This paper aims to (1) describe the terms used in the rice cultivation process and (2) explain the lexical and cultural meaning of terms in the process of rice cultivation. This study uses the language relativism approach. Language relativism assumes that the meaning of the lexicon of each language or dialect of a language is relative, depending on the location and time. The research locus chose Banjarsari Village, a village on the east end of Cilacap Regency, Central Java. Data collection uses narrative and observations methods. The sources of this study were seven farmers in Banjarsari Village. Data analysis through five stages, namely data reduction, data display, data verification, theoretical interpretation and meaning, and conclusion results. The results of the study show that the terms in rice cultivation include 17 terms and two terms postharvest activity (mepe and slip). Seventeen of these terms consist of 5 terms in the nursery stage, four terms in the land preparation stage, five terms of the treatment phase, and three terms at the harvest stage.

In the context of promotion there are interesting phenomena related to the process of traveling chicklit and teenlit novels since going out from the publisher's warehouse to the readers. The process is through systems and mechanisms that involve many professional workers outside the field of literature. They are the marketing profession; from a public-relation, sales-promotion, to event organizers. To spread the chicklit and teenlit novels, team-work utilizes mass psychology conditions. The potential for public consumerism is exploited through various strategies. Every major publisher such as Elex Media Komputindo, GagasMedia, and Gramedia Pustaka Utama, has a promotion and marketing division that is responsible for selling products and ensuring the smooth distribution of products to consumers in the broadest range of regions. This business involves professional workers in certain fields that work in synergy. Promotional tips are carried out through event launching, book launching, book reviews, "meet the authors", and others. That way, marketing novels is not enough just to be stacked in a shop window, but promoted on a large scale through magazines, newspapers, book covers, even on-line bookstores (e-shop) on the internet.

Literary work is a means for authors to offer various ideologies to their readers. Through literature, the author can influence the views of life and or ideology of the reader. From the inter-group conflict that was built into the structure of literary works, the author can fight for the ideology he adheres to. This short article intends to uncover the ideological struggle in Pramoedya Ananta Toer's novel Midah Simanis Bergigi Emas using the analysis of Gramsci's hegemony. The analysis shows that the Midah Simanis Bergigi Emas novel offers three ideologies namely the ideology of feudalism (which controls), the primitive ideology of coastal culture (which is mastered), and the ideology of socialist realism (which is championed). Because in the novel the two contrasting cultures are seen as bad culture, the culture of socialist realism is the most ideal.

This paper is a theoretical study of the use of cultural theory which played to explain journalism activities that just not an activity to provide accurate information in the public space. In an industrial context, in fact journalism activities has face any complex situasion. Now, the activities is no longer exclusively owned by journalists, but journalism is a kind of football arena that have some interest in it. To present news, journalists must be able to absorb various interest from various trajectories. There is a game metaphor that journalists must follow, and how journalist do "practice" the game in the field of contestation, which will be explored using Bourdieu's cultural theory,Through this article, I hope, it can contribute to how anthropology plays a role in developing media studies, and vice versa, it can be a trigger for how anthropologists should begin to enter cultural studies which are not just exotic and simple social units; but also entered the study arena into more complex social units, for example in media organizations

Novel Lelaki Tuadan Laut by Ernest Hemingway contains many of the themes that preoccupied Hemingway as a writer and as a man. The routines of life in a Cuban fishing village are evoked in the opening pages with a characteristic economy of language. The stripped-down existence of the fisherman Santiago is crafted in a spare, elemental style that is as eloquently dismissive as a shrug of the old man’s powerful shoulders.Hemingway was famously fascinated with ideas of men proving their worth by facing and overcoming the challenges nature. Through his struggle, Santiago demonstrated the ability of the human spirit to endure hardship and suffering in order to win. It is also his deep love and knowledge of the sea, in its impassive cruelty and beneficence, that allows him to prevail. The essential physicality of the story – the smells of tar and salt and fish blood, the cramp and nausea and blind exhaustion of the old man, the terrifying death spasm of the great fish – is set against he ethereal qualities of dazzling light and water, isolation, and the swelling motion of the sea. And through it all narrative is constantly tugging, unreeling a little more, and then pulling again, all in tandem with the old man’s struggle.Structural analysis aims to describe (1) elements, characters, settings, and perspectives in the novel Old Man and The Sea, (2) the interrelationships between intrinsic elements in the form of themes, plot, background, character, characterization and perpective in the novel Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway.

The stripped-down existence of the fisherman Santiago is crafted in a spare, elemental style that is as eloquently dismissive as a shrug of the old man’s powerful shoulders.Hemingway was famously fascinated with ideas of men proving their worth by facing and overcoming the challenges nature. Through his struggle, Santiago demonstrated the ability of the human spirit to endure hardship and suffering in order to win. It is also his deep love and knowledge of the sea, in its impassive cruelty and beneficence, that allows him to prevail. The essential physicality of the story – the smells of tar and salt and fish blood, the cramp and nausea and blind exhaustion of the old man, the terrifying death spasm of the great fish – is set against he ethereal qualities of dazzling light and water, isolation, and the swelling motion of the sea. And through it all narrative is constantly tugging, unreeling a little more, and then pulling again, all in tandem with the old man’s struggle.Structural analysis aims to describe (1) elements, characters, settings, and perspectives in the novel Old Man and The Sea, (2) the interrelationships between intrinsic elements in the form of themes, plot, background, character, characterization and perpective in the novel Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway.","PeriodicalId":229358,"journal":{"name":"Nusa: Jurnal Ilmu Bahasa dan Sastra","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129228377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
