This study examines a generic support system prototype in eduinformatics for students selecting a seminar. We have proposed a new inter-disciplinary field called Eduinformatics. It is a combination of the fields of education and informatics. Earlier in 2017, we examined students' submission system and procedure and the result of actually employing this system to match students with specific seminars and teachers. Results revealed several issues with this first prototype system. Therefore, we developed a generic support system prototype in eduinformatics for students selecting a seminar, to improve the earlier model.

In system development, specification changes are often made to improve or change service. The cause of the specification changes is uncertainty which can not be fixed until the practical use of the system gets started. The handling method of uncertainty has already been proposed, but detailed processes have yet to be defined for developing smart mobility applications. The paper proposes a detailed process for applying the handling method of uncertainty to smart mobility applications, and also propose a method to facilitate to conduct the process employing Model-Driven Development technology. For continued development, we will also refer to how to use operational information to improve requirements and designs, and how to analyze impacts when requirements and design are added or changed. We conducted a case study to demonstrate our proposed method. For the case study, we used parking recommendation application. As a result, two uncertainties were able to be resolved.

In today's declining population, the mass production economic model has reached its limit. In recent years, a recycling economy featuring shared services is emerging, and applying this concept to public infrastructure will act as a countermeasure against the declining population. However, to actually achieve "public sharing services", we have to create a high-speed and scalable resource supply-demand matching mechanism. This work proposes a resource supply-demand matching application for a ground transportation system in a city of one million and demonstrates its effectiveness by simulations.

This paper discuss about the relationship between the competencies of university students and the score change patterns of the English skills. We analyze the impact of student's competency factors on improving English language skills scores using the Tukey-Kramer Multiple Comparison Test. In order to analyze the improvement of English skills, the concept of score change was used. The results revealed that some "interpersonal" competency factors such as "leadership" and "cooperation" are related to continuous score change.

Nowadays people can find almost all kinds of information they want from the Internet. However, in most cases, users are not willing to find their target among segment among long paragraphs, by spending much time browsing texts. Existing work on topic labeling works effectively and performs well on document categorization, but inadequate for granularity of detailed contents. Thus we propose a method for selecting titles for segments in long documents. We analyze the characteristics of high quality titles for article segments, from the aspect of semantic relatedness between the target segment and related articles as well as other segments. Then we revise three features proposed before. We improve the phraseness feature, for giving appropriate scores for long titles. Meanwhile, we combine the features SimPF and Embedding-vector to enhance the efficiency and rationality. We use Wikipedia articles for experimental evaluations, in which a large number of article segments are titled manually, and a great number of articles lack detailed segment titles. We evaluate scoring functions by where hidden original segment titles are ranked, through precision@K. Through rigorous evaluations, we show an optimum combination of the features.

Smart mobility services evolve rapidly in excessive competition with rivals in the market. Meanwhile, service suppliers cooperate partially to avoid exhaustion and concentrate on their core business. Therefore, homebrew and external services have dependency one another. This paper proposes some software engineering practices to develop and operate such smart mobility services. An interorganizational architecture is imported from the ITS domain as a shared view for service suppliers in competition and cooperation. Each service supplier construct an intraorganizational architecture for its home-brew services in microservice architecture style. Technical practices are basically feature oriented. Services are comprehended by the feature model and their boundaries are managed based on it. Supply chain management of services is conducted based on the data flow diagram traceable from the feature model. The contract and its variation on service supply is managed and accounted by the assurance case. Risks on sustainable service supply are studied with failure modes and effects analysis.

In recent years, engineering education has become one of the challenging issues in Thailand education. By teaching and learning subjects independently, students are limited to subject-oriented problems, which are not in reality. To address these flaws, integrating knowledge across disciplines becomes significantly necessary. In the past years, STEM has been accepted as one of the effective strategies to bridge the difference in nature of each field to construct more practical projects and innovations. Moreover, the educational robot can be employed as a learning tool in that strategy since it not only provides challenging learning missions but also promotes computational thinking for the students. Therefore, this research study proposed STEM learning activities on three-day workshop to lay out the foundation to the high-school science-and-technology students who are becoming the engineering students. The workshop comprises of eight phases to facilitate their learning inquiry process with hands-on experience; moreover, the activities were designed in consideration of promoting computational thinking with challenging learning missions. The findings of this study showed that the proposed workshop activities are beneficial for the students who outperformed on robotics with higher computational thinking; meanwhile, they could provide more relevant responses regarding the proposed learning activities.

Over the decades, the Open Access movement has evolved with the support by academic communities. Following this movement, Kyoto University adopted the Kyoto University Open Access policy in 2015 and has launched the Open Access promotion project in 2016. The project aims to promote open access to scholarly articles as well as open access to rare materials (e.g., manuscripts). In this paper, we summarize our systems to advance open access, focusing on our institutional repository for scholarly articles as well as our digital archive system for rare materials.

Temporal text mining is widely used in summarization and tracking of evolutionary topic trends. In online collaborative systems like Wikipedia, edit history of each article is stored as revisions. Topics of articles or categories grow and fade over time and retain evolutionary information in edit history. This paper studies a particular temporal text mining task: quickly finding burst patterns of topics from phrases extracted from edit history of Wikipedia articles. We first extract several candidate phrases from edit history by specific features and build time series with edit frequency. Temporal clustering of burst patterns of phrases reveals bursts of topics. However, distance measure for temporal clustering, such as dynamic time warping (DTW), is often costly. In this paper, we propose segmented DTW which decomposes time series into proper segments and computes DTW distance within segments separately. Our segmented DTW shows reasonable speed up over DTW, while the proposed method can identify interesting evolutionary topic burst patterns effectively. Research so far can be applied in domains like trend tracking, temporal relatedness of phrases and popular topic discovery.

The sharing of application windows among multiple PCs is needed to support collaborative works. It enables users to manipulate windows from different PCs when using their own PCs. However, creating native applications with a sharing function is time consuming. We therefore developed an application window sharing system using web technology. Moreover, we developed a dongle interface for an application sharing system. This enables users to start the sharing of application windows smoothly. We tested and evaluated the practically of our system. The time required to start the application window sharing was shown to be less than 2,000 ms. The present paper describes how the system can be used for practical applications.
