Examining Intercultural Communicative Competence in Collectivist and Individualistic EFL Teachers 集体主义和个人主义英语教师跨文化交际能力的研究

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) is an indispensable part of any educational setting and the need for high quality teachers is getting more crucial. Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) is the capacity to understand one’s own and other cultures and to communicate effectively and appropriately with those of other cultures. Language teachers are required to have an acceptable perception of ICC. Among the personality traits, being collectivist or individualistic is under study to find the possible effect/relationship on different aspects of teachers’ performance in real classes. This study is an attempt to investigate the difference in intercultural competence between collectivist and individualistic Iranian EFL teachers. To this end, the researcher administered Mostafaei’s, Alaei’s and Nosrati’s (2018) ICC questionnaire and Singelis’ et al. (1995) collectivists individualistic questionnaire to collect data from EFL teachers. After two months of data collection, 106 teachers responded to the items of both questionnaires. The data were analyzed through running independent samples t tests to find the difference between collectivists/ individualistic groups of teachers regarding their responses to ICC questionnaire. The results revealed that there is a significant difference between these groups and collectivists teachers had a higher mean in comparison to the mean score of individualistic teachers. Moreover, the results of further analysis showed that there is no significant difference between male and female EFL teachers regarding their responses to the ICC questionnaire. The results can be beneficial for both administrators and teachers.

: With the arrival of the new media era, a series of changes have taken place in the learning methods, ideological concepts, and lifestyle habits of college students. Compared to traditional media, new media forms have a higher richness and cover a wider range of channels. The convenience of interaction is also one of its characteristics, making them favored by young people. In the context of new media, ideological and political education for college students not only has opportunities, but also faces new challenges. This article analyzes the advantages of using new media in ideological and political education for college students, followed by an analysis of the current situation of ideological and political education for college students from the perspective of new media, and finally explores specific countermeasures.

: The quality video open course displays the advanced teaching idea, unique teaching method and rich teaching achievements of the outstanding expert teachers in our country. The research uses the Flanders interactive analysis system and Nvivo analysis software, and takes the classroom teaching video of expert teachers and pre-service teachers as the research object, analyzes and studies teacher-student interaction behavior, teaching question design, and teaching emotions, to explore the gap of Classroom Teaching between expert teacher and preservice teacher, to find directions for improvement and improvement. A Preliminary Study on Integration of Ideological, Political Courses into Fluid Mechanics Course 思想政治课融入流体力学课程初探

: It is important to take ideological and political course in current universities. An urgent problem exists among college teachers is how to impart professional knowledge to college students with guiding them to recognize the world and themselves in the right path. According to the characteristics of the basic courses and the characteristics of teaching methods in mechanical engineering, this paper takes fluid mechanics as an example to analyze how to excavate the ideological and political elements from the course. In order to improve students' interest in learning and master the professional knowledge, promote the affinity of ideological and political education, and help students recognize the world and themselves softly, this paper analyze the method of combining the professional knowledge of fluid mechanics with moral education skillfully.
