With the rapid urbanization of Beijing in recent decades, comprehensively understanding its regions' structures and functions becomes more and more challenging, though it indeed plays a fundamental role in the city planning. While fortunately, the accumulation of huge mobility records from massive individuals provides an unprecedented big-data window for solving this issue. In this paper, we segment urban areas of Beijing into administrative and functional subdivisions through mining GPS trajectories of taxis. First, a flow network between small regions is established to administratively segment the urban area and Infomap is found to be a better approach. Second, temporal features from regions' flow dynamics are extracted to functionally segment the urban area through spectral clustering, which effectively identifies regions with different functions and flow patterns. Third, the comparison of segmentation at different time can vividly represent the evolution of the city, including emergence of new regions and vanishment of aging areas. Our results demonstrate the possibility that the big-data of movements generated by massive users could provide a new but promising probe to understand the evolution of cities in both spatial and temporal dimensions.

To solve the supplier selection problem for the large equipment enterprise with incomplete information, DEMATEL is adopted to construct the connect relationship among the evaluation index sets of each candidate supplier firstly, so we can know the mutual influence among index sets. And ANP is used to calculate the weight for each index set. Considering the incomplete information fully in the globalization market environment, D-S evidence theory is used for multi-source evaluation information fusion from different decision makers. Finally, TOPSIS is adopted to make the final order of candidate suppliers and find out the most satisfying supplier. The numerical results show that the collaborative decision-making method in the paper is reasonable and has a certain reference value in the practice.

Although there is a great deal of literature focused on high-tech R&D, there is much less literature examining the whole manufacturing industry R&D and analyzing its performance. This paper addresses this short fall by focusing on the manufacturing industry in China and analysing its R&D performance. The authors use Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to evaluate 29 sectors of manufacturing in Shandong province, a region with a very competitive manufacturing system. The analysis indicates that only three of those manufacturing sectors are efficient. When efficiency was decomposed into technical and scale efficiency, there are eight sectors with HTE (High Technical Efficiency) and LSE (Low Scale Efficiency), eleven sectors with LTE (Low Technical Efficiency) and HSE (High Scale Efficiency), seven sectors with LTE (Low Technical Efficiency) and LSE (Low Scale Efficiency). The results reflect lower technological innovation capability of manufacturing R&D in China.

This paper focuses on studies of the effects of information trading on stock excess returns. We try to illustrate the information trading effect on the stock excess returns with a sample of 176 stocks on Shenzhen GEM. Using empirical tests, the results show that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between information trading and stock excess returns.

This study aimed to discuss the relationship between the local residents' religious involvement and their level of place attachment toward Dong-lung Temple in Donggang township. Questionnaires were distributed to the local residents who live in Donggang township with a simple sampling method. The results showed that a significant difference was found in the category of religious involvement to age, gender, educational background, visiting purpose, and visiting frequency. A significant difference was found in the category of place attachment to marital status, age, educational background, visiting purpose, companionship, and visiting frequency. Also, a positive correlated relationship was found between religious involvement and place attachment. In other words, the local residents would have a greater chance to understand and appreciate their folk religion in the area. As a result, they would have a better sense of belonging to the temple and its religious activities.

With the development of the economy and the expansion of market capacity, companies that launching new types of the services need to conduct enterprise location in the newly developed market to serve the customers. In order to maximize the profit, companies should balance the rent and the customer flow volume, as well as service income and customers' waiting cost, which means that the companies should choose right places to provide service. When there are some competitors, optimal service rate should be set to keep the customers staying at the company to get service. In this paper, we use queuing theory to study location problem. A location model with changing arrival rate and an operation model with changing service rate are built. We characterize the optimal policies and discuss the impact of the parameters on the optimal policies. Numerical experiments are conducted to discuss the impact of the customers' patience to the optimal service rate.

This paper develops a methodology to assess the possibility of air and rail cooperation in a corridor. A generalized travel model is adopted to find the equilibrium price of rail and air transport in studied routes, and a profit satisfaction index is calculated to determine the cooperation possibility from operators' perspective. The methodology is subsequently applied to a case involving 6 city-pairs and a high speed travel service system is designed accordingly. The general conclusions suggest that the relative location of cities, market capacity and transfer cost are key factors affecting cooperation and competition.

This paper studies the pricing and service effect of a product in a dual-channel supply chain with one manufacturer and one retailer. A single-channel, retailer's dual-channels and manufacturer's dual-channels supply chain models are established, respectively. The decision problems of optimal pricing and service under different channels are analyzed. The results indicate that the retailer's offline channel service level will be improved when it also has an online channel, while the retailer's offline channel service level will be reduced when the manufacturer creates an online channel, if the competitiveness between the online and offline channel is the same, under the condition of low service sensitivity. Besides, the offline retail channel service level will be reduced whether the retailer or the manufacturer create an online channel, under the condition of high service sensitivity. Finally, we coordinate the two dual-channel models with quantity discount contract.

Modern information technology has become an indispensable tools for the knowledge work. The optimization and standardization of work process from the industrial era to the post-industrial society are realized by the major means of information technology. The rapid development of information technology provided an effective means for the knowledge work. However, the effects mechanism of different kinds of information technology on the knowledge work productivity has not been clear. From the literature review we found that, software system and networks, as the most frequently used information technology tools, have the different effects at the level of the individual end-user. The empirical study indicates that, software systems and network technology have become the essential aids for knowledge work. On the five dimensions of knowledge work productivity (efficiency, quality, innovation, customer satisfaction and collaboration), the impacts of software systems and network technology show the significant differences. In terms of efficiency and quality, the role of software is significantly better than network. While in the dimensions of customer satisfaction, innovation and collaboration, the role of the network is significantly better than software. This paper seeks the different “focal point” of software systems and networks on knowledge work productivity.

This paper selects 12 publishing listed companies in China as research sample, uses the factor analysis method to make a comprehensive evaluation and comparative analysis of the growth of publishing listed companies in 2012-2013 according to four respects including profitability, operation ability, debt paying ability and development ability. Finally, we find that the profitability is not strong for traditional publishing business which needs the transformation and upgrade of the profit model; the growth quality of main business income is not high and the economies of scale is not significant; the debt financing ratio is too low and the efficiency of the use of funds is poor; the learning ability and strain capacity need to be improved to keep the firm growth vigor.
