The objective was to evaluate the in vitro ruminal degradation kinetics of three corn genotypes (flint, semi-flint and semi-dent) in four particle sizes (greater than 1400 µm; between 1400 and 850 µm; between 850 and 420 µm; and smaller than 420 µm), by the semi-automatic cumulative gas production technique. There was an effect of genotype and particle size on total gas production and colonization time. Flint corn in smaller particles provides better ruminal fermentation parameters, with higher total gas production, higher degradation rate of potentially degradable fraction of carbohydrates and shorter lag time.

Congenital malformations are structural or functional abnormalities present at birth, caused by genetic, environmental or both factors, with cleft lip and palate being more frequent. A puppy, canine, male, english bulldog, weighing 1 kg, was attended to at a veterinary hospital in the municipality of Ji-Paraná/RO. On physical examination, it was found that he had unilateral cleft lip and palate, opting for the palatoplasty procedure with the bipedicled sliding flap technique and cheiloplasty, as a treatment for palatoschisis and unilateral cheiloschisis. Showing that the cheiloplasty technique was efficient for cleft lip correction and the palatoplasty procedure was unsuccessful due to suture dehiscence.

In contemporary times, mastitis occupies a prominent place for its economic and public health importance, causing direct losses on production costs and losses in milk quality. This study aimed to analyze aspects related to mycotic mastitis caused by the fungus of the genus Geotrichum sp. In the available literature, few reports incriminate this pathogen as the causative agent of mastitis, however, it is among the causative microorganisms. It is concluded that control and prevention measures, including environment, animal health and milking management, should be given special attention by producers, as they are measures that reduce cases of mastitis and consequently reduce costs with treatments and animal disposal.

This randomized blinded study objected to investigate a local anesthesia (0,5% bupivacaine) in the surgical incision site in dogs underwent to ovariohysterectomy by celiotomy or video-assisted by two-portal. Twenty-eight healthy adults were selected. Dogs were divided into celiotomy control group, celiotomy blocking group (BC), video-assisted control group and blocking video-assisted group (BV). In the BC and BV, bupivacaine was administered SC in the incision line or port sites. Control groups received NaCl 0,9% at the same sites. Three evaluators blinded evaluated postoperative pain, using Melbourne Pain Scale and visual analog scale. The anesthetic infiltrative blockade used was efficient in promoting postoperative comfort in both celiotomy and video assisted OVH.

Three corn genotypes (hard, semi-hard and semindented) ground in a 10 mm diameter sieve and separated into four particle sizes (greater than 1400 µm; between 1400 and 850 µm; between 850 and 420 µm; and smaller than 420 µm) were evaluated. Starch degradation was verified after incubations in the rumen of cattle, at times of 3, 6, 9, 15, 24 and 48 hours. Corn genotypes with lower vitreousness showed higher solubility, rumen passage rate and rumen degradation. Genotypes in smaller particles showed higher degradations than larger particles. Corn with low vitreousness associated with finer grinding showed better ruminal starch fermentation.

Mesquite pod samples collected in Northeast Brazil were read in natura and pre-processed in NIR Perten® DA 7250 (PerkinElmer, Inc., USA), and pre-processed in NIR FOSS 5000 Nirsystem II using ISIScan® software. Reference analyzes were obtained by conventional methodologies in an animal nutrition laboratory. The reference results showed good variation in chemical composition. In the performance of the models, those developed with sample pre-processing were more efficient than those built with in natura samples. And among the instruments, Perten performed similarly to the FOSS instrument.

With the increase in bacterial resistance in recent decades, there is an increasing need for the association of drugs with antimicrobial effects in treatments. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate in vitro the antimicrobial effect of 0.7% procaine hydrochloride associated or not with 0.023% sodium bicarbonate on Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis and Staphylococcus aureus, pathogens commonly present in urinary tract infections of dogs, by broth dilution and disc diffusion methods. It is thus concluded that 0.7% procaine hydrochloride solutions; 0.023% sodium bicarbonate and solution containing 0.7% procaine hydrochloride with 0.023% sodium bicarbonate have antimicrobial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Proteus mirabilis, and only 0.7% procaine hydrochloride has antimicrobial action against Escherichia coli.

This research aims to identify the various actors and their missions to fire management in Berriane oasis; a south-east region of Algeria known for its challenging environment and dense oases. The research is conducted in three main steps respectively involving the characterization of oases fires in the Berriane region, analysis of the spatial variability of fire in relation to the human and environmental factors, and finally, role of the different actors by the MACTOR method. The analysis of structured games between actors allowed assessing their influences and dependencies. Results confirm the role of actors of agricultural fires management the protection of the oasis ecosystem.

The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of green pruning on the production and quality of cuttings of the grapevine rootstock Paulsen 1103, using two treatments: without green pruning and with green pruning. Variables evaluated: production, and quality of cuttings, differentiated according to diameter, for table grafting (diameter: 0.8cm to 1.2cm) and for field planting, production of rooted rootstock (diameter: 0.5cm to 0.7cm). In the 2018 cycle green pruning increased production of cuttings for table grafting (55.17%), without affecting production.ha-1. In 2019, there was an increase in production.ha-1 by 49.4% and in the production of cuttings for table grafting.

The effect of Trichoderma harzianum and T. longibrachiatum in promoting plant growth was studied in Chionanthus pubescens, Eucalyptus cinerea e Cupressus macrocarpa. As variables associated with the growth and development of forest plants, the height, stem length, number of leaves and dry weight of the plants were evaluated. The two Trichoderma species used had a positive effect, improving most of the variables evaluated in the forest’s species studied.
