The paper describes a platform-independent server of remote educational services based on the usage of Internet technologies and includes the following components. Firstly, the database contains: documentation; educational schedules; registration data; statistics; and a rating. The knowledge base contains: the educational programs of training; the tests; check programs; the lectures; the literature on the curriculum; and Internet reference. The supervision of training includes: check of the test and check jobs (definitions) with usage of semantic algorithms estimation quality answers; a complex rating. The self-learning retrieval system includes: with temporary limitation (continuous search, search about the defined day, month, year); with limitation on size; selection with the analysis of the seen (overlooked) documents; search with usage of the previous searches. The information protection system involves a system of passwords with limited access to the information (at a level of the user, user group and administrator).

In activity influence of various aerodynamic devices on flow pattern of a production lorry of the corporation KAMA3 (Russia) experimentally is researched. The experiments were conducted in an aerodynamic pipe T-503 NSTU on a scale model 1:lO. The flow patterns, field of velocities and their oscillations in a neighbourhood of model are obtained at presence and absence of various superimposed aerodynamic units. Is shown, that at symmetrical flow around the installation of fairings on a roof of a cabin and lateral doors essentially reduces of width of boundary layers, intensity of a vorticity in them, and general force of resistance of air.

The fieldbus systems in centralized or distributed control systems have been widely used in the area of industrial automation for several years. Among those fieldbus systems, the LonWorks/sup TM/ is becoming regarded as a new promising way to implement the industrial network systems. The LonWorks is a universal control network system developed by Echelon Co. in 1990. In this paper, we introduce a distributed control system for industrial applications based on LonWorks technology and propose the rate-based traffic control of industrial control networks employing LonWorks. The LonWorks network systems is composed of a network node called a LonPoint containing Neuron Chip. Each LonPoint communicate based on LonTalk protocol which is a kind of CSMA/CA protocol. Throughout this paper, we implement the lab-scale LonWorks network system and synthesize a rate-based traffic controller. Basically, the proposed rate-based traffic control system is in closed-loop by utilizing the feedback channel errors, which shows improved performance compared with other industrial control networks commonly operated in open-loop. To this end, an additional network node, called monitoring node, is introduced to check the channel status without increasing the channel load. We demonstrate the improved performance of the controlled network system in view of throughput and fairness measures through the experimentation upon it.

In this paper, we propose a slip-ratio control of ABS using sliding mode control. The main control objective of ABS is to increase wheel tractive forces, which is conventionally done by controlling the wheel slip ratio around the peak of the /spl mu/-/spl lambda/ curve of the tractive forces during ABS maneuvers. Difficulties in designing an ABS controller are due to the nonlinear characteristics, the time-varying nature of the system components, and the unknown environmental parameters. In this paper, we apply a sliding mode control scheme to the ABS because it can give a robustness by invariance characteristic and order reduction, and the control scheme is verified through the several numerical simulations with Matlab/Simulink.

The conditions of ceramic nanopowder compaction essentially influence the quality and properties of sintered ceramics. Methods for determination of important parameters of nanopowder dry compaction with regard to powder body elastic properties are presented for the following parameters: powder body elastic modulus and sound velocity; Poisson ratio; coefficients of internal friction, wall friction, lateral pressure; elastic aftereffect in height and diameter; density uniformity; green compact quality parameter. The influence of ultrasound action of different power on these characteristics is shown. The experimental dependences of the compaction parameters of ZrO/sub 2/-Y/sub 2/O/sub 3/ nanopowder on compaction pressure, ultrasound power are analysed. Conclusions about the effective range of nanopowder ultrasonic compaction are obtained.

This article presents the results of investigations of deformation development patterns at the surface of loaded Ni/sub 63/Al/sub 37/ alloy specimens performed using the television-optical meter for surface characterization. The common pattern of deformation development with regard to strain peculiarities in the surface layer and in the bulk of the loaded specimens is discussed.

With the increasing use of the Internet and electronic commerce it is an important task to transform the paper-made technical manual into digitalized and networked version. With the advent of new multimedia technology and the omnipresence of network facilities, this trend is compelling. The technology of compiling, storing and generating text data, graphics and images makes the IETM (interactive electronic technical manual) attractive with respect to the paper-made technical manuals. In the fields of manufacturing and maintenance of airplanes, ships, military weapons, automobiles and heavy cranes one can save enormous costs and time by utilizing the IETM. The digitalized technical manual makes it easy to copy and transfer its contents and it is unnecessary to hold a warehouse and transportation for technical manuals. By utilizing the database technology developed for storing and searching a large amount of data it is unnecessary to search data by page or sequentially. Through the hypermedia function developed with the Internet we can move the search point between the data freely according to the requirement and the level of the users. Since the insertion, storage, and reference of the images, audio and video data can be done freely the quality of technical manual could be enhanced. While the technical manual shows the chart, diagram, and graphs statically, the IETM shows the operation of instruments and the operation of maintenance dynamically. Further if the user accesses the IETM through the network, he can obtain technical education interactively from the IETM manufacturer. In recent IETMs, users can order the required components through the IETM. In this paper we developed a prototype of IETM which can input the contents of manual freely, classify the index of contents automatically, and generate the index/keyword automatically.

The purpose of this study is to find out the new architectural characteristics of the settlements and dwellings of Bronze Age in Korea, based on the excavational reports in Ulsan area. Analyzing 12 cases of settlement and 109 cases of dwelling remains, I found out the new architectural characteristics as followings: 1. diversity of site selecting like hill side, seashore, and plains. 2. planning techniques of settlement like the moat, public space and building, and tomb territory. 3. development of vertical wall and division of interior space. 1. development of drainage and heating facilities. These characteristics mean the phase shifting to ground dwellings of Metal Ages from the pit house of Neolithic Ages.
