia, Mugil, and shrimps were tested for the presence of Aeromonas and Pseudomonas species and monitored their antibiotic resistance pattern. The isolated bacterial strains were identified based on morphological and biochemical characteristics. Further, the isolates were tested against 14 antimicrobial agents using the disc diffusion method, and the multidrug resistance pattern was studied. The results showed that across the three sample types, Pseudomonas fluorescens (26.7%) and Aeromonas hydrophila (21.1%) were the most common, followed by A. caviae (14.4%), P. putrefaciens (13.3%), A. sobria (12.2%), P. fragi (11.1%), P. alcaligenes (10%), A. veronii (5.6%), P. proteolytica (4.4%), P. aeruginosa (3.3%), P. cepacian (2.2%), and A. fluvialis (1.1%). The two most common strains were submitted for susceptibility analysis that revealed multidrug-resistant. For Aeromonas hydrophila the highest rates of resistance were to streptomycin (100%) and penicillin G (92.3%), then erythromycin (84.6%) and cefotaxime (84.6%). For Pseudomonas fluorescens highest rates of resistance were to Nalidixic acid (100%) and streptomycin (100%), then erythromycin (91.7%), penicillin G (79.2%) and cephalothin (75%). Pseudomonas fluorescens and Aeromonas hydrophila had average multiple antibiotic resistance indexes of 0.521 and 0.494, respectively. In conclusion, fish, and shellfish sold in the Egyptian market act as a reservoir for the multi-resistant Aeromonas and Pseudomonas genera. These significant findings call for effective risk assessment models and management plans that protect human, and animal.

Changes in Peripapillary Microvasculature and Retinal Thickness in the Fellow Eyes of Patients with Unilateral Retinal Vein Occlusion: An OCTA Study 单侧视网膜静脉闭塞患者同侧眼乳头周围微血管和视网膜厚度的变化:一项OCTA研究

Background: Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disease following diabetic retinopathy and is a frequent cause of significant visual loss and associated morbidity. Aim and objectives: To assess peripapillary Vessel Density (VD), Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL) and Ganglion Cell Complex (GCC) in the fellow eyes of patients with unilateral Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) (either CRVO or BRVO) using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) and compare it with controls. Subjects and methods: This is an observational study that will be conducted on (25) patients with unilateral RVO (either CRVO or BRVO) and (25) normal controls chosen from outpatient clinic. Results: The RNFL thicknesses in the fellow eyes of RVO patients was significantly thinner than in normal controls. VD of radial peripappillary plexus and ganglion cell complex thickness were slightly lower than those of controls. Conclusion: OCTA revealed that RNFL thickness in the fellow eyes of patients with unilateral RVO was significantly decreased, lower peripapillary VD and GCC thickness were also observed compared to healthy controls.

Aim: The purpose of this research was to determine whether or not there is a correlation between vitamin-D status and LOS in full-term infants. Methods: Eighty participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Group I (LOS group) consisted of 40 newborns diagnosed with LOS at presentation between 72 and 28 days of age. Forty full-term, healthy newborns made comprised Group II, the control group. All of the newborns involved in the study had a thorough history taken, a comprehensive clinical examination performed, and several laboratory tests performed, including a complete blood count, C-reactive protein, Random blood sugar, blood culture, urine culture, and CSF analysis and culture. The 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH-D) levels were measured quantitatively using an auto chemiluminescence immunoassay instrument (Maccura i1000). Results: The results showed that the LOS group had significantly lower vitamin D levels than the control group, as well as a significantly greater prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency and severe deficiency. Patients with a maternal history of diabetes, hypertension, or recurrent urinary tract infections also had lower vitamin D levels than their rural counterparts. Vitamin D levels were positively correlated with the APGAR score, while total bilirubin levels were inversely correlated with Vitamin D levels. conclusion: In conclusion, term newborns with LOS had lower levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D than the control group. Patients from metropolitan regions, as well as those with a maternal history of diabetes, hypertension, or recurrent urinary tract infections, had significantly lower vitamin D levels.

: Background: Knee pain is a common complaint among individuals, and accurate diagnosis of the underlying pathology is essential for appropriate management. Ultrasonography has emerged as a promising imaging modality for evaluating knee pathologies due to its accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and real-time imaging capabilities. This study aimed to compare ultrasonography with true fast imaging with steady state precession MRI images in assessment of femoro-trochlear cartilage in anterior knee pain. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study included patients with anterior knee pain. Complete history taking, general clinical examination, and NPRS assessment-were performed. Ultrasonography of the affected knee joint was conducted using a linear probe (7-12 MHz Logiq P5). Subsequently, true fast imaging with steady state precession MRI images of the same patients-was analyzed. Results: The study included patients with a mean age of 34.85 years, with 57.7% being females. Ultrasonography and MRI findings were categorized based on severity and associated features. Positive and negative predictive values, as well as sensitivity and specificity-were calculated for each finding. The results demonstrated significant agreement between ultrasonography and MRI findings, with notable sensitivity and specificity values for most categories. Conclusion: The study revealed that ultrasonography and MRI exhibit distinct strengths in detecting femoro-trochlear cartilage abnormalities. Ultrasonography demonstrated high positive predictive values in most findings, while MRI exhibited excellent specificity. Sensitivity varied between the two modalities for different cartilage grades. Both techniques demonstrated overall agreement in identifying cartilage structural changes, albeit with varying diagnostic performance in specific grades.

Ovarian rejuvenation by PRP (Platelet –Rich Plasma) 富血小板血浆促卵巢年轻化

: Background: Ovarian rejuvenation is a potential therapeutic approach aimed at enhancing ovarian function and improving fertility results in women with poor ovarian reserve (POR). Aim: To compare PRP and normal saline injections impacts on (FSH-LH-AMH-E2) & AFC in POR patients. Methods: This pilot multi-center study included 20 patients with poor ovarian response (POR). Patients underwent laparoscopy, with Group A receiving an autologous PRP injection and Group B receiving a normal saline injection. Hormone levels, including FSH, LH, estradiol, and AMH, were monitored before and every month after PRP injection for a duration of 6 months. Antral follicles count was also assessed prior and following PRP treatment. Results: According to the ovulation status of Group A after PRP injection, out of the 10 participants, 3 (30%) ovulated, while 7 (70%) did not ovulate. Antral follicular count post treatment showed a significant negative correlation with FSH (p<0.001) and LH (p=0.002). Antral follicular count post treatment showed a significant positive correlation with E2 (p=0.001) while no significant correlation with age and AMH. Conclusions: PRP therapy leads to a substantial decrease in LH and FSH concentrations. Additionally, PRP treatment leads to a substantial elevation in estradiol (E2) levels. Antral follicle count (AFC), a marker of ovarian reserve and follicular growth, significantly increases after PRP therapy, suggesting enhanced follicular development.
