The article focuses on online training tools allowing for a combination of visual, verbal and written communication among remote clients. It outlines the possibilities of using these tools for learning and demonstrates a case of implementation of customized solutions, providing the characteristics of the whole system and the range of its intended use. The article describes some applications that form an integral part of the solution, referring also to some existing services currently available in the web seminar market.

Summary form only given. The article describes short history of development of SANET network optical infrastructure for research and education. The current status, new trends and future perspective of optical infrastructure for schools in Slovakia will be presented. The Slovak Academic Network - SANET has been built in frame of SANET II project and the network covers all Slovak universities and scientific institution in 27 Towns. The communication technology which is used is fully based on dark fibre. Several project running on the optical infrastructure. Start with the access to grid and installed supercomputer with MPP on the SANET network infrastructure. Also running project “SANET to schools” witch make possible 1 Gbps connection to more than 600 secondary schools will be presented.

Many words has been told about Bologna process and individual steps for each university to follow those recommendations. Presentation deals with identifying not only key requirements in changing European higher education area but also recognizing several opportunities for Central European universities and colleges how to compete (and win) with other ones. One can recognize advantages and disadvantages of adopting Bologna principles but we will analyze not only DS or ECTS Label but also key benefits for students, teachers, university management and industry. Presentation is oriented to understanding key principles, management role in current and changing Europe and at last - but not least - also to role of modern ICT in that process. The classical question sounds - can university IS/ICT supports or blocks that process? Is it simplification or complication? Who will take the gain and who the pain?

For a long time, people have been trying to find ways that would lead to more effective teaching. Simultaneously, study and teaching supports have been developing. Current information technology, electronics and microprocessor technology have brought completely new possibilities into creation of study supports. They also allowed a new way of study supports creation and their direct connection with external systems. It is basically about the transition from static to dynamic creation of study supports. Also, the possibility of direct connection of study supports with external systems enables all that was impossible up to now, such as creation of study supports for a target group and the ability to monitor and manage students' practical activities or responses to these practical activities and modify study supports according to students' results. This is the prerequisite for the creation of study supports with internal intelligence. This paper summarizes the results of a research which has been conducted at our department for several years.

Evaluation and validation user data during practical exams, trainings, interviews or another type of testing is tedious, error prone mission. The more difficult this mission becomes when there is more than one way for job-seeker or student to do the desired task. Setting up the environment consisting of multiple nodes on which the challenge should be accomplished is equally tedious also. This paper presents novel approach which makes this mission easier. We present an easy way how to setup environment based on open-source software which can be use in real world scenarios like training, testing or practicing.

The authors show their view on e-learning in the last ten years focusing on situation in Slovakia. Presenting their own experiences, they aim to provide relevant information about these issues, constraints and benefits related to e-learning way of engineering education. The authors are convinced that one of the biggest challenges in future e-learning is implementation of the principles of quality e-learning courses development according to the newest standards to use the golden opportunities in increasing the students' motivation and effectiveness of engineering education. They are utilizing decades of practical experiences with the creation of courses for eLearn central portal and their implementation in praxis.

In the globalised world teaching international groups in higher education is inevitable. Students travel everywhere with exchange programs to spend one or two semesters at a university in another country. In Europe students have different attitudes towards study, course materials and tutors. Tutors have to prepare for new teaching methods in intercultural environment. This paper collects the cultural dimensions that are emerging in teaching difficulties in intercultural groups in higher education and describes how IT can mitigate these difficulties.

At our department, students can study virtual reality technologies and their problematic (Department of computers and informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of Košice - DCI FEEI TU of Košice). Study of virtual reality technologies is divided into two parts. First part focus on theoretical knowledge and second part focus on practical knowledge. This paper presents practical exercises during which students earn practical experiences about virtual reality technologies (3D scanning, augmented reality, head-mounted display, 3D displays and 3D printing). This paper also presents our experiences and students' feedback to this education.
