Having introduced Competetive Team Based Learning (CTBL), my innovative approach to teaching, this paper presents a cogent and critical analysis and comparison of CTBL with other popular methods /approaches in the arena of Education in general and Language Teaching in particular, in terms of their distinguishing features and characteristics. Among such methods and approaches are Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Collaborative Learning (ColL), Interactive Learning (IntL), and Cooperative Learning (CL) methods which are appreciated particularly in the U.S. and in the West. A synthesis of the distinguishing drawbacks of the comparison methods and approaches is part of the article. The chapter also explicates how CTBL, my educational innovation, that has been formulated based on my edu-political theories (Hosseini, 2023) is, in the last analysis, an approach to human security and prosperity and world peace. I hope this chapter would contribute to making a sound decision on implementing CTBL in the arena of (Language) Education for the ultimate goal of peace making and more compassionate civilizations building.

With the development of transmedia research, many writers begin to pay attention to the comparison and transformation between literature and other artistic media, and practice it in literary creation. Contemporary English novelist A.S. Byatt is one of the practitioners of transmedia literary creation. Through the use of “ekphrasis”, she skillfully and naturally integrates the art work into the literary creation, making the text have a visual effect. This paper takes A.S. Byatt’s three short stories Christ in the House of Martha and Mary, Art Work and Rose-Colored Teacup as examples to explore the ekphrarstic re-creation of paintings, sculptures and pottery in her works, and then analyzes the deep connotation brought by the ekphrasis between different artistic media to literary texts.

Language sense is a skill, and cultivating students’ language sense ability has theoretical and practical significance for language teaching. However, compared with English, French, and other universally taught languages, more research needs to be done on teaching language sense in Chinese as a foreign language. Therefore, based on the advanced theories of language sense research, we discuss the role of Chinese songs in cultivating Chinese language sense to put forward some constructive suggestions for teaching language sense in Chinese as a foreign language.

Changes of customer demand and the development of information technology have driven profound changes in the hotel industry, and the transformation and upgrading of the hotel industry has put forward new requirements for hotel management professional talent training and teaching innovation. In this paper, on the basis of analysing the current problems of hotel management professional course teaching, for example the teacher’s output is the main focus and students’ effective participation is insufficient; the teaching conditions support is limited and the scenario-based teaching experience is insufficient; the teaching design is shallow and students’ in-depth learning is insufficient, we discuss the appropriateness of constructivist theory to guide the teaching innovation of hotel management courses, and we propose to adopt a variety of pedagogical approaches to improve student Based on this, we discuss the appropriateness of constructivism theory to guide the teaching innovation of hotel management course, and the innovative path of course teaching by adopting various teaching methods to improve students’ participation, improving teaching conditions to enhance students’ situational experience, and perfecting teaching design to promote students’ deep learning.

Informing undergraduates on environmental conservation education topics related to the Anthropocene can present challenges. Allowing students to work together in groups to actively design projects to both conduct surveys and inform others via social media are two related strategies for student based instruction as a form of learning. As part of a special topic conservation biology course, Humans in the Anthropocene, undergraduate biology majors collected data from surveys on topics related to the Anthropocene, while concomitantly using social media (posting 2 TikTok videos) to engage in science communication and learn about factors impacting topics. Responses to Likert scale questions and reflections from this group activity were overwhelmingly positive with students reporting they preferred this form of hands-on learning and that this activity piqued their interest, and students learned valuable skills on data presentation alongside creative communication using social media. Incorporating surveys, videos, and presentations therefore is an effective method for engaging students and communities regarding environmental issues related to the Anthropocene.

It is the historical mission and sacred duty of Chinese universities to cultivate innovative talents. Researchers in the domain of foreign language education have undertaken in-depth theoretical research around the cultivation of innovative talents in the past few decades. Taking 35 academic articles published in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) as the research sample, this study uses textual analysis to conduct a diachronic review of the generation background, concept definition, quality indicators, and educational mechanisms to discover a wealth of innovative wisdom in the academic community. However, there is a lack of research in areas such as teacher education and educational evaluation, which will require focused attention in the future.

This study examines the impact of using local languages versus English as the medium of instruction in Zambian primary schools. It focuses on grades one to four in selected schools in Livingstone District, following the policy change to promote local languages. Using a case study approach, both qualitative and quantitative methods are employed, with data collected through questionnaires. The sample includes 50 participants (pupils, teachers, and administrators) selected randomly. SPSS and Excel are used to analyze the collected quantitative data.Findings reveal that Zambian children face similar challenges in learning to read English as those learning a new language. Language divergence between the learner’s dialect and the instructional dialect significantly affects learning and reading difficulties. The greater the divergence, the harder the learning process becomes. Bridging the gap between vernacular-speaking children’s existing language forms and those found in reading materials and teacher instructions is crucial, particularly during initial literacy instruction. The study presents compelling evidence supporting the use of local languages as the medium of instruction instead of English.

Under the background of the new engineering discipline, talent cultivation requires not only intellectual education but also moral education. In response to the main issues concerning ideological and political education in the current new engineering discipline curriculum, this paper focuses on exploring the process of ideological and political construction in tunnel engineering. It highlights the necessity of curriculum-based ideological and political education and the exploration of ideological and political elements. These elements are cleverly integrated into the course design, and the effectiveness of the ideological and political practice in the curriculum is examined through an evaluation of teaching outcomes. The aim is to improve the educational effectiveness of the tunnel engineering construction course and provide valuable insights and references for the ideological and political construction in other engineering disciplines.

Vocabulary is the basic unit that constitutes a language, and is an important carrier for conveying information and constructing meaning. The study of Chinese vocabulary acquisition in China is mostly on the analysis of bias. The study adopts questionnaire survey method which take foreign students from Southwest Petroleum University as an example to study the vocabulary acquisition of the Chinese everyday language. The phenomenon of investigation was analyzed from Atkinson’s social cognitive perspective. The results of the study indicate that vocabulary of everyday terms has not been fully learned by international students even they got certificates. And everyday language vocabulary should receive attention from teachers to international students. In teaching process, it’s vital to give full play to the alignment between the social environment, social activities and learners, which could help international students improve their language competence.
