This study investigated whether the symptoms that are closely associated with the mid –life transition such as professional burnout has any influence on the effectiveness of teachers and on the choices the teachers in this age bracket make regarding their teaching career. The research objective was to examine the influence of burnout on the management of career progression among teachers in public secondary schools of Londiani Sub-County. The research methodology for the study was mixed method approach and concurrent triangulation research design. The target population was 476 respondents comprising of 440 teachers and principals from 36 schools in Londiani sub-county. The sample for the study was 95 respondents selected using the stratified sampling technique. Five strata bases was created based on the number of zones. From each zone, a sample of 3 Principals and 16 teachers was identified using purposive sampling. Questionnaires was used to collect data from the teachers whereas key informant interviews were conducted for the principals. Piloting was conducted in Kedowa Zone where 10 teachers was sampled to establish validity, reliability, credibility and dependability. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages and inferentially using ANOVA in Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS 24). The results showed that there wa s evidence that the relationship between burnout on career advancement which was linear; indicated moderately strong positive linear relationship. This implied that burnout has a significant and moderate strong relationship with the career management. The coefficient of determination, R-square of 0.260 implied that 26.0% of the variance in career management is explained by burnout. The research hypothesis posited H 0 : burnout has no significant effect on career management. Thus, the model was significant and therefore the null hypothesis was rejected on the ground that burnout had a significant and moderate strong positive linear correlation with career management. The study recommended that the government should enhance support on burnout management program among teachers to enhance the gains from it to the education sector. The researcher suggested that other studies should be done on the same topic but in a different geographical environment. Other studies can also consider other objectives and variables not considered in the current study. This study provided insights into Mid-life crisis on performance. The researcher recommended that a study be done by expanding the scope to other counties. Key Words: Mid –Life Transition Crisis, Professional Burnout, Teacher’s Effectiveness CITATION : Magara,W. This study investigated the role of performance management on productivity of employees within selected banks in Kenya . The study specifically established the influence of performance planning, monitoring and rewarding on productivity of employees within Equity and Kenya Commercial Bank branches in Embu County. The study was anchored on Knowledge-Worker Performance Theory, Balanced Score Card Theory and Performance Management Theory. The study adopted descriptive research design. This study adopted stratified random sampling according to departments. The respondents were drawn from the head office employees and management of Kenya Commercial Bank and Equity bank in Kenya. The target population was the banks’ head office staffs who were 338 in number. Due to easy accessibility of the staff, a census survey was adopted. The study used primary data hence the use of Likert scale questionnaires. Responses in the questionnaires was tabulated, coded and processed by use of a computer Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) programme. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation was adopted. The relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variables was tested using multiple linear regression model. The study found that performance planning, performance monitoring and performance rewards had a positive significant influence on employee productivity within selected Commercial Banks in Kenya. The study concluded that performance planning helps in matching organization and employee objectives. Employee performance monitoring is the practice of tracking the work of employees including the quality, quantity, and efficiency of work and performance rewards encourage employees to take on additional responsibilities or improve their performance. The study recommended that performance planning should attempt to match the employee’s career goals and aspirations with those of the company or organization. The banks should use employee monitoring tracking software to track the staff's activity on their work computers. The banks should align rewards with performance to show employees how their productivity helps the company. A rewards program can be established to incentivize employees based on how well they meet or exceed these targets. This study investigated the influence of socio- economic factors on empowerment of women enrolled in table banking in Busia County, Kenya. The study used the following theories in supporting the research variables; social network theory, capital formation theory, human capita theory and Schien theory. Descriptive research design was used in the study. The study targeted 63 officials from 21 women table banking groups in Busia County . The study adopted census thus collect data from the all the 63 respondents. The study used primary data which was collected using structured questionnaires. Pilot test was conducted to test validity and reliability of data collection tools. Descriptive and inferential analysis was done by the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 23) and presented through percentages, means, standard deviations and frequencies. For variable relationships, inferential analysis was examined and analyzed. Data was presented by use of tables, figures and models. Using Pearson correlation coefficient, the findings established a direct and positive relationship between empowerment of women enrolled in Table banking group and independent variables; fund mobilization, access to finance, social capital and capacity building. Further inference using multiple linear regressions showed the proportionate contribution of socio-economic success factors towards empowerment of women enrolled in table banking. This study observed that fund mobilization showed the greatest positive significant predictive power towards empowerment of women enrolled in table banking while access to finance had least positive significant predictive power. In this regard, the study recommended that table banking groups should as well pursue viable and economical external sources of funding to boost their capital base and support the group investment activities. The study recommended that women enrolled in table banking should enhance social capital through social networking. Further, the study recommended that government should come up with policies that would enhance women accessibility to finance since it has positive effect on women empowerment. This study investigated the procurement practices affecting procurement performance of oil marketing companies in Kenya. The study was anchored on social exchange theory, innovation diffusion theory and game theory. This study adopted cross-sectional descriptive research design. The target population comprised of all small and medium Oil marketing firms operating in Mombasa County which formed the unit of observation. The unit of analysis was the management staff drawn from procurement, supply chain, operations, finance and accounting and ICT. The sample size was 79 arrived at using Slovin’s formula from the target population. The collected data was coded and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 26) tool. The data analysis techniques employed included descriptive statistics which measured mean and standard deviation and regression analysis which was conducted to test whether the strength of the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable were statistically significant. Analyzed data was presented using frequency and descriptive tables. The study results established that procurement performance demonstrated a substantial positive link with procurement practices, according to the correlation coefficient index. In addition, ANOVA was used to assess the regression model's validity. With a p-value of 0.05, the results showed that the model was valid for assessing the relationship between the research variables. The procurement performance of Oil marketing firms in Kenya was significantly and favorably affected by procurement practices as indicated by the coefficient of determination (r 2 ) in the model summary. The study concluded that the company upholds supplier collaboration to enhance buyer-supplier relationships. Also there is open communication between the companies and oil suppliers. The oil companies undertook vendor development periodically to ensure they meet the required standards and that the oil companies promote alliance-based relationships with suppliers. The study recommended that the oil marketing companies should periodically identify the market oil needs to determine the capacity to procure. Further, the oil marketing companies should perform cost estimation before procuring oil supplies. Animal feed manufacturing companies in Kenya have long been shrouded in mystery regarding their operational practices. The article delved into the secrets of successful animal feed manufacturing companies in Kenya in this groundbreaking research. The study examined how inventory management practices impact operational performance in the animal feed industry and aimed to uncover the inventory management practices used by the companies. A sample of 24 companies was selected using a reliable, simple random sampling method from a population of 79 companies. Both primary and secondary data were collected using a structured questionnaire, and descriptive statistics were employed for analysis. The study's results revealed some fascinating insights into the inventory management practices employed by animal feed manufacturers in Kenya. Just-In-Time and Economic Order Quantity were the most widely used inventory management practices, adopted by 28.1% and 26.6% of companies, respectively. Many companies also implemented Vendor Management Inventory and Material Requirement Planning at 23.4% and 21.9%, respectively. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between job-sharing arrangements and Generation Y employee performance in Kenya Ports Authority, Mombasa. The study was premised on the Expectancy Theory. This study adopted the descriptive survey design and targeted the 3,562 Generation Y employees and the HR management of KPA. A sample size of 138 respondents was used that was obtained from the Cochran formula and selected through stratified random sampling technique. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, such as, frequencies and percentages and inferential statistic involving the use of correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The findings of the study showed that job-sharing arrangements had favourable impact on Generation Y employee performance. Job-sharing had positive effects on generation Y employee performance. As a result, the findings suggest that job-sharing (independent) factor served as reliable indicators of employee output. The study recommended that organizations need to improve their awareness of the traits that define members of the generation Y workforce in order to maximize the generation Y workforce's potential for productivity in the workplace. Additional research is necessary in order to gain a complete understanding of how job-sharing influence particular types of workers. The adoption of the study would be beneficial to stakeholders for managerial decision making in KPA and elsewhere. Key Words: Job-Sharing, Generation Y, Employee Performance CITATION : Fundi, F. The impact of employee productivity on job satisfaction within the context of law firms is a pivotal concern. In this regard, productivity assumes a paramount role as a performance metric in the legal sector. A salient challenge encountered by legal practitioners pertains to achieving a harmonious work-life balance, resonating with the demanding requisites of the profession. While a flawless equilibrium between professional commitments and personal pursuits might be elusive, there is an emergent acknowledgment among legal entities regarding the indispensability of work/life equilibrium for their workforce. This envisions a holistic alignment between occupational responsibilities and individual aspirations. Nevertheless, the practical implementation and subsequent effects of flexible work schedule initiatives in Kenyan legal practices, specifically within Nakuru County, remain an empirical gap. This study, therefore, delved into a comprehensive investigation of the repercussions of flexible work schedule on the productivity of legal professionals operating within law firms situated in Nakuru County, Kenya. The study's theoretical underpinnings were rooted in the Compensation Theory. Employing a descriptive survey research design, the study's scope encompassed the entire populace of 2000 law firms domiciled within Nakuru County. The research cohort consisted of select legal personnel comprising a partner and three tenured legal staff members. Employing systematic random sampling, a sample size of 95 respondents was derived. Data accumulation was channelled through structured questionnaires. Analytical methodologies encompass both descriptive statistics, exemplified through frequency distributions and percentages, and inferential tools, prominently the Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple linear regression analyses. SMEs sustainability is of increasing interest worldwide as many enterprises perform dismally and are of high mortality rates. It is therefore necessary to conduct research to enhance SMEs survival rates so as to enable the sector to optimally realize the numerous benefits associated with entrepreneurship practice. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of entrepreneurial competence practices and their impact on sustainability of SMEs in Kenya. The study employed descriptive survey design to realize the intended objectives. The target population under study was the 1015 registered SMEs in Embu County and its environs. The researcher applied stratified random sampling technique since the population was heterogeneous. The study employed questionnaires and document analysis guides to collect required data from a sample of 102 SMEs. The collected data was coded, quantified and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Quantitative data was analyzed by the use of statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) whilst qualitative data was analyzed by content analysis. A substantial number of respondents had not applied entrepreneurial competence practices in their business operations. The study also established that majority of respondents measured business sustainability in terms by trends in profit, increase number of customers as well as age of business. The study concludes that the key entrepreneurial competence practices were found to have a substantial impact on sustainability of SMEs in Embu town and its environs. However, constantly monitoring was found necessary to make the competencies learnt be translated into more practical work as most of the trained entrepreneurs were not fully utilizing the acquired competencies in their ventures to attain sustainable levels.
