Automatic rating of movies using an arousal curve extracted from video features 利用从视频特征中提取的唤醒曲线对电影进行自动评级

This paper discusses the extraction of film structure features from action films to build an arousal curve. The arousal curve is used as training data for building a Hidden Markov Model for predicting the rating of a movie. Evaluation of the model resulted in a 70% accuracy, which shows that there is some form of correlation between the structure of a film and its perceived rating. Interesting similarities were also observed in the arousal curve patterns between different movies in the same classifications.

Leaching of chromium from coal ash using citric acid, oxalic acid and gluconic acid by batch leaching procedure 用柠檬酸、草酸和葡萄糖酸分批浸出煤灰中的铬

This study aims to leach chromium from coal fly ash using citric acid, oxalic acid and gluconic acid. Fly ash obtained from coal ash pond comprises of 28 ppm chromium. After the batch leaching procedure, the results show that 27.66% of chromium was leached using 0.3 M citric acid with the contact time of 8 hours. Also, the order of the ability of the organic acid to leached chromium are as follows citric acid > gluconic acid > oxalic acid. Moreover, mixture of 3 organic acids were used with 0.0317 M citric acid, 0.0266 M oxalic acid and 0.06265 M gluconic acid with varying contact time. Only 8.62% of chromium was leached after 24 hours using mixed organic acid.

Platoon system implementation using the Robotis Bioloid platform 使用Robotis Bioloid平台实现排排系统

The study was conducted as a precursor and a proof of concept for the implementation of robot networks, given the rising potential applications and significance of such systems. The robot network itself was built using four robot modules from the flexible and adaptable Robotis Bioloid platform. Interconnections were provided wirelessly through the infrared modules of the Bioloid platform, and through the 802.11b standard of the Lantronix WiPort wireless module platform. Feedback and central automated control were integrated in the system using image processing and vector-based algorithms inside the open-source programming environment called Processing. The main focus of the implementation was the modeling of a “platoon” system with two basic formations using four robots connected wirelessly: a train-like behavior and a horizontal or side-by-side assembly. Initial results provided an overview on the expected capabilities and limitations of such system: the apparent lack of response speed and precision compared to full-blown custom robot networks built from the ground up, but having the advantage of manipulating individual robot structure to fit specific purposes due to the flexible (construction and design-wise) nature of the Bioloid platform. Further results suggest that distance between the robots, battery level condition and light ambiance are important factors that may affect the system.

Adaptive aggregation algorithm for target enclosure implemented in quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (QUAV) swarm 四旋翼无人机群中目标围护的自适应聚合算法

This paper presents aggregation behavior algorithm that will be applied for unmanned aerial vehicle quadrotors (QUAV). The most basic behavior for natural swarms is aggregation. Other swarm or social behaviors are derived from the aggregation behavior. Due to the concept of independence, each swarm members are required to collect themselves together to perform a certain task. However the swarm faces different environments thus this behavior is very complex to accomplish. This is the reason why the researchers developed this paper for multi robotic systems. Simulations were done to test the said algorithm and the researchers garnered the accuracy of 90.85%.

About a year ago the authors together with another colleague were commissioned by De La Salle University to conduct an energy audit on two buildings in campus. This paper discusses one of the areas that were covered in the energy audit which is the electrical lighting. It discusses the result of the audit and the recommendations made as well as the result of the implementation of the recommendations.

Strategic responses decision model in developing a sustainable manufacturing strategy 可持续制造战略中的战略响应决策模型

This work presents a decision model that highlights the integration of manufacturing strategy and sustainability with strategic responses as a significant component. Due to the complexity and uncertainty of the decision components and elements derived from literature, a proposed hybrid MCDM approach in the form of an integrated probabilistic fuzzy analytic network process (PROFUZANP) is presented. In the proposed method, analytic network process (ANP) handles complexity of the decision model. Fuzzy set theory is used to describe vagueness in decision-making which is carried out by eliciting judgment in pairwise comparisons using linguistic variables with corresponding triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). Probability theory is used to handle randomness when aggregating experts' judgments. Results are reported in this paper. Insights were also discussed.

Digital motion analysis system for rehabilitation using wearable sensors 基于可穿戴传感器的康复数字运动分析系统

The emergence and improvement of wearable low cost sensors gives way to an improved patient rehabilitation from impairment such as those caused by accidents or stroke. We have developed a digital motion sensing system that uses accelerometers and gyroscopes worn by the patient, and enables the rehab session to be recorded visually using a high-FPS camera. Through collaboration with interns and licensed physical therapists (PTs), we conducted tests using these wearable sensors known as the inertial measurement unit (IMU) side-by-side their norm of using a static universal goniometer (UG). An Android-based portable system was demonstrated that could be used by PTs on the move. We explored the variations of the normal range of motion (ROM) in healthy uninjured individuals, following that the functional ROM is less stringent than the conventional criteria. We can show that using the system the patient can participate in developing their digital medical records, as well as in their own wellness program.

Regression-based inflow forecasting model using exponential smoothing time series and backpropagation methods for Angat Dam 基于指数平滑时间序列和反向传播方法的回归预测模型

This paper deals with time series exponential smoothing and artificial neural network-based backpropagation methods in formulating a reservoir inflow forecasting model for Angat Dam in the Philippines. The predictive model is trained using dam daily average inflow observations inclusive of years 2003 to 2012, as recorded. Any real-time inflows forming a 5-consecutive-day vector could serve as input to the regression process. Its predictive power as measured by correlation coefficient at 0.959 for observed and predicted inflows taken from blind test set as well as 0.925 from validation set, could provide model users better perspective and outlook with regard to reservoir inflow conditions 24 hours into the future. In the background, this proposed model can offer dam managers protracted time in arriving at optimum reservoir water storage estimation as well as in load dispatching and scheduling when integrated into a decision support application.

Full-custom design and characterization of a phase locked loop — DLS565 using 0.5um CMOS technology 采用0.5um CMOS技术的锁相环DLS565的全定制设计和表征

The DLS565 is a Phase-locked loop (PLL) Integrated Circuit (IC) design project simulated on all process corner libraries (TT, FF, SS, FS, SF) using 0.5um CMOS technology. The final IC design layout of the PLL without bonding pads covers approximately 0.46mm × 0.5mm. The parameters of the DLS565 were measured and compared to the commercially available LM565C and NE565. It operates with a supply voltage of ±2.5 V with a maximum power dissipation of approximately 22 mW. DLS565 was able to capture frequencies as low as 15Hz and as high as 1.12MHz.
