In the European folk medicine, the healing prayers have a great deal of importance. These prayers, which are always bound to credencial or empirical procedures, are -regarding to its formation and diffusion- under the same laws than the other genres of the traditional oral literature. The aim of this work is to elaborare a typology of the healing prayers according to formal and semantic criteria. For this purpose, examples from very different European regions have been taken into account.

Some questions are amphatized by public prayers study. Conceptually, analysis of these practices shows the excessive simplicity of the division between elitist and popular cultural forms, and the need of finding ways to establish appropriately the pertinence of social phenomena like these. From a cultural and sociological point of view, public prayers provide information about religious valours of a society; but also on her daily fears, and attempts of authorities to acheve a social cohesion at particular moments. We try to develop these three aspects in this research into the Spanish city of Oviedo.

A detailed description of the process of plaming and growing grapevine, induding the gathering of grapes and the production of wine. All tools and structures used are discussed. The study is based on data obtained at Castrillo de la Vega, from peasants, rather advanced in age. A comparison with data provided in other villages of the same area shows very small differences, mosdy concerning language, which I intend to discuss in a future study.

The author presents in this study sorne of the texts collected from oral tradition by himself in four agricultura! villages of the province of Jaen, during the years 1980 and 1981. The selection of material found at that time, which is at present deposited in the Catedra Seminario Menendez Pidal, consists of nine ballads belonging to the novelistic type. They are now offered in several variants. The transcription of the different texts is preceded by a discussion provinding information about the time when the poem developed, as well as about ist origin, plot, etc.

Arxiu d'Etnografia i Folklore de Catalunya was the first arrempt to institutionalise ethnographic research in Catalonia, becoming in the process one of the first to do so in Spain. Linked with Catalonian Noucentisme and deeply influenced by Euro pean ethnological theory of the time (Levy-Bruhl, W. Schmidt, Marett et al ), it represented a radical transformation from all that had been done up to then in the fields of ethnography and folklore in Catalonia. This transformation resulted in the theory of "Psychoethnography" created by the director and founder of the institution, Tomas Carreras i Artau.

The history of anthropology has tradicionally been studied by anthropologists no longer actively involved in fieldwork, who have used it to put forward their own methodological positions. The result has been the wide variety of different versions of that history. Only a history of anthropology written by historians, regardless of whether they come from anthropology or the history of science, will be able to make the hisrory of anthropology an objective discipline.

This article analyses the iconography of Christ, Mary and rhe saines of sorne shrines situated in different Spanish regions as was seen and reflected in the eighteenth century. Through devotional engravings and medals we recreare a world between Art History and Ethnography, since wath we are interesred in is not only their formal description, but also the privileges associated with their fabrication, their market and the use that the devout made of them. And ali this within the context of the reign of Carlos III, when the silversmith' s trade and religious prints were regulated.

After a brief introduction about the changeable meaning of the term «crime», the multivariable relation between the concept of crime and the different cultural conceptions is analyzed; it is also pointed out the usefulness of the ideas referred to justice and punishment for the definition of the different cultures. The relativism of punishable behaviours is exemplified by crimes related to religious regulations, homsexuality and parricide. The same variability can be perceived in the meaning of space, blood relations and heritage, with regard to what may be considered crime or not, and its punishment.
