Bruxism is a condition characterized by excessive grinding and clenching of teeth especially during sleep, but symptoms can also occur during the day. Bruxism causes fatigue, feelings of sleeplessness, increased muscle tension and pain in the chewing muscle area. Despite its high prevalence in the adult population (it is believed to occur in up to one-third of people), we do not know the exact path of mechanism behind the disease, and treatment methods are not clearly defined. Treatment methods used include drug therapies, biofeedback, kinesitherapy, physiotherapy, intramuscular and intra-articular injections, psychological therapy, and treatment with intraoral devices. In addition, the exact diagnostic pathway and the way how to classify the severity of bruxism symptoms have not been determined. There is still no answer to the question of what procedure to introduce in a patient who is experiencing symptoms of bruxism despite full dental rehabilitation. The age at which treatment should begin also remains unclear. Further research is needed on the etiology of bruxism, as well as the development of uniform recommendations for diagnosis and therapy.

There are risks in every construction project, uncontrolled risks will become a problem and cause losses to the project due to cost overruns and delays in work execution. Therefore, to manage risk, it is necessary to carry out risk management so that the project can survive, or perhaps optimize risk. The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant risk factors, how big the level of risk that occurred and the response given to the dominant risks of cost and time performance in the structural work of the Grand Jati Junction Apartment Development project. From the results of this study, it was found that 8 factors became the dominant risk factors with varying (different) levels depending on the complexity of the work and the conditions at the time of implementation of each stage of the work. Then from the results of the risk factor analysis, a risk response is obtained in the form of preventive measures to prevent or minimize these risks. Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a significant public health concern affecting individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM). Despite treatment advances, a substantial proportion of patients do not respond adequately. This study investigates risk factors associated with the progression of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) in type-2 diabetes patients. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted on diabetic patients older than 40 years with at least 5 years of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus history, attending ophthalmology clinic in Government Medical College, Thrissur, a tertiary care hospital. Data from patients with retinal examination showing diabetic retinopathy were analyzed. Records with missing data were excluded. Patients with Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (n=153) were compared with those having Non- Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (n=230). Various risk factors were assessed using statistical analysis. Results: Among the studied variables, sex, duration of diabetes, serum urea, serum creatinine, serum triglycerides, and chronic kidney disease were significantly different between Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy and Non-Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy patients. Binary logistic regression revealed that duration of diabetes (OR = 1.8, 95% CI = 1.1 - 2.39) and serum creatinine (OR =1.8, 95% CI = 1.1 - 2.39) independently influenced Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy development. Conclusion: This study highlights that longer diabetes duration and elevated serum creatinine levels independently increase the risk of Non- Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy progressing to Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy in type-2 diabetic patients. Other factors such as age, gender, hyperlipidemia, systemic hypertension, type of diabetic treatment, and history of ischemic heart disease did not show significant associations with disease progression. These findings emphasize the importance of close monitoring, early detection, and intervention in patients with Non- Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy, particularly those with a longer diabetic history, to prevent Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy development. Further research should explore the causal relationship between serum creatinine and diabetic retinopathy progression and evaluate the impact of renal disease management on disease outcomes.

Recent scientific findings indicate that hypertension is a largely genetically driven condition; one of today’s leading global health issues. There are many identified gene mutations associated with different aspects involving blood pressure control that lead to hypertension. More recently, certain specific genetic variants related to blood pressure control have been found using the modern techniques of genetic analysis that may assist in developing custom strategies to prevent and treat hypertension. The aim of this article is to highlight genetic aspects of hypertension and use them to establish individual therapy. It looks at the influence of genetic diversity on sodium resorption, skeletal muscle contraction, and drug pharmacokinetics. These studies indicate that GWAS has identified some genetic variants for hypertension and developed some genetic risk score (GRS) which can be used for prediction purpose. Therefore, genetic contribution is significant in establishing as well as sustaining high blood pressure. Knowledge about genetics regarding hypertension may change the way it is addressed on a person-by-person basis. Nevertheless, research needs to tackle the challenge of validating associations among diverse populations while developing a mechanism for translating genetic findings into clinical practice. Thus, we would enhance preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic measures for many people globally. Keywords: Hypertension; Genetic factors; Blood pressure regulation; Genome-wide association studies (GWAS); Personalized medicine approaches.

Background: Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is the formation of a thrombus in deep veins, often observed in stroke patients due to immobilization and infection during hospitalization. High D-dimer levels are associated with DVT in stroke patients. This study aims to evaluate the association between D-dimer levels as a diagnostic tool for DVT in acute ischemic stroke patients. Methods: This cross-sectional, retrospective study was conducted from May to August 2023. The study was carried out on acute ischemic stroke patients at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan, using consecutive sampling. Doppler ultrasound was used as the gold standard, and D-dimer data were analyzed using the SPSS program, employing the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. Results: Of the 49 patients, 35 met the inclusion criteria. Among the patients, 24 (68.6%) were male, 23 (65.7%) were over 50 years old, and 30 (85.7%) had a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18-24.9. The mean D-dimer value was 2153.43 (±1506.88) ng/mL. All 21 (100%) DVT cases were asymptomatic. According to the Well's score, 15 patients scored 1 (42.8%), 20 patients (57.2%) scored 2, and the probability of DVT is in the moderate range for all 35 patients. The Fisher's Exact Test yielded a p-value of 0.028 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between D-dimer levels and the incidence of DVT in patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke. Hyperglycaemia is a clinical indicator of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes is associated with damage to organ systems, such as kidney damage, eyes, nerves, and blood vessels, and even death through oxidative stress processes, resulting in an imbalance between antioxidants and free radicals. One of the plants that contain antioxidants is Moringa Oleifera (MO), MO has been utilized as a food source material. This plant has low toxicity, natural antioxidants, and important bioactive phytochemicals and is an excellent source of alternative natural therapies to synthetic drugs. Exogenous antioxidants in Moringa leaves may have potential as free radical scavengers. Studies published between 2017 and 2023 were systematically reviewed through identification in Research Gate, Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases. Studies that met the inclusion criteria were included for review. The results of the literature review of the articles carried out can be concluded that the administration of moringa leaf extract is able to reduce blood sugar levels, reduce MDA levels and increase antioxidants in the body, such as Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px).
