The face of a news room in India has been changed radically with the ever growing popularity of social media, where it sets agenda for the news organizations to follow. The #Lalitgate is a classical example, where the Ex IPL Commissioner, Lalit Modi, who has gained a notorious image due to his controversies, broke news on twitter, from there it has been picked up by 24x7 news channels, subsequently online portals do a piece on it, again there is a prime time discussion on that news, followed by a morning coverage by the news papers. As a person gain ability to create sensationalism, he utilizes the ability of social media to create some dialogues, with a larger worldwide audience, which was earlier not possible due to the monologue approach of traditional media. The ability of that piece of information to get retweeted by followers allows it to trend high on twitter. As the number become astonishing some time, it automatically qualifies for the attention of the editors of media organizations and eventually sets the agenda of the day. The social media platforms; Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp etc. have become the essential tool of news gathering of a modern news room. Twitter with its 302 million followers worldwide, eventually became a credible online source of news gathering as the tweets are usually came through a first person, citing his/her views or, opinion on a subject matter. This research paper aims to critically analyze the role of twitter as an agenda setting tool in #Lalitgate, where, the cricket administrator turned whistleblower, Lalit Modi, used twitter effectively for his revelations, and he not only trolled successfully on twitter but news media as well. The scope of this paper is limited to the media coverage by English medium news channels and papers only.

The principle of net neutrality has gained much attention since 2006 and again in 2015 in India when Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released its consultation paper in which it invited public opinions with regard to the regulation of free availability and access of content (text, voice and media) on internet by various service providers. The topic gained much attention when the established telecom corporations started suggesting that they should be paid by the internet content providers like Facebook, You tube, Google etc, for providing them the network for reaching the masses. Telecom companies argue that the internet content providers have been making high profits from low investments while they are the ones to have made high investments in building the infrastructure for these service providers to operate, due to which the internet service providers should share their revenues with the telecom companies. The violation of net neutrality will take place if any kind of discrimination takes place in terms of providing any type of data to the consumers. This means their very right to free access to information from internet will be violated. Violation of net neutrality has generated much uproar around the world since telecom corporations like Airtel demanded that telecom companies like Airtel should be paid by the content providers like Google, Facebook, Amazon etc for letting them display their content on internet to the mass consumers and generating huge profits. This violation means that differential pricing is likely to be practiced by the telecom firms in terms of charging both the internet service providers and consumers. Currently there are no laws in India which govern net neutrality which means the content available on internet can be accessed by anybody without any kind of discrimination. This study seeks to fulfill the knowledge gap by empirically analyzing the various cross sections of the society which are bound to get affected by the violation of net neutrality.

Face book profile image provides ample opportunity to the FB users to portray a visual self-presentation within this social networking circle. Profile images play a vital role to establish an impression on the other users’ mind, particularly when each online friend may not be known to the other. Existing research reveals multiple aspects of FB users’ intention, attitude and approach towards the profileimages, such as frequency of change by the young FB users, the triggers for change of profile images, and the difference in approach according to gender. Drawing on the theoretical perspective of impression management and other relevant theories, the present study will explore the role of profile pictures in influencing the perception of other FB users in the Indian context. The study uses the tools of content analysis and survey to address the research questions.

The 1995 landmark judgment of Supreme Courtdeclaring air waves as public property brought private players into the business of broadcasting. Globalization and Economic liberalization brought in foreign players into the Indian television industry, leading to proliferation in the number of English, Hindi and other vernacular channels. Cut throat competition gave way to the ‘nation wants to know’ style of high pitch polarized debates, heated arguments and sensational stories, replacing the yester year style of straight forward television news presentation. Terms like ‘Breaking News’, Flash’, or ‘Exclusive’ have lost their sanctity today. In the present era of hash tag revolution, Prosumers (a discursive word coined to denote the online users who are both producers and consumers of news) are gradually replacing mere consumers. News reporting and consumption have become instantaneous as never before due to smart phone and 4G revolution. Given such competition from cyber media, TV news presentation style has become more pressing, dramatic, research based, experimental, dynamic and many a times opinionated as well. The paper strives to analyze the changes in News presentation style in Indian TV news channels and studies the television viewing patterns of the people in Jaipur city.

Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is also known as Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR). Automatic Number Plate Recognition or ANPR is a technology that uses pattern recognition to ‘read’ vehicle number plates. The design of ANPR systems is a field of research in artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. The main goal of this paper is to study algorithmic and mathematical principles of automatic number plate recognition systems. ANPR can be used to store the images captured by the cameras as well as the text from the number plate and using mathematical morphology methods to detect the edges of the rectangular plate. Mathematical morphology is a part of digital image processing which is concerned with image filtering and geometric analysis by using structuring elements (SE).

Kashmir valley over the years witnessed a huge socio-political change which has not just affected the people living there but the industries also. Bollywood is one such industry which was badly affected by the disturbances in the valley. The films made before 1990s and after that, have a lot of differences’ not just in terms of number of films made per year but thematic difference as well. A sudden change was seen in films made on Kashmir after 1990s where terrorism and related issues dominated the subject of such films. The research paper tried to look into the subject of films made after the revolt started in the valley, besides, the portrayal of Kashmir issue in such films.

The popularity of the supply chain concept emanates because of quality management. Quality management practices in supply chain contribute to quality offerings, overall firm performance, cost reduction and ultimately for competitive advantage. The paper empirically and analytically investigates the relationship between total quality management and supply chain performance. The primary data for the study were collected from 44 managers of small manufacturing firms, 74 wholesalers and 120 retailers in district Udhampur of JandK State. The data after purification and validation through factor analysis were subjected to multivariate tools. The results of Chi-square test, hierarchal regression model and correlation matrix revealed positive association between total quality management and supply chain operational efficiency, overall supply chain performance as predictor of quality management and existence of direct relationship between TQM and supply chain performance. The study emphasized that proper implementation of TQM programs could play a major role in developing an integrated organisation through teamwork, cordial relationship, training and education, cultural change and customer focus across the supply chain.

Any election in a democratic nation like India is hugely influenced by the numerous demographic factors. Age is definitely one of them. In no other election the impact of the same was more prominent than the last lok sabha election. Around 150 million people, aged 18-23 years were qualified to vote for the first time. Such a huge number is equivalent to the voting population of many European nations. Naturally, they were touted to be the game-changers in this regard and the final tally only confirmed that. Prior to the election, it was found that, on an average, 1.79 lakh new voters were to be added to each of the 543 constituencies across the country. Approximately 24 percent of them, or 43,000 were to be first-timer voters. To gauge the significance of the same and put into perspective, the 2009 lok sabha election, predecessor to the last election, witnessed a winning margin of less than this in 226 of the constituencies which went into the election. This research paper would delve upon the interesting aspects related to the same and would analyze the role that youth played in the general election, the influence they wielded on the performance of each of the two major parties and candidates. The youth voted like never before in the history of Indian politics. It would highlight the uniqueness of this election as compared to other elections in the Indian political history with regard to one of the most significant demographic factors.
