The effects of foreign direct investment on the performance of small-medium enterprises: The case of Vietnam 外商直接投资对中小企业绩效的影响:以越南为例

Foreign direct investment (FDI) is one of the most important elements influencing countries' international economic integration. FDI establishes direct, consistent, and long-lasting interconnections between economies as well as encouraging innovative technology and know-how transmission across territories while allowing host economies to offer their goods more extensively on global markets. FDI is also a source of investment financing that creates the climate for appropriate policies. Aside from the obvious advantages for all economic sectors, attracting FDI in small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) has a variety of additional benefits. For example, an opportunity to participate in the global supply chain for parts and components; an opportunity not yet wholly established in most developing nations but is critical for industrialization and improving income distribution through job creation for low-skilled employees. This study compared the impact of FDI on the performance of SMEs in Vietnam to that of a group of ASEAN nations with comparable economic structures including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The empirical evidence indicates that FDI has a negative effect on the performance of SMEs in the group of four ASEAN member countries while having a positive influence on Vietnamese SMEs.

Models for assessing crisis dynamics in disparities of Ukraine’s regional economy to ensure the economic security of regions 评估乌克兰区域经济差异中的危机动态模型,以确保各区域的经济安全

The increase in the unevenness of indicators of regional socio-economic development in Ukraine is causing changes in regional economic security, in addition to the deterioration of national welfare. Therefore, there is a need to develop new theoretical and practical approaches for assessing such disparities and forecasting their dynamics. In this article, a toolkit for modelling crises and catastrophes in disparities of regional development is presented, using the example of Ukraine. The purpose of this study is to create models that assess the crisis dynamics in regional disparities in Ukraine, in order to develop tools for ensuring economic security in the region. To achieve this purpose, the following tasks have been identified: to evaluate convergent-divergent processes and the long-term interaction of regional disparity indicators; to simulate possible crises and catastrophes in various spheres of socio-economic development of regions according to the levels of their disparities; and to demonstrate the mutual dependence between disparities of the regions and levels of their economic security. The result of the crisis dynamic assessment is a set of predictive models of possible catastrophes that may occur in Ukraine's regions. This allows for obtaining reliable results for the qualitative analysis of stability factors of disparities in the socio-economic system, accounting for different time intervals that determine the peculiarities of the country's development. The array of constructed models is an effective tool for researching crisis processes in the dynamics of disparity indicators, as they allow for identifying and more thoroughly investigating non-linear cyclical processes in regional economic development, as well as predicting changes in levels of economic security. Such a toolkit allows for the development of a strategy for balanced regional and country development, and for ensuring regional economic security.

Determinants of Indonesia’s shrimp commodity export 印尼虾类商品出口的决定因素

For the last decade, Indonesia has exhibited enormous fishery potential, especially in shrimp commodities, in terms of quantity, export value, and annual production. In Indonesia, shrimp is the commodity with the highest number of transactions compared to other fishery commodities. This research on the factors of Indonesian shrimp exports can be used as a reference and provide more detailed information useful for the government and Indonesian shrimp exporters. Panel data regression analysis and the gravity model were used to obtain the best REM model using GLS. Research results indicated that the GDP per capita of the importing country, distance, and the population of the importing country significantly influenced the export value of Indonesian shrimp. At the same time, the exchange rate was an insignificant variable. Therefore, to increase Indonesia's shrimp export potential, the government and Indonesian shrimp exporters must consider to the importing country's GDP per capita and the selection of partner countries.

Is flexibility a dual mechanism? Evidence from the Hungarian food industry 灵活性是一种双重机制吗?来自匈牙利食品工业的证据

There is a body of evidence that flexibility as a mechanism can help to increase a company’s performance when an unexpected situation occurs. The food industry is considered one of the best industries and the performance of food industry undertakings accounts for 2.2% of Hungarian GDP. Food companies make up the third-largest manufacturing sector in Hungary. This study aims, therefore, to investigate the impact of operational flexibility on the performance of the Hungarian food industry by considering environmental uncertainty as a moderator. The research is cross-sectional. A customized questionnaire was used to obtain primary data. The questionnaires were distributed to a purposive group of managers, and there were 301 valid replies for statistical analysis. The findings revealed that operational flexibility has a beneficial impact on company success, while uncertainties in supply and demand do not have an effect on this link.

Mongolia’s “The Steppe Road” plan and China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor 蒙古国的“草原之路”计划和中蒙俄经济走廊

In this article on China’s “Belt and Road” and Mongolia’s “Steppe Road” initiative; the establishment and realization of trilateral cooperation between China, Mongolia and Russia, or the “China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor”; natural and historical factors andthe main purpose of the initiative and strategy proposed by Mongolia will be presented. The next issue will touch on the way to implement China-Mongolia strategic partnership and its development prospects. Within the framework of the principle of “Three sides are one whole and move forward together” put up by the Chinese government, Mongolia proposed a specific plan for cooperation in the areas of developing Eurasian transit traffic, implementing measures to support maritime exports, developing mineral resources, creating infrastructure, and strengthening financial cooperation. In the end, the author will state about the optimalities of trilateral cooperation between China, Mongolia, and Russia.The article states the fact that the “Steppe Road” of Mongolia, originated as a concept of the natural history of mankind in the northern part is not a completely new thing for social and historical researchers, but in terms of the content of the new plan of the “Silk Road Economic Zone”. It is necessary to understand in detail that various operating conditions support the implementation of the “Belt and Road” under the abovementioned initiative such as building large-scale cooperation at the regional level, reaching consensus on implementing the cooperation, and setting the cooperation levers as well as interactions among working groups.Монгол Улсын “Талын зам” ба “Хятад-Монгол-Орос гурван улсын эдийн засгийн коридор”Хятад хэлнээс орчуулсан: Н.Ганбат Доктор (Ph.D)

The U.S. policy towards Central Asia 美国的中亚政策

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the United States launched military operations and deployed its troops in Afghanistan. In August 2021, the United States withdrew the last of its troops from Afghanistan, ending its military presence there after nearly 20 years, a result of the “Agreement for Bringing Peace for Afghanistan” signed with the Taliban. According to expectations by the experts whose eyes are on Central Asia, the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan would bring some changes to the U.S. policy towards the region which is close to Afghanistan. However, the U.S. has to focus on the European theatre, as Russia launched a “special operation” in Ukraine by justifying its action as a “crusade” against neo-Nazis. Russia’s military actions have forced Washington to shift its attention to transatlantic security, leaving a vacuum in Central Asia to be filled by Russia and China.In the first part of the article, the author seeks to analyze the geopolitical importance of Central Asia and the competition of great powers to expand their influence in the region. As stated in the Constitution of the United States, as the Chief Executive, the president has the authority in shaping the foreign policy of the country, so the second part of the article is for the discussion of the U.S. presidents’ policies toward Central Asia. At the end of the article, as a researcher, the author seeks to share her take on the possible changes in Washington’s policy in Central Asia with respect to President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw U.S troops from Afghanistan.Төв Азид чиглэсэн АНУ-ын бодлогоХураангуй: Есдүгээр сарын 11-ний террорист халдлагын дараа АНУ цэргийн ажиллагаа явуулж, Афганистанд цэргээ байрлуулсанТалибуудтай байгуулсан “Афганистанд энхийн гэрээний”-ний үр дүнд 2021 оны наймдугаар сард АНУ Афганистанаас сүүлчийн цэргээ гаргаж, 20 орчим жилийн дараа цэргээ гаргасан юм. Mongolia and regional cooperation organizations: Opportunities and risks 蒙古与区域合作组织:机遇与风险

This article describes the reasons for the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union in some countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States that were part of the former Soviet Union, their goals, nature and implementation of mechanisms. There are written conflicts of interest arising between the main member countries during the implementation of cooperation within the framework of these two associations, as well as the desire of neighboring countries to admit Mongolia to these two associations. The Eurasian Economic Union considers free trade agreements as a new trade policy tool for relations with third countries and is establishing free trade agreements with some countries in the framework of WTO rules and regulations. In addition, an attempt has been made to conclude on the opportunities, weaknesses, and risks of Mongolia not joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. The researcher wrote his opinions and conclusions about the importance of maintaining the position of an observer in Mongolia without joining these two regional organizations.
