Taking as a basis a specific collection of wedding songs compiled in the province of Guadalajara, we analyze the view that wedding rituals inspire in the same society that composed and recognized them as a creation of its own, and furthermore, the change which that society was subject to, as reflected by those occasional songs that were created for the sake of specific circumstances. Consideration is also given to the repercussions that social changes may have on the evolution of music. Both the texts and the different factors that are involved in the different phases of the musical process ( composers, interpreters and audience) bring to light a dynamics of change which, in the specific case assessed here, consist of small modifications or variants, both textual and musical, presumably leading to changes in style, while the repertoire continues in force; they manifest, though, more radical modifications that go as far as cause the substitution of a musical system for another, a circumstance that entails not only the disappearance of ancient repertoires but also the transformation of the very concept of music and of its cultural significance.

The instances of iconoclastic violence which Spain has suffered in recent phases of its history have not been explained in all of their cultural determinants. An interpretation is offered here of the relations between ritual system, sacrophobia and conflicts by reason of sex in Almaden, a mining village in Castilla-La Mancha, that serves to put forward an approach to those factors which, arising from an extrapolitical field, may seem to contribute to the forming of unconscious aspects of the Spanish contemporary anticlerical ideology.

The comparison of the animal tales and tales of magic in three large collections of traditional tales provides an inventory of tales of the types mentioned in the areas of Castile and Leon. The fact that the tales were collected during a limited period gives precise information regarding the popularity and preservation of the various themes and types. Based on the catalogue of Aarne-Thompson, the inventory includes sorne 160 types of tales. The most popular tales are generally the same in the three collections. In the most recent one, a tendency to shorten the tale is apparent, and there is a considerable number of very short tales. In any case, the inventory gives evidence of the vitality of the oral tale in popular culture.

The paper deal with the summing up of the content of Pierre Bourdieu's works and the searching of the line of argument that links seemingly unrelated fields of work: trough the categorys of field, habitus and doxa, developed by the author himself, we reach to the problem of the social construction of understanding and judgement and, through that, to its daily and contextual use and to the social construction of the sense of reality.

A new version is presented of the romance Lanzarote y el ciervo de pie blanco, collected in the village of El Argumosin (Asturias). So far very few variations are known in the oral tradition of this rare bailad of the Arturic cycle, namely from the Canary Islands, Almeria and Jaen. The formal aspectsd and the story parts are analyzed of the different modern versions, and its probable origin is postulated in the only printed text within the Cancionero de Romances of Martln Nudo (1550).
