Universities are increasingly seen as an important “knowledge hub” of innovation. However, despite the growing interest of scholars and policymakers to better understand the knowledge spillovers between firms, studies on university knowledge spillovers are relatively small. With this context, this paper thus aims to examine the concept, the characteristics and the mechanisms of university knowledge spillovers based on the theoretical and empirical research. Firstly, study found that the mechanisms of university knowledge spillovers determined by the characteristics of university knowledge. Secondly, based on the questionnaire survey of 124 scientists from Lanzhou University of Technology we found that university-industry collaboration this formal cooperative network is an important mechanism of university knowledge spillovers. Finally, the study has obtained the corresponding policy recommendations.

Cross-cultural Competence (CC) is referred to the knowledge, traits and abilities that individuals display under different cultural situations, and this knowledge, traits and abilities are closely related to work performance required by cross-cultural contexts. This paper firstly constructs a conceptual model of CC for Chinese expatriate managers in low-to-middle levels on the basis of literature study, then collects data through questionnaire survey from Chinese MNCs, and tests the conceptual model based on the data analysis. The CC model developed in this study is composed of 4 dimensions (Knowledge, Personal Traits, Behavioral Abilities, and Motives) and 15 elements. This study finds that the dimension of personal traits varies according to the variance of industry. This study also gives suggestions for Chinese MNCs to improve the CC of expatriate managers through the following ways: establishing a complete selecting system for expatriate managers, match the right expatriate managers with the right host environments, providing specific training for CC, and promoting experience sharing and communication as well as feedback mechanism.

In the face of the impact of the Internet tide, more and more traditional large-scale retail enterprises have used e-commerce platform for transformation. On the basis of analyzing the advantages, disadvantages and business model innovation forms of the traditional large-scale retail enterprises' transition to the e-commerce, this paper puts forward some strategic suggestions about how to transform into e-commerce for the traditional large-scale retail enterprises. In addition, a case study of the innovative transition way of Wal-Mart's e-commerce is analyzed. The paper is hoping to provide a reference to the transition into e-commerce model for traditional large-scale retail enterprises.

Deep into behavior level is the new trend of Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) research. This paper takes the first attempt to introduce the perspective of stakeholders' behavior to CoPS innovation risk formation mechanism analysis, constructing the logic chain of risk formation mechanism of “network structure-stakeholders' behavior-CoPS innovation risk” and expanding it in a dynamic process. Subsequently, this mechanism was refined into three theses to be tested yet. Finally, the future research of the formation mechanism of CoPS innovation risk is discussed from a behavior perspective.

With the economic contribution of creative industry being more and more widely recognized, researches in this field have been increasing dramatically since the 21 st centry. However, in-depth disscusion about the mechanism and process of innovation in creative industry still lack of studying. In this article, we discussed the features of genre innovation, the major force of innovation in creative industry, and proposed that using semiotics is a good way to deconstruct genre innovation process and understand the inner mechanism of it. Furthermore, we analyzed the problems that the industry meets in genre innovation, and proposed that modularization comes to be a decent approach to deal with the problems. Through modularization, creative industries can solve its dilemma facing the fast-changing technology and market environment, so as to realize efficient and effective operation and then obtain long-term competitiveness.

This paper reviews the peculiarities of the venture capital in China and compares them with the West. Different definitions on innovation has been found, which are believed to support different funding behaviours between China and the West venture capital companies. In the process of due diligence, the Chinese will always use a third party to evaluate or re-exam the business plan provided by the company. Then, the west venture capitalist are inclined to invest early stage, while many venture capitalist in China are just invested firms which are just before Initial Public Offering. In addition, state-owned venture capital should not just purse the profit maximization; their main function should be spurring the nation's innovation and the technological development.

Under the background of economic transformation, the reconfiguration and updating path of enterprises' technological innovation capability seems to be “absorptive capacity dominant-absorptive capacity and integration capability dominant-multi capabilities balanced development in high-level”. In order to realize this path, enterprises need some benign co-evolution with environment. In the view of co-evolution, this paper will discuss enterprises' innovation capability and the mechanism of co-evolution with environment in depth based on exploratory case studies, and then propose research framework, on account of which system dynamics model is structured. On one hand, this paper reinforces the explanations of institutional theory, dynamic capabilities perspective and other studies in complicated technological innovation capability evolution research and makes good for the applications under the background of economic transition of co-evolution; on the other hand, it lays a foundation for policy analysis of reconstruction evolution improvement of enterprises' technological innovation capability in the future.

From the view of SMEs' practice, authors of this paper put forward the model of enterprise architectural innovation competence (EAIC) based on the nested structure of modularization. It is linked with the case analysis of KR Company's growth progress, and illuminated the necessary condition of EAIC for SME during the growth to be a large enterprise. It also points out the importance of data architectural innovation competence (DAlC) for SMEs to break through the bottle neck to become a large company.

This paper empirically investigates the impact of urban innovative capacity upon urban economic efficiency. We construct urban innovative capacity by three sub-indexes of technology infrastructure, innovative output and technology transfer respectively, while measuring urban economic efficiency by a composite index of urban industrial structure optimization, urban economic structure upgrading speed, financial capacity and economic efficiency of enterprises. Using panel data of 54 cities from 2001 to 2010, the regression results suggest that: all the three factors influence economic efficiency positively; among these factors technology transfer has the strongest positive impact on economic efficiency; the effect of technology infrastructure lacks significance statistically. Our findings imply that investment in technology infrastructure is necessary but not sufficient for economic efficiency, unless coupled with a good mechanism of technology transfer.
