Traducción y edición de textos antiguos portugueses en la era de la hipertextualidad: una experiencia desde México 超文本时代古葡萄牙文本的翻译与编辑:来自墨西哥的经验

The article shows the necessity of hypertext editions and translations, mainly useful for the study of literature written before the Age of Enlightenment, but also for more modern literature that could benefit from technological advances, because these tools imply a greater and deeper internationalization of Portuguese literature, as it is possible to verify through this experience from Mexico.

Em introdução do livro Mulheres escritoras(1980b), onde reuniu treze admiráveis biografias de mulheres que se impuseram no universo tradicionalmente masculino da escrita, Maria Ondina Braga apresenta um conjunto de escritoras apontadas como exemplo de coragem e tenacidade num universo dominado por preconceitos e pela hipocrisia e intolerância, mulheres que ousaram desafiar os códigos de uma sociedade marcadamente repressora. This essay takes the concept of image as a point of reflection and, through the notions of imagination and imaginary, seeks to analyze it through the confrontation between literature and cinema. The aim is to establish some of the premises that allow for a further dialogue on how, in contemporary times, such a concept is perceived, transfigured and enhanced, seeking to enquire about the impact and the implications which are present in a culture of image and «web», both in terms of aesthetic reception and acquisition of knowledge.

This essay aims to rediscuss the work of Domicio da Gama, nowadays almost unknown in the context of 19th century Brazilian literature. We take here into account a short story from his early years, «As calças do Manoel Dias», published in 1886. The existential drama of its protagonist, an unlucky Portuguese salesman, is compared to Domicio da Gama’s irregular trajectory in Brazilian literature. Annex to the essay, the transcript of the short story stems from a thorough comparison of its four versions.

This article analyses the Phaedrus, 246css. and the characterisation it makes of the human ψυχή based on the image of a charioteer and two horses. It attempts to understand not only the meaning and implications of this image, the functions of each of its elements and the relations between them, but also a whole set of ideas to which this image appears to be linked: those of wings, striving, «supercelestial place», weight, confusion, conflict and falling. In this context the Phaedrus stresses that each human ψυχή tends from the start towards something superlative, unsurpassable (or towards what is termed «ὑπερουράνιος τόπος» sc. «ἀληθείας πεδίον») but also that this striving is obstructed by the opposite, i.e., by λήθη — and, to tell the truth, by a very wide variety of factors of λήθη. The analysis of the Phaedrus thus ends up demonstrating that the human ψυχή is intrinsically marked by the — at the same time constant and variable — mixing of ἀλήθεια with λήθη.

In 1646, Our Lady of Conception of Vila Viçosa was proclaimed patroness of Portugal by king John IV. The liturgical service to the patroness was made by the Régia Confraria de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which had big incomes. A small portion was allocated to alms, both in wheat and in money. The main beneficiaries were women widows and orphans, although confreres of brotherhood and some convents were also contemplated.

La retórica en internet: análisis de la persuación en los entornos virtuales 网络修辞:虚拟环境中的说服分析

Interest in the rhetorical aspects of the Internet is still not significant in academia. The present study intends to show how the Internet is, in fact, a cultural artefact and a medium in which a pertinent rhetorical discourse can be elaborated. Therefore, we seek to analyse and present what would be the elements or aspects that every web space should implement and how the (multimedia) discourse manages to persuade visitors of the importance of their content and manages to maintain them as permanent users.

A Room with a View (1908), by E. M. Forster, features difficult questions on the codifications of gender in arts and their social continuities in Edwardian England. The aim of this work is to analyze some of those questions in the novel as well as describe some frames of resistance to gender conventions. Before that, we present a brief overview on the relations between gender and literary creation in early 20th century English literature.

Representações de Portugal em Memorial de Aires, de Machado de Assis 马沙多·德·阿西斯在纪念埃利斯的葡萄牙代表

This article aims to analyze the representations of the Portuguese nation in Memorial de Aires, by Machado de Assis. These representations are built in order to show the obsolescence of 19th century Brazilian society’s Portuguese models and can also be noticed in the short-story «A canary’s ideas», written in 1899. We shall thus point to the critical view towards them. The complex relationships between Brazilian and Portuguese intellectuals in the Brazilian literary scene will be taken into consideration in this analysis, as Machado de Assis based on them to develop his critical view on the Portuguese cultural heritage. Such a subject is also mentioned in his chronicles in the series entitled «Bons dias», published between the years of 1888 and 1889.

These representations are built in order to show the obsolescence of 19th century Brazilian society’s Portuguese models and can also be noticed in the short-story «A canary’s ideas», written in 1899. We shall thus point to the critical view towards them. The complex relationships between Brazilian and Portuguese intellectuals in the Brazilian literary scene will be taken into consideration in this analysis, as Machado de Assis based on them to develop his critical view on the Portuguese cultural heritage.
