This special issue of Islamic Education as the Core for Formation of Barakah Campus brings together 10 selected articles presented at 2018 International Conference on Islamic Higher Education (SeIPTI) which was held on 25 & 26 November. The conference was organized by Faculty of Leadership and Management, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). The topics presented discussed on knowledge integration and learning process among Malaysian University graduates, including a special discussion on Muslim gifted and talented students. This special issue also highlighted topics on academics’ working satisfaction towards co-worker, as well as the relationship between Muslim and the non-Muslim according to the perspective of Maqasid Syariah in Malaysia, as well as the importance of barakah (Allah’s blessings) in building a nation. In addition, an article on measuring the effectiveness of University programs gave emphasis to the use of meta-analysis and systematic review of various evaluation models.

Correlation Study Between Learning Style And Multiple Intelligence Among Muslim Gifted And Talented 穆斯林资优儿童学习方式与多元智力的相关性研究

The current study aimed to identify the correlation between learning style and Multiple Intelligence among Muslim gifted and talented students. The study also attempts to investigate the most dominant learning style practice by Muslim gifted and talented along with the most dominant intelligence among them. To achieve this aim, the Multiple Intelligence Self Inventory (MISI) and Malay Version of Visual Aural Read or write and Kinesthetics (VARK) instruments were administered towards 165 Muslim gifted and talented students aged 14 to16 years old. Data were analyzed descriptive and inferentially and presented in a percentage frequency table. The results of the study showed that there are insignificant correlation between Multiple Intelligence and learning style among Muslim Gifted and Talented. Additionally, the study also discovered that the most dominant learning style practiced by Muslim Gifted and Talented students is Kinesthetics (48.10%) and the most dominant intelligence among Muslim Gifted and Talented students is Spiritual Intelligence (43.67%). The study concluded with suggestion of developing a module on teaching methodology for Muslim gifted learners.

Pendakwah Kampung Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady Dalam Pemikiran Politik

This article discusses Muhammad Uthman El-Muhmamady’s thought in the context of his political philosophy. His political thought can be expressed in three important components, namely Nationhood, Partisan and Leadership and Administration. This article employs library research. The discussion focuses on the concept of democracy in Islam, spirit of asabiyyah and nationalism, and good governance from the Islamic perspective. This article found that with a combination of these three components has be shown that El-Muhammady political thought influence by traditional philosophy Islamic Scholar Ahli Sunnah such as Imam al-Ghazali and al-Mawardi.
本文从穆罕默德·奥斯曼·穆罕默德的政治哲学的角度来探讨他的思想。他的政治思想可以表现为三个重要组成部分,即国家、党派和领导与管理。本文采用图书馆研究法。讨论的重点是伊斯兰的民主概念、阿萨比耶和民族主义精神以及伊斯兰视角下的善治。本文发现,结合这三个组成部分可以看出穆罕默德的政治思想受到传统哲学伊斯兰学者阿赫利·孙奈如伊玛目·加扎里和马瓦尔迪的影响。

نمط الدعوة في إندونيسيا وتحدياته 印度尼西亚的宣传模式和挑战

Islam spreads in Indonesia without violence, and preachers who came after them followed the path of their predecessors, calling peacefully. But the situation changed after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Indonesia's religious life has undergone a total change due to pressure from the Dutch government, keeping away Muslims from Arabic, politics and Islamic law. This research aims to find a suitable way how to prepare preachers and restores the best path in the call, and the Islamic call to the previous era of glory. Through the methods of descriptive analysis, and documentary study, I found that there is are phenomena of violence in the call that committed by a small group of preachers, that they do not have a little patience and use of force, which are contrary to the nature of the people of Islam in Indonesia. The teaching of Islam is far from the violent. It has been shown that the preachers of Indonesia need a greater range of knowledge and skills about cultures, religious and historical culture, linguistic, human nature, practcal aspect and real situation.

Kearifan Tempatan Mengenai Kapur Barus (Cinnamomum Camphora) Menurut Perspektif Islam dan Budaya Masyarakat Melayu Abad ke 19m

Nowadays, Camphor (Cinnamomum Camphora) and its' benefits from various aspects of life has been explained scientifically by scholars. Interestingly, Camphor is reported as one of the major trading commodities and is a backbone of Islamic development in the early 14th century in the archipelago. This study seeks to achieve three main objectives: i) examining Quran and Prophetic Tradition's perspective on Camphor and its' relationship with the archipelago community, and ii) studying the local wisdom of Malay people related to Camphor inside Malay medical manuscripts, and iii) analyzing the benefits of Camphor according to scientific research. To achieve these three objectives, the authors extract data from Quranic verses and hadiths related to Camphor. Subsequently, local wisdom regarding the use of camphor is generated from Malay medical manuscripts. All of these sources are analyzed through a comprehensive study to present a deep understanding. The study found that camphor mixed with other herbs to treat illnesses has been practised long ago by the Malay community, especially in the 19th century, and this is in line with Islamic practices that showed the efficacy of camphor.

Kemahiran Berfikir Aras Tinggi Melalui Pendekatan Tadzakkur

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) is a necessity for teachers and students today. But, HOTS applications often referred to the western worldview. However, studies had shown some elements found in the Qur'an that can lead to the HOTS approach and one of them is tadzakkur. Tadzakkur is a very proximate element to an Islamic Education teacher (IET) and becomes a practice in IET’s teaching. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to introduce a tadzakkur approach which should be addressed by the teachers especially IETs. Using a qualitative method through document analysis, some papers, articles and books were analysed. The findings showed that tadzakkur approach is a very relevant and appropriate approach and must be implemented seriously by IETs to produce the rabbani and ta'dib generation.

Zainab Al-Ghazali: Sejarah Kebangkitan Mujahidah Islam di Mesir

Zainab al-Ghazali was one of the utmost female figure fighters in the contemporary Islamic history. She was the founder of Muslim Women Association (MWA) of ‘Jama’at al-Sayyidat al-Muslima’ and the driving force behind Muslimah Akhwat Association. The rallying call of her struggle was to spread Islamic knowledge towards Muslim women, instilling them of their rights and responsibilities, imparting a wave of change on them in line with the teaching of al-Quran and sunnah. This paper intends to discuss her dedication to fight and elevate the status of Muslim women in the field of education, social, politics, as well as economy in Egypt. This research employs qualitative method by analyzing data descriptively. The result showed that her enlightenment had greatly impacted a massive number of women in Egypt to rise up to defend and to fight for their rights. Her personality, bravery, and intellectual have succeeded in uplifting the hierarchy of women in the world of da’wah and Islamic politics and successfully warded off conventional prejudice towards women’s leadership in society. In a strict sense, her battle was truly exemplary and could be used as a point of reference for Muslim women in facing plight in a best manner.

The rallying call of her struggle was to spread Islamic knowledge towards Muslim women, instilling them of their rights and responsibilities, imparting a wave of change on them in line with the teaching of al-Quran and sunnah. This paper intends to discuss her dedication to fight and elevate the status of Muslim women in the field of education, social, politics, as well as economy in Egypt. This research employs qualitative method by analyzing data descriptively. The result showed that her enlightenment had greatly impacted a massive number of women in Egypt to rise up to defend and to fight for their rights. Her personality, bravery, and intellectual have succeeded in uplifting the hierarchy of women in the world of da’wah and Islamic politics and successfully warded off conventional prejudice towards women’s leadership in society. This article analyses Imam al-Ghazali’s theory of the balance observance of ibadah (devotional acts or good deeds) among Muslims. Performing ‘ibadah, is part and parcel of the Muslims’ life. Nevertheless, the majority of Muslims—scholars and the public alike—place great emphasis only on the diligent outward performance of devotional acts, and on the observance of the outward requirements. However, Imam al-Ghazali goes beyond this normative practice, arguing that a mere outward observance of devotional acts is still insufficient, and indeed is still at risk. This article is theoretical in nature, and it involves bibliographic research, employing descriptive and analytic methods. The article founds that Imam al-Ghazali maintains devotional acts consist of outward and inward dimensions, and both need to be observed simultaneously and kept in balance. It is only through this balance observance that devotional acts will be transformed from mere physical motions of pure ritualistic observance to spiritually rich deeds, filled with real understanding, wisdom, and realisation.

Integration of Knowledge: A Time Befitting Step 知识整合:与时俱进的一步

This research aims to demonstrate that in the contemporary world, secular philosophical thought seized not only the Western education system but also that of Muslim World. The Western materialist thoughts are mostly originated from empiricism, rationalism, secularism and many more tenets as such. Hence, their such speculation distanced them from the guidance of Allah (SWT); eventually, many sorts of rebellious actions prevailed in their perceptions, policies of society and state. Conversely, Islamic epistemology is different. It creates connection between all sources of knowledge and revelation. The purpose of this study is to display the moral failure of secular education system and dire necessary of integrated education and its swift expansion, especially for Muslims across the Islamic world. The study has followed the qualitative methodology through an intensive study mainly the secondary data like the previously published original books, articles, periodicals, magazines and online lectures of specialists and experts on integration of knowledge. The findings of the research are installing Islamic worldview in mindset of Muslim students, producing innovative dynamic leadership for each sector, launching same education system and joint research project for OIC member states, nurturing thinking mind of students, making people employable, expanding exchange program, revitalizing higher education and building relationship between universities and industries.

This study is an attempt to know the view of Rashid Rida through his book Al Manar about the concept of Islamic State. The Islamic State passed through a long and different stages from the Prophetic era, the four Caliphates, the two Dynasties Umayyad and Abbasid and the Ottoman Caliphate before its collapse. This long mix stages between strengths and weaknesses ended by the collapse of Ottoman Caliphate. Rashid Rida, tried hard to save in his capacity the Ottoman Caliphate but failed, he then indirectly describe it in many occasions with some descriptions which show that he was not satisfied with the State for some political and social reasons. The method upon which the study is based is inductive method. The researchers elaborated in the study the concept of Islamic state from Rashid Rida perspective from his Tafsir al- Manar. And among the findings of the study is that, as a scholar we should know that unity of the state is the solid ground of the implimentation of the rule of Allah, therefore it should always be the priority of the time.   Key words: Islamic State, Ottoman Caliphate, judgement.       الملخص تحاول الدراسة استنطاق السيد رشيد رضا من خلال تفسيره المنار لمعرفة فكره حول مفهوم الدولة الإسلامية،  فالحكم بكتاب الله هو الصِّبغة التي تُزيِّل الدولة الإسلامية عن غيرها من الدُّوَل ، وقد مرَّت الدولة الإسلامية من عصر النبوة مارة بالخلافة الراشدة و الدولتين الأموية والعباسية والدولة العثمانية قبل سقوطها مراحل كثيرة مختلفة بين القوة والضعف، إلا أن أضعف تلك المراحل الطويلة كانت في عصر السيد رشيد رضا الذي حاول جاهداً انقاذها إلا أنه لم يوفق في ذلك، فكان يصف الدولة العثمانية حين كانت تتنفَّس آخر أنفاسها تلميحاً لا تصريحاً بأوصاف يُفهم منها أنّه لم يكن راض عنها لأسباب سياسية واجتماعية. وقد اعتمد الباحثون في دراستهم المنهج الاستقرائي في تحليل أفكار رشيد رضا حول مفهوم الدولة الاسلامية والفرق بينها وبين غيرها من الدول. ومن أهم النتائج التي خلصت إليها الدراسة هي أن على الداعي معرفة أولية في المواقف وتقديمها على غيرها، فالحكم بما أنزل الله مهم ولكن بفقدان أرضيتها التي هي وحدة الصف الداخلي، يؤجل تطبيقه لتوحيد الصف الداخلي.   كلمات افتتاحية: الدولة الإسلامية، الدولة العثمانية، الحكم.
