This article addresses the main reason for the deterioration of the power quality. This is the influence of nonlinear electrical receivers. The developed methods for assessing the actual contribution of the consumers to the distortion of the voltage waveform don’t reflect all the factors influencing on the power quality indicators. That’s why the authors of the article have developed their own assessment methodology excluding previous disadvantages. The idea is based on the determination of the actual contribution of electrical receivers based on continuous measurement of their current-voltage characteristics. The novelty of the method is that the measurement takes place in real time. The results obtained show how the actual contribution to the distortion of the voltage waveform are distributed between consumers at any given time. The modelling results can be used in the operation of the distribution electricity network when a new consumer is connected to it.

This paper discusses the issue of accounting for the effect of asynchronous motors on the short-circuit current if the rated current of the asynchronous motors more than 1.0% of the initial value of the periodic component of the short-circuit current in auxiliary systems of power plants and substations. As an example, the operating VIII - section of the auxiliary system of TPP (Thermal Power Plant) #1 in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan with nine asynchronous motors. The description of the computational-mathematical model in the ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program) program is given. With the help of the given model, the standards GOST 28249-93 and IEC 60909 were compared in order to assess their qualities in terms of solving the problem, the difference as a result of the calculation. This technique makes it possible to improve the method of accounting for the effect of asynchronous motors on the short-circuit current.

The Wellford method is a simple and effective way to calculate averages, variances, covariances, and other statistics. This method has several excellent properties: achieves high performance on the accuracy of decisions; it is straightforward to understand and implement; it is a one-pass online algorithm, which is extremely useful in some situations. Wellford’s original article published in 1962. Nevertheless, it cannot the algorithm is not widely known at present. Moreover, it is a non-trivial task to find a mathematical proof of its correctness or experimental comparisons with other methods. This article attempts to fill these gaps.

A country’s sustainable economy relies on the use of its advanced technologies in managing energy resources. Bangladesh is a blessed nation with natural resources to make its power sector a revolution, and is tremendously advancing its competency against the huge rising demand for electricity with planning to integrate renewable energy sources. With the geographical location and solar radiation profile, Bangladesh fits to renewable energy technologies. Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) in particular, a recent cutting-edge innovation with environmentally sustainable technology is becoming the most consistent in the Power-Tech-Revolution, which provides an extensive audit from the generation capacity to supply economy with the integration of thermal energy storage systems in RE framework. Gemasolar is such a pilot project in Spain, which successfully has remarked with the CSP technology. This study observes the feasibility of such technology in Bangladesh with its natural solar profile, with an economical, clean energy and technology perspective.

This paper presents the results of a theoretical analysis of the antenna characteristics main dependences on the amplitude and discrete phase-type distributions in the near radiation zone of an aperture antenna. The relevance of near-field studying is confirmed by the need for effective estimation of parameters and signal resolution, which is possible due to the accurate determination of the amplitude and discrete phase-type distribution in the aperture antenna or antenna array. The scientific novelty of the obtained analytical dependences consists in the possibility of developing a strict and well-founded approach to the extended interferometric array analysis on the example of numerical calculation of the field structure in the Fresnel and near-zones.

Social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube have escalated the content published over the internet by the users. Such platforms are considered salient influencing the daily activities causing the various segmentations in the society. The availability of user-generated social media content offers the opportunity to create models capable of extracting and predicting user interests efficiently. Many literature studies attempt the extract user interests to obtain the linage and the co-relation between individuals. However, extracting implicit and future user interests is challenging in research. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to review the existing methods, the efficiency of extracting and predicting user interests, and to highlight the limitations of the existing methods and techniques. This paper can be beneficial to many research and postgraduate students who focus on the topic related to user personality categorization and, text mining over social media.

This paper considers research on multiple partial discharge (PD) sources in a single XLPE-insulated cable sample. The electrical field was simulated in the field of the artificial defects of cables. Cable samples were prepared for experimental research. After that, artificial defects were created in them. PD measurements were performed from one to six cable artificial defects. Results showed similar phase-resolved PD patterns (PRPD). It is explained by the defects’ location in the field of the grounding electrode. The unexpected result is PD pulses form similarity. They have to differ because of the cable distributed-parameters line characteristics. However, the difference might be insignificant because of the small cable samples’ length. Besides, PD apparent charge and intensity also have no obvious dependence on defects’ amount. Therefore, multiple defects’ recognition is a complicated task. Probably, close defects’ location might complicate the recognition even in long cable lines.

A control system for an asynchronous motor is considered according to a simplified dual-power scheme, which allows implementing the holding mode. A block diagram of the electric drive is drawn up and its stability is evaluated. It is shown that in transient modes there is an oscillatory component caused by the synchronization moment. A correction device is proposed that allows damping vibrations. The analysis of the control system when changing the moment of inertia of the electric drive. To reduce the sensitivity of the control system to variations of this parameter, it is proposed to use a special sensor that allows using the correcting circuit to maintain the dynamic characteristics of the system. The analysis of the influence of restrictions in the chain of the corrective link. The results can be used in the synthesis of similar systems with variations in the moment of inertia.

The use of low-resistance neutral grounding increases the stress voltage of grounded elements of transformer substation equipment. If the stress voltage is calculated while accounting for the spreading of single-phase earth-fault currents through conductive sheaths and cable shields, then the threshold limit values of capacitive currents will be higher than the values if assumed that the current only spreads through the grounding device of a single substation. The purpose of this study was to estimate the threshold limit values of capacitive current in distribution networks with low-resistance neutral grounding for stress voltage. Stress voltage was determined by the voltage on the ground loop with a resistance of grounding devices 0.5 Ohm. Values of voltages for different distances of earth faults from power centers and capacitive currents were obtained from 200 to 1000 A.

This work deals with the study of water and air distribution irregularity in an industrial natural draft cooling tower (NDCT). Statistical histograms of water and air flow distribution in the NDCT are made, a significant degree of water and air irregularity has been established and a general criterion for the dimensionless water and air distribution has been introduced. We have analyzed the flows’ distribution law and have found that the statistical data of water and air flow in natural draft cooling towers adhere to the normal distribution law. The distribution functions of the dimensionless of water concentration and air velocity are obtained. A technical and economic calculation of the irregularity flows influence on the thermal power plant fuel consumption has been carried out. The knowledge about the law of the water and air concentration distribution is necessary for more accurate calculations in the cooling towers design and operation.
