This work deals with the user interface assessment of weariness and vigilance diagnosis. The goal of this work was to Establish the algorithm for assessment and statistical evaluation of mental performance effected, would vigilance. Individual tests are performed in graphic form and focus on memory and reaction time. Test results are stored in a structured database. The system compares the results in five age categories. It is one of the few instruments that are capable of analyzing objectively lack of sleep or sleep disorders occurrence. The application is designed for all ages, although older generation may be a problem with computer operation. The Measured medical information are statistically processed and compared with normal values selected group of people. The program was completed and tested on 92 people in collaboration with University Hospital Ostrava and were created classification groups.

A global niche top (GNT) company has globally high market share in a specific field. While specializing in the limited field and aiming at a high share, a scale is secured aimed at the world market. This strategy attracts attention for small and medium-sized enterprises whose management resources are restricted. However, since those companies have various target fields, understanding the common success factor only by analyzing each example is difficult. Moreover, it is difficult for a selection-type questionnaire to understand the success factor in various fields. In this study, we attempted to clarify success factors by analyzing the free description data written about GNT companies using text mining. As a result, information related to success factors of various types of industries was acquired.

A survey of related work is an important task for every researcher, and databases of scientific articles are indispensable for this task. This paper proposes a new visualization method for search results and demonstrates a system that implements this method. Given a query, the system returns a list of articles and displays a time series of citation counts (CCs) for each article. The novelty of the visualization is in its use of CC for the horizontal axis and focused CC (FCC) for the vertical axis. A scatter plot of the article reveals how the article was evaluated.

This paper presents an improvement of bounded-SVD bias - a matrix factorization (MF) method for recommender systems. In bounded-SVD bias, the bound constraints are included in the objective function, which ensures that they are satisfied during the optimization process. As shown in one of our previous work, this helps bounded-SVD bias outperform an existing MF method with bound constraints, called Bounded Matrix Factorization. However, there is one issue with bounded-SVD bias that it is prone to overfitting. In this work, we introduce a new term to the objective function of bounded-SVD bias that can help it avoid overfitting. We also perform various experiments using real-world datasets, the results of which show an improvement in terms of accuracy and thus the superiority of the proposed method.

It is difficult for learning models to achieve high classification performance with imbalanced data sets. To conquer the problem, this study presents a strategy involving the reduction of size of majority data set and the generation of synthetic samples of minority data set. Parkinson's disease data set is used to examine and to compare the performance of classification methods. The paired t-tests are also used to show the effectiveness of the proposed method compari.ng with that of the other methods.

Generally, evaluations in customer reviews are shown with text and score. In addition, there are 2 kinds of scored evaluations, which are a comprehensive evaluation and topic evaluations. However, topic evaluations are not often given by reviewers. Therefore, it is required to estimate the evaluations. In this paper, we researched a performance of estimation by SVM. Furthermore, we compared results of estimation by SVM and scanning with dependency relation tree. The result shew that precision of estimation by each method is low. On the other hand, the result shew that precision in positive score is over about 70% in each topic.

Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MoE) started planning and promoting comprehensive Digital Learning Initiative in 2013. It is expected that teachers and students can use broadband networks in campus in 2017. Students can do online learning with different kinds of digital devices at any time. Besides, students can do ubiquitous learning by getting digital learning resources on cloud devices. Teachers can grasp innovative teaching strategies with the application of digital technology and design the learning activities that are more adaptive to individual students. Students have the information force of mobile learning, the abilities to use information tools and grasp the information, as well as Internet literacy and ethics. The learning model of education at all levels will transform into student-centered to facilitate justice, public, autonomy and adaptive learning opportunities as well as make students in the country and those in the city have equal digital learning opportunities. Digital Learning Initiative will have profound influence on education system. Education cloud (EduCloud) is the flagship of the digital learning initiative. This paper presents our research and experience of applying Big data analytics to the EduCloud. We address Big data infrastructure and analytics to cover the issues of data collection, cleaning, storage, query, analytics, and visualization in order to make EduCloud more suitable for teachers and students in Taiwan.

The new graduate school education program Nitobe School was launched in 2015 as one of main education projects of “Top Global University Project” in Hokkaido University. This new graduate program is aimed to supply currently undermined skill-set to students from different home graduate or professional school. The scope of the Nitobe School program is to foster students to be a global leader who might contribute not only for local societies but also internationally by Team-Based-Learning (TBL) and Project-Based-Learning (PBL) methods. Since students have different expertise including the area of STEM and humanity, teachers cannot guide classes with their field, rather teachers need to educate students using a general topics. This general education program apparently requires different approaches from the conventional one. After completion of the first year of Nitobe School, we took place the survey that asked students how they felt about our new teaching methods. Overall, students appreciated with the new methods that we carried out, but there are some spaces for further improvement. In this report, we suggest potential ways to improve the Nitobe School program, which will be able to enhance further educating students, and at the same time educate teachers toward the TBL and PBL.

Recently, the concern with tourism destination marketing, which is conducted marketing research from a point of view from a tourism destination, has been growing. We developed a stamp-rally and questionnaire service using robots, with the aim of applying to the marketing research of tourist site and visitors of an exhibition. This robot-service is able to obtain the information and status of tourists by multiple robots, able to aggregate these data, and able to provide them to the stakeholders such event organizers in real time via the Internet. In this paper, we report two evaluation experiments in big events held on TOKYO Big Sight. In addition, we verify the effectiveness of our stamp-rally and questionnaire survey service using robots and devices, and verify the utilization of data obtained.

The purpose of this study is to show how EFL learners work on Text-to-speech (TTS) technology to improve their speaking accuracy. We constructed the system for improving speaking proficiency based on Web-Speech API. Usually, text-to-speech is available on the net or by using TTS applications in education. However, these sounds produced are not generally customized to the diversity of learners' learning strategies. The system constructed in the study makes it possible for learners to choose the words, phrases sentences or the passage they like to listen to for their speaking practice. Major findings that came out from this study are: (i) As to the easier materials, accuracy improvement was observed regardless of their proficiency, (ii) On the contrary, as to the difficult materials, such an improvement was not observed in the experiment, and (iii) there is diversity of how they worked on the system, and there are some patterns in their learning behaviors, Bottom-uppers and Top-downers. These findings suggest the usefulness of the current system for various types of learners in terms of learning strategies and a future possibility from a learning analytic point of view to modify the system.
