The prosopographical approach has been questioned in different disciplinary domains as its scientific nature. The debate prosopography is a technique, a tool for research, an auxiliary science or method transpires in scientific arguments and those who are dedicated to explaining the prosopographical research assumptions. In the social sciences, for example, prosopography is not seen only as an instrument of research, but as a method associated with a theoretical construct to apprehend the social world. The historians that use prosopographic analysis, in turn, oscillate about the analysis of collective biography is a method or a polling technique. Given this setting we aimed at in this article, discuss the prosopographical approach from their different uses. The study presents a literature review, demonstrating the technique of prosopography as historical research, and further as a method of sociological analysis, and then highlight your procedures and methodological limits.

This paper deals with some basic concepts of statistics a few analysis methods and their usefulness for researchers from various fields. In particular we focus our argument on how SPSS can be used with a view to carrying out a large number of inferences from certain set of quantitative data. Above all, we seek through these basic concepts and handling of said software routines equip, minimally, those who wish to venture quantitative analysis. In particular, we are concerned the use of the Pearson Correlation Test, Chi-Square Test and Analysis of Simple and Multiple Regression.

Often some opinion or election researches that use the survey method raises doubts in civil society and are challenged by the academic community regarding the accuracy of their results. The purpose of this essay, based on a review of specialized literature, is to discuss the methodological errors committed in the planning and execution of a study that result in distortion of their findings, and specifically, discuss the sources of errors that affect the credibility of the survey research. Once exercised control methodology indicated by the literature in all stages of the study, survey research and his technique of structured questionnaire reach the criteria for validity and reliability, which gives them the scientific status, then establishing itself as an important methodological instrument in research of social phenomena.

Grande parte das mesmas sao dedicadas a reciclagem de residuos solidos. Alem disso, tem como caracteristica marcante o numero expressivo de mulheres tanto como associadas, quanto na lideranca destas instituicoes. Buscase discutir tais acoes coletivas em sua relacao com os poderes publicos, com movimentos sociais urbanos e Organizacoes Nao-Governamentais (ONGs).

The present article has for general objective to discuss the concept of autopoietic system developed by Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela and carried into Luhmann’s theory with some epistemological and methodological encrease. Luhmann’s theory explains the society through using a set of articulated concepts such as system, structure, function, meaning, contingency, communication etc. These concepts sometimes are almost completely changed (re-meaning) in respect to the philosophical tradition or in respect any new approaches that are developed in different disciplines of science as in cognitive science, biology, communication and so one.

This paper discusses the notion of sustentability based on Amarthya Sen’s discussion about human development and quality of life, seeking to reorganize the role and the value of the human being among the challenges of development. The text tries to reflect about the contribution for a sociecology in Sen’s works, and of the presumed intelectual sense of being an antidote to the economic approaches that codified nature as “the kingdom of goods” and at the same time surrounded the human component with a profound lack of meaning and explicative value.

From the literary production produced about the Italian immigration in the Espirito Santo, this article aims to analyze the construction of the myth of italianity as the main ethnic group to compose the Capixaba’s identity. Uses quantitative survey and analysis produced between 1960 and 2005. It concludes that the literature helped to crystallize this myth when it played the dreams and achievements of immigrants.

Este artigo apresenta brevemente parte de suas ideias, tentando articula-las de maneira a tornar mais lucido seu proprio entendimento. Em um segundo momento, comparo sua apropriacao do conceito de historia a maneira desenvolvida por outro pensador, Marshall Sahlins, com o intuito de mostrar as proprias implicacoes historicas presentes no desenvolvimento de um pensamento cientifico. O que se apreende de tal exercicio e a profundidade e a atualidade do trabalho de Claude Levi-Strauss.

This article intention is to give the theorical and intellectual map production regarding collective actions. For such, we will analyze the propositions of five thinkers who have work for the better understanding of this question. We will discuss the contributions of the Chicago School, especially psic-sociology, and Herbert Blumer symbolic interactionism; the classical Marxists approaches on collective actions; Claus Offe and the Marxist point of view on the new models of collective actions; Charles Tilly and his social-historic perspective analysis about social movements; and finally Mancur Olson and collective action from a rational perspective. What we intend is to present comparatively the theorical and practical similarities and exclusions of these contemporary authors who contribute with collective actions today.
