This paper examines the mechanism of functioning of the artistic space of the Egyptian noble tomb of the Old Kingdom period as a system of pictorial and architectural components. The purpose of the burial and the mechanism of functioning of the system to a great extent determined the themes and content of the plots, which contributes a special relevance to the study. A systematic analysis of reliefs from more than a hundred burials of the necropolises of Giza and Saqqara is used, with a focus on the design of the large tombs of Yasen and Chi. The paper emphasizes the fact that the universal mechanism for the functioning of the level system “a large image of the owner – a nearby scene” is a stable correlation between the elements of the attribute set of the nobleman and the content of the plots. Moreover, a large image of the nobleman is valuable not only as an image itself, but also as a set of necessary attributes that allow one to engage in “contemplating” on the images corresponding to these attributes. A new unusual variant of correlation has been identified by depicting a nobleman without the required attribute, however in a certain pose in which this attribute is usually present. Thus, the combination of the necessary insignia, combined with the pose of the depicted nobleman, endowed the large image of the owner with additional functions, allowing it to correlate with several plots and scenes of different content.

The approaches to the stratification of the country’s population used today by the scientific community do not make it possible to determine the integrated position of an individual in Russian society - an individual who occupies a high place in one of the stratifications may be at a low level in other stratifications. For example, a representative of the “higher” echelon of the scientific community in terms of material indicators may be significantly lower than a middle-level entrepreneur. Our developed methodology and classification of the population social habitus makes it possible to form its habitual structure, which is unifying in relation to most of the existing stratifications. Taking into account the fact that the habitus is a practically unchanged value, it becomes possible to determine and predict the proportion of the population that performs the function of stabilizing society, which can become a clarifying alternative to the current calculations of this population category through belonging to the middle class. The purpose of the study is to determine the habitual structure of the Kaliningrad region population. The theoretical basis of the study is the theory of social space by P. Bourdieu. The determination of social habitus was made on the basis of the author’s approach, which consists in determining social habitus by comparing the main disposition direction of the respondents and their effective capital. Main results: The existing habitual structure of the Kaliningrad region population to smooth forward movement in the socio-economic development of the region. The performed calculations, based on the population habitual structure, showed that fifty-five percent of the region’s population has the function of society social stabilization; forty-five percent are negative or neutral.

The purpose of the study is to consider the structure of Old Irish poetry by the example of several principles of its division: by time, the function of the poet and the addressee of the poetic message. The main research materials used are Old Irish sagas, which contain poetic elements, as well as foreign and Russian research in the field of Celtology, affecting the development of Old Irish poetry. The relevance of the research is due to the fact that the relationship of druids, filids and bards in Old Irish poetry is not clearly established and is the subject of scientific discussion and many interpretations. The methodology of the research consists in using the method of comparative analysis of Old Irish poetry, during which the change of influence of poetic groups (druids, filids and bards) is considered. Understanding this shift is also impossible without analyzing the historical and cultural context (the Christianization of Ireland, Viking raids, the weakening of the monastic way of life and other social and cultural aspects). As a result of the conducted research, it was found that along with the change in influence, the recipient of the poetic text also changes: from appeals to the higher powers of the druids – to the visionary rituals of the filids – and further to a wider audience of bards. The results of the research allow us to take a broader look at the problem of the formation of Old Irish poetry not only in literary terms, but also from the point of view of cultural development.

The article is devoted to the gastronomic culture and its derivative – the gastronomic image of the territory. Gastronomy, as a field of knowledge, reveals the connection between food and culture and is an urgent topic of cultural research. Within the framework of this article, the subject of research is the study of the gastronomic image of the territory from a theoretical point of view. The author seeks to answer the questions: what are the system-forming elements of the gastronomic culture, how do the concepts of “gastronomic image” / “gastronomic brand” relate, what is the structure and what is the specificity of the gastronomic image of the territory in comparison with other perspectives of the positioning of the territory. Method and methodology: the ideas of this article are based on systematic, practical, semiotic approaches in understanding the gastronomic culture, modern gastronomic practices, and the gastronomic image of the city. The novelty and the author’s contribution lies in the theoretical positions that fit into the mainstream of cultural knowledge. The author offers his vision of the system-forming elements of gastronomic culture and his vision of the structure of the gastronomic image of the city as a 4-component fashion: food, places, people, events. The author identifies three specific characteristics of the gastronomic image of the city: 1) authenticity as an optional, not a mandatory feature; 2) dynamism as an indicator of the potentially high variability of the gastronomic image following changing living conditions and available resources; 3) a possible break with the local cultural tradition existing in hidden everyday life, while the gastronomic image is formed in the public sphere with the help of traditional and new media, greedy for hype. The results of the study can be applied in such an area of applied cultural studies as geobrending. A good theory is a guide to action, if you undertake to form a gastronomic image of the city, you need to understand its structure and specifics. The scope of the results: geobranding, cultural industries related to food, brand communications in regional media and new media, tourism.

The relevancy of addressing the problem of forward and reverse perspective in the depiction of space on the plane when teaching drawing to children and students is due to the dominance of geometric stereotypes in their pictures, reflecting the photographic character of the surrounding video environment. The aim of the study: in the conditions of increasing trends of standardization and unification of the global society – to substantiate the cultural meanings of including the forward and reverse perspectives in the content of teaching drawing – to master the cultural heritage of Old Russian art, to study and preserve the diversity of visual techniques of small ethnic groups of the country, to develop the creative potential of self-expression in drawing “as I see it”. The methods of analysis, generalization, comparison, contrast, as well as cultural, ecological and complex approaches were used. The result of the study was the revealed contradiction between the fact of dominance of reverse perspective in the perception of children of different nationalities and representatives of indigenous peoples who have not been exposed to civilization, on the one hand, and the teaching in modern schools of direct linear perspective in drawing as the only “correct”, the formation of stereotypes of geometric representation of the surrounding world in students. The conclusion is made about the importance of nature- and culture-oriented orientation of teaching drawing to give it individuality, interest in the cultural heritage of the country and the desire to develop modern domestic fine arts. Area of application of the results: pedagogical process of teaching drawing at school and university.

The object of the research is the memorial culture in Chechen painting, the subject being its representation in the works of Chechen artists. The purpose of the study is to consider the representation of the phenomenon of memorial memory in the work of Chechen artists. The paintings of national artists of Chechnya served as empirical material in the work. The methodology is based on comparative studies, art history and the system-constructive analysis. The authors construct the concepts of memorial heritage in the paintings of Chechen artists, revealing the universal characteristics of their work. For the authors, memorial culture comes down to a variety of ways to materialize the socio-cultural ethnic context, including the visualization of mythological and religious meanings, as well as the translation of mental characteristics and ethnic archetypes. The deep memory of the people includes historical and cultural areas, which include artistic images born in a creative way. In turn, ethnic art serves as a kind of reflection of ethnophilosophy, the mentality of the people, national traditions and a means of conveying the deep memory of the people.

Purpose. The article is devoted to analysis of material culture as space of human existence. The subject of the analysis is a system of human relations with space of material culture. The author aims to reveal essence of a man as a biosocial being through analysis of a structure of material culture and its place in a cultural system as a whole. Methodology. The research is based on a principle of system analysis, culturological and cultural anthropological approaches, as well as on typologization and analysis of written sources methods. Results. The results of the work are that the author considers material culture as consisting of a number of groups of elements, both external to a human (things, technics, technologies), and a human oneself through one`s physicality and body technologies (physical culture). A position of these elements in a coordinate system “universal – regional (general) – specific” is analysed. Practical implications. Results of the study can be applied in fields of human socialization and enculturation, analysis of cross-cultural interactions.

At present, the urgent task is to preserve and broadcast the cultural values of different peoples. From this point of view, symbols of Chinese benevolent culture can be seen as an important form of cultural communication. Three symbols of good wishes were chosen as the objects of the study: dragon, lotus and phoenix. Despite the prevalence of these images, there are practically no works in the literature that comprehensively, from different points of view, would describe the semantics of each of them. Thus, the goal is to reveal the history of these symbols, their meaning and traditions of use in a benevolent culture. The author identified and systematized the main images and meanings of the three symbols of Chinese culture.
