This paper examines the implementation of escape rooms as an innovative instructional strategy in the science classroom to foster increased student motivation and engagement. By applying escape room concepts within the science curriculum, the aim is to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking among students. The study involved 68 students from a year 10 (14-15 years old) group based on the British based IGCSE science curriculum. The immersive nature of escape rooms, coupled with the integration of scientific concepts and problem-solving tasks, provided students with a hands-on and collaborative approach to learning, promoting deeper understanding and knowledge retention. Additionally, this article discusses the potential challenges faced during the implementation of escape rooms and offers practical strategies for educators to overcome these obstacles. Overall, this research supports the use of escape rooms as a viable and engaging instructional tool in the science classroom, offering educators an innovative approach to foster student motivation, enhance learning outcomes, and cultivate a lifelong passion for scientific exploration. Further research is encouraged to explore the long-term effects of escape room implementation and its potential application in other academic disciplines.

As teachers continue to leave the teaching profession Ministries of Education continue to find ways to address this problem. Research indicated mentoring as an effective approach to support novice teachers (Stock & Duncan, 2010) resulting in many countries developing mentoring programs. Research found that teacher mentoring programs positively impact teacher retention (Ingersoll & Strong, 2011), however Tomlinson (2019) argued that there is lack of structure to guide mentors within many mentoring programs. Knight et al. (2014) showed some concerns regarding the practice of those individuals who are involved in mentoring of novice teachers and went on to emphasize the importance of identifying and defining mentoring strategies. Moreover, Will (2017 cited by Tomlinson 2019) stressed the value of quality mentoring and the need for mentors to establish a defined set of mentoring strategies for effective facilitation of professional development of new teachers. In a similar vein, Schwan, Wold, Moon, Neville, and Outka (2020) citing Breaux and Wong, (2003); Callahan (2016); Darling-Hammond (2012; White & Mason, 2003) also stressed the importance of developing organized and meaningful mentoring programs to address the issue of teacher attrition. While numerous studies have been conducted on mentoring programs elsewhere however there is dearth research on a structured and meaningful mentoring program within the Pacific including Samoa. There is a great need to develop a mentoring program within the Samoan context as this can develop mentors’ knowledge and understanding in supporting teachers and to address the teacher attrition problem.

Under the “double-track integration” training model, there are problems with short learning time, scattered locations, and inconsistent schedules for master of medicine. The traditional method of face-to-face teaching in a centralized setting cannot meet the new training requirements. The standardized training for resident physicians strictly requires a 33-month period for clinical skills training. How can we reform the teaching methods while maintaining the same length of the curriculum, in order to balance the standardized training for resident physicians and course learning? Online open courses have the characteristics of fragmented knowledge, abundant resources, diverse formats, flexible choices, and unrestricted learning time and location. They can effectively resolve the conflict between course learning and standardized training for master of medicine under the “double-track integration” training model. How to successfully develop online courses has become a key issue in the reform of course teaching for master of medicine. Based on the experience of course teaching management for master of medicine, this article discusses some considerations for the construction of online open courses.

“Rat Race” is the translation of the Chinese slang term “Juan”, which alludes the widespread English education anxiety in China. The term is coined against the backdrop of limited high-quality English educational resources and mirrors drastic internal competition among Chinese students. While Social Darwinism, with its principle of “natural selection and survival of the fittest”, suggests that competition is an essential factor in society and individuals are supposed to stand out from the group. Despite its drawbacks, this theory is still able to reflect China’s current English education phenomenon. This paper delves into the circumstance of “rat race” from the perspective of Social Darwinism and analyzes the effects and implications of the “rat race”. Based on the data that released by the Chinese Ministry of English education, the reality of Chinese English education “rat race” is gradually exposed. These findings echo complicated reasons and consequences of “rat race”. More specifically, this kind of competition undoubtedly unveil the impediments of English education system, economic depression and stereotyped standpoints, Some scholars studied the occasion of “rat race”, but they only unravel reasons or suggestions toward such dilemma. Thus, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive standpoint of “rat race” and explore new search ideas as well as giving policy suggestions.

As socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era, the flourishing development of volunteer service has become an important symbol of social civilization and modernization. Starting from the ethical perspective of volunteer service, this paper proposes some thoughts and insights for building a “Chinese model” of college student volunteer service based on a systematic discussion of the ethical connotation, ethical characteristics, ethical functions, ethical values and practical paths of volunteer service, which provides a new logical-theoretical generalization and practical choice paradigm for strengthening the construction of the socialist core value system and advancing the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity. This will provide a brand-new logical-theoretical generalization and practical choice paradigm for strengthening the construction of the socialist core value system and promoting the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity.

It first introduces the background of the study, indicating the importance of carrying out innovation and entrepreneurship education, and the value of “LTCI” mode. Then a review of the literature shows the need for this study. After that, the paper analyzes the status quo of the foreign language maker teams at Baoding University. Based on the existing problems, the researcher proposes the framework and implementation plan on the construction of maker teams of foreign language majors with “LTCI” involvement. It is expected that the research will promote the innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities of the foreign language maker teams, and enhance the output of innovative foreign language talents.
