Religion has a considerable contribution to the creation of present Bangladesh and Indonesia. Historically, religious communalism is common in these two regions and its presence is visible to date. Like other countries, both countries are moving more toward digitalization with a good number of digital migrants, making the internet a digital public sphere. Like offline society, online is now becoming a place of religious dakwah and contentions as well. Digital space offers both opportunities and challenges for the democratic religious public sphere. This article discusses the similarity and differences of online religious public spheres between Indonesia and Bangladesh. The research was conducted in 2021 observing social media particularly Facebook. This research finds that the online religious public sphere witnesses online piety, religious deliberation, the spread of religious hoaxes, and Islamism. While in Bangladesh, online disinformation leads to religious communalism and offline violence against religious minorities, in Indonesia, the digital public sphere is largely dominated by religious discourses argumentation among Muslims and the rise of post-Islamism. The online public sphere of both countries similarly witnesses the rise of hoaxes, post-truth, and banal religion.

The state must maintain the security of its territory. Regional conduciveness has a significant influence on improving the welfare of its people. A region, both central and regional, cannot be separated from conflict and social security. Kesbangpol is an institution tasked with maintaining conduciveness and early awareness of vulnerabilities in national unity, politics, community, social and cultural protection. In carrying out this task, Kesbangpol collects data from the field and then processes it and reports it to the government for review in maintaining regional conduciveness. The data collection process to the reporting process is still inefficient. Therefore, an information system is needed to collect, process data, and report information. An important function in the use of this information system is also expected to be able to map the current conflict so that the system can provide alternative solutions in handling these conflicts quickly and efficiently. Conflict maps are expected to visually describe conflict patterns from the data that has been obtained to facilitate and speed up the implementation of follow-up to the problems that are happening. In addition, with the application of artificial intelligence or a decision support system to the system, it is expected to be able to analyze the data so that it can take into account the warranties that will occur in the area and preventive measures can be taken so that conflicts do not happen.

Cangkringan community has a perception that the Merapi eruption is a gift not a threat or danger. This phenomenon can be understood as an attitude of wisdom of Merapi slopes to always be ready to live modestly with nature. This study aims to analyze the incidence of Merapi eruption in 2010 which has killed 347 peoples and found perceptions for readiness to face the threat of Merapi eruption in Cangkringan. This study used a qualitative approach for the perception of cangkringan peoples as preparedness to encounter the threat of Merapi eruption. Informant in this study were the Cangkringan peoples, caretaker of Mount Merapi, officials of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Sleman, Yogyakarta and data collected by observation and in-depth interviews. The collected data were then analyzed by using domain analysis, taxonomic, componential, and the theme of culture. The results showed that Perception built over the years was not to face the threat of Merapi eruption, but gratitude of Cangkringan community to the gift given by Merapi Volcano in the form of extraordinary natural wealth. Community’s perception of preparedness to face the threat of Merapi eruption in the form of advice or messages that contain high phylosophy value is eling lan waspodo. The presence of disasters are not preventable, but casualties can be minimized by preparedness action in facing the threat of Merapi eruption.

The Setara Institute (in 2018) designated Salatiga City as the number two Tolerant City in Indonesia. The culture of togetherness, as reflected in the celebration of Halal Bihalal and Christmas Together, in the midst of the multi-cultural society of the City of Salatiga is a fundamental factor in the formation of a tolerant and mutually supportive life order. This type of naturalistic qualitative research, using a critical analytical descriptive approach, makes the Pengilon hamlet community its material object. The results of this study found that religious moderation which was manifested in the celebration of halal bihalal and Christmas together, became a medium for preserving the value of tolerance that was so effective for every level of society in Salatiga City. Such a cultural base can guarantee the strength of the four indicators set by the Setara Institute, namely city government regulations; government action; social regulation; and religious demographics, in the ranking of tolerant cities in Indonesia.

IPNU-IPPNU merupakan organisasi pelajar bentukan ormas Nahdhatul Ulama. Anggotanya terdiri atas personal usia pelajar atau remaja. IPNU-IPPNU sebagai suatu organisasi di bawah naungan NU telah mengalami dinamika yang panjang. Organisasi tersebut berdiri di hampir setiap daerah yang didominasi ormas NU, seperti di daerah Capgawen Selatan (Capsel), Kecamatan Kedungwuni, Kabupaten Pekalongan. Organisasi ini memiliki tantangan besar dalam menghadapi disrupsi dan dekadensi moral di kalangan remaja. Berdasarkan itu, tujuan studi ini adalah memberi gambaran atas upaya-upaya yang dilakukan oleh organisasi IPNU-IPPNU sebagai organisasi social keagamaan dalam meningkatkan religiusitas remaja di era disrupsi dan dekadensi moral. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penyediaan data primer dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara dan observasi. Adapun data sekunder menggunakan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan IPNU-IPPNU Capgawen Selatan memiliki peran yang cukup signifikan bagi peningkatan karakter religiusitas pada diri remaja. Melaui kegiatan-kegiatan yang diselenggrakan, IPNU-IPPNU telah menyisipkan misi untuk membiasakan remaja dengan kegiatan-kegiatan sosial keagamaan.

The interaction between ethnic groups in a social sphere is always related to integration issues. Moreover, the Indonesian people are diverse with their inherent cultural identities. The pattern of interaction between the Chinese and several local ethnic groups in Indonesia has been investigated by various parties, including in Medan, Bengkalis, and Yogyakarta. The results of the three studies show that the interaction between these groups only occurs in the economic realm. It causes the inability to merge in the assimilation process. The author wants to examine why the pattern of interaction between ethnic Chinese and local communities does not reach the point of assimilation by using literature study as methodology. The analysis shows that the relationship among them is not in close proximity but more at public distance. Such a distance happened because the relationship patterns between these groups are fragmented then induces the emergence of organic solidarity among them.

Biaya pendidikan dan berbagai upaya lainnya justru membentuk masyarakat menjadi individu yang mempunyai sikap dan mentalitas miskin. artinya dalam merespon program-program yang dirancang pemerintah, masyarakat justru hanya tertarik secara financial untuk memperoleh bagian dari program tersebut tanpa memahami tujuan dan out put yang diharapkan pemerintah. Sehingga yang terjadi adalah angka kemiskinan semakin meningkat karena masyarakat justru berlomba-lomba memperlihatkan dan mempresentasikan dirinya sebagai masyarakat miskin. Dalam konteks ini maka yang dibutuhkan bukan hanya program yang bersifat konten, akan tetapi yang lebih penting dari itu adalah pembangunan pemahaman dalam rangka merubah sikap mental masyarakat untuk tidak bangga menjadi objek pembangunan tetapi dapat bertransformasi sebagai subjek yang dapat melakukan pembangunan. oleh karena itu dalam melihat dan mengkaji persoalan tersebut penulis melakuakn penelitian di Desa sengkerang, Lombok Tengah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk memahami dan menjelaskan perilaku miskin yang ditunjukkan oleh masyarakat dalam rangka mendoktrin pemahaman lingkungan sekitar tentang kodisinya.

Within social structure inside society, there is a group called the elite group consists of small number of people who are at the top of the stratum of the community. The group has a big role in various activities in the community. Banyumas is one of the regencies that receive a Productive Migrant Village Program (PMVP) whose implementation is related to the group of village elite. The purpose of this paper is to show how the role of the village elite in the village community empowerment, especially in the implementation of the programs. The method of the research is a critical qualitative research method. The data are obtained by interview, observation, and documentation. An analysis of the study was conducted interactively. The results of the study are; 1) The implementation of the programs are driven by village elites, 2) village political elites are responsible for the success since the beginning of the program, 3) political elites and economic elites ally in the implementation of the productive migrant village program. Such pattern of village elite alliances can be used as a useful model for the success of development programs or the empowerment of rural communities, not only in the programs, but also in other community empowerment programs.

The results of the study are; 1) The implementation of the programs are driven by village elites, 2) village political elites are responsible for the success since the beginning of the program, 3) political elites and economic elites ally in the implementation of the productive migrant village program. Globalization cannot be detached from the processes and results of global interconnections. As one of the most remarkable products of globalization, the internet appears to have become an important part of many people’s lives. Among the youth, social media is of particular prominence. This study explores the engagement of a group of Indonesian university students aged 20 to 23—also known as the Generation Z—in using social media. The study specifically attempted to inquire into ways in which they perceive social media to impact their lives.  Questionnaire and individual interviews were used as data collection techniques. Analysis of the data pointed to a high degree of ‘addiction’ to social media use among students in general. The students also revealed both positive and negative impacts of social media use, thus confirming the idea that social media is a double-edged sword that needs to be dealt with carefully and critically.

Pondok pesantren merupakan lembaga pendidikan Al-Qur’an yang memiliki kecenderungan membangun sebuah relasi suci antara kiai dan santri. Aktivitas menghafal Al-Qur’an yang dilakukan secara berkelompok dapat menumbuhkan ikatan emosional yang kuat, karena menghafalkan Al-Qur’an memerlukan waktu yang lama. Pengajian Al-Qur’an berlangsung cukup instens, sehingga membentuk pribadi yang bermoral dan kesadaran sosial yang melekat dalam kepribadian seorang penghafal Al-Qur’an. Sebagai respon positif dari pesantren terhadap perubahan dan kemajuan zaman dalam modernisasi sistem pendidikan, maka pondok pesantren telah memulai melakukan perubahan dan penyesuaian, baik menyangkut tujuan pendidikan, kurikulum, metode pengajaran, sarana pendidikan. Terjadinya modernisasi dalam sistem pendidikan pesantren bukan berarti bahwa semua elemen-elemen atau unsur-unsur yang menjadi ciri khusus dari sebuah pesantren tersebut mengalami perubahan dibuang atau dihilangkan. Orientasi pendidikan di Pondok Pesantren Ribathul Qur’an wal Qira’at yaitu mementingkan masa depan para santrinya setelah dapat menyelesaikan hafalan dari pondok dengan tujuan menjadi insan Qur’ani.
