The article is devoted to the reflection of the theme of dreams in Sufi writings, mainly manakibs (Lives of Saints), relating to the Middle-Age Transoxiana. Sufism is the earliest form of the spread of the Islamic faith in the world. Sufism has absorbed both some elements of the Qur'anic teachings, and many popular beliefs associated with the belief in supernatural forces. Sufis are people who dedicated their lives to the knowledge of God through various spiritual practices, one of which is, for example, the interpretation of dreams. In these dreams there are various images that are interpreted as flukes of providence, for example, appearing Saint Khidr (or Khoja Khizr) in a dream, who is considered as absolute authority and patron of the Sufis, and who is the bearer of the moral principle; he supports and guides people on the path of virtue. On the opposite side there is the genies community, which is “hostile” towards the Sufi community. Moreover, many Sufi authorities interpreted their presence in dreams or in reality as “good” or “bad” omens. Constant presence of such theme in Muslim hagiographic writings reflects the complex and specific worldview of Sufism. Some historical and Muslim hagiographic works (manakibs) of the late Medieval Transoxiana became the source base of our work. They contain numerous hagiographic episodes that tell us of such unusual phenomena in the life of Sufis. The subject of this article is the study of the dreaming spiritual practice of the Sufis. The purpose of the research is to study the phenomenon of dreams and its significance in Sufism, to consider the place and meaning of such an important hagiographic character as Khoja Khizra and such creatures as jinn in the Sufi’s worldview. The novelty of this work lies in the introduction of new information contained in the Lives of Muslim Saints of Transoxiana in the 16th century.

The article continues the thematic cycle of author’s publications providing some information about a previously unknown direction of the activity of the Nerchinsk Monastery of Holy Dormition – a penitentiary one. This monastery, being a remote one in the Russian empire, was used as a place of exile and imprisonment for unwelcome clergy throughout the 18th century. The author carried out a comprehensive analysis of a small group of prisoners banished to Siberia, which included high-ranking hierarchs who previously belonged to the leadership of the supreme body of the church-state administration of the ROC.

The article provides a semantic, functional and structural analysis of the autobiographies of modern Buryat shamans in order to determine stable elements and functions, which can later help in determining the relationship between tradition and innovation in shamanism. The article is based on the author's field material collected in August 2021 in Ulan-Ude in the local religious organization of shamans “Tengeri”. A semi-structured interview method was used in the survey. The field research data are compared with the results of the analysis of the autobiographies of the Nganasan shamans, given in the article by O. B. Khristoforova. In the course of the study, it was revealed that the narratives of modern Buryat shamans are rather spontaneous arguments of interlocutors (in response to the researcher's questions), rather than stable established stories. Nevertheless, elements of traditional shamanic folklore can be found in the autobiographies of modern shamans: narratives about shamanic illness and election. These two motives act as some kind of identification marker of belonging to the tradition (the function of substantiating the truth of the shamanic gift), which is important for modern shamans. However, we can notice that the function of “interpretation of psychophysiological states” is weakened due to the formation of a shaman in a different socio-cultural context, and the description of visions during shamanic illness is either absent or taboo. New motives are highlighted in the autobiographies of our respondents: “the search for a solution to the crisis”, “shamans of the Soviet period” and “changing lives”. These motifs can be attributed to the elements of innovations that complement and develop traditional plots.

The relevance of the study is due to the study of the Russian model of interfaith relations, the evolution of which occurred as a result of the socio-cultural development of Russian society in the 18th – early 20th centuries. The article shows a range of theological and philosophical views of Muslim theologians to the heterodox environment, which is reflected not only in legal issues but also in the issues of confessional exclusivity. At the same time, the position of the majority of Muslim theologians should be primarily considered not as a manifestation of religious intolerance but as an attempt to consider these relations in a scientific focus.

The main issue for discussion at the round table was the current state of the religious situation in the Lower Volga region (Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov regions) and the technology of stabilization of ethno-confessional relations. The article deals with the problems of ensuring religious security, particularly the identification of religious extremist sentiments, interconfessional tensions in the Lower Volga region. As the mechanisms of stabilization the speakers highlighted the increasing role of national and cultural autonomies of the Lower Volga region in the stabilization of national and religious relations. The materials also present scientific and practical recommendations to the state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to minimize socio-religious risks.

The article examines the religious features of the Alawite religion and briefly describes the religious situation in Iran in the 3rd – 9th centuries. By the comparative characteristic of religious and political currents in Iran in the 9th century the author has come to the conclusion that the ancestral home of the Alawites was the land of Caucasian Albania or Arran. The above conclusions are supported by the ethnic factor as the political activity of ethnic groups and the territories they occupy in Iran. In addition, the author considers other factors that confirm the correctness of determining the origin lands of the Alawite tribes.

The publication discusses the foundations of the methodological model that was used in the preparation of the monograph “Mental studies of global political worlds” [41]. The text contains three main relatively independent sections. In the first one, the author presents his understanding of the phenomenon of mentality and the methodological model of its political and psychological research. Here we are talking about the content and internal organization of the mental research model, the principles of its construction, functions and methodological resource. The second paragraph reveals the heuristic potential of the dogmatic principle, its methodological and ontological significance. The last part is devoted to identifying the historical foundations of the phenomenon of subjectivity and the concept of the fundamental subjective triad. Summarizing, the author formulates the thesis that the methodological basis for the study of the mentality of political worlds is the trinity of the principle of historicism, the dogmatic principle and the principle of subjectivity.
